  1. 1. Which of the following managers would you accept

Billy McKinlay's odds have popped up as favourite for all the bookmakers now. Worst appointment imaginable. Steve Kean's best mate who has never managed before. And people were worried about Karl Robinson being appointed.

Typical Venky's move

ever heard of unoffical approach like most football clubs do 1st before an offical approach is done. need to know if the manager is interest in the job first.

Ever heard of tapping-up?! My point was PhilipL was trying to say Holloway had rejected the offer because of the terms, which PhilipL obviously couldn't know.

happens in every sport and in business aswell tho.

McKinlay is a very good coach and is highly respected in the game. Not much difference between him and Sherwood really. I would take him over big Al. The whole process is becoming a joke to be honest.

After getting rid of Steve Kean (or forcing him to resign), I doubt Shebby Singh is willing to bring in Kean's best mate. He'll be a nightmare to work with, particularly after that whole fiasco with Kean.

How long have you been a captain of industry/football chairman?wink.png

Anyway, we don't really know who's been approached, or who's been interviewed, but Holloway most ceratinly won't have been interviewed yet as no official approach has been made. I bet he'd jump at the chance though simply because of the resources and training facilities on offer, and also because his wages would double. I love to watch Rovers with him in charge. He's got an eye for talent, plays excellent football and doesn't make excuses when they lose. The opposite of Kean in effect.

if they think that just being an ex-Rovers player is enough, think again.I'd rahter someone who had never even heard of Rovers but was a competent manager in a decent league than just any old ex-rovers player who might have his coaching badges, and I suspect many would agree

mckinlay is basically kean second coming!Big difference between him and sherwood, sherwood has been coaching at a top club for the oast four years having never left the game and has been highly regarding as a future manager

Mckinlay has......oh he is assistant manager of northern ireland they are a good nation doing well, I think I would rather have black then keans best mate back at the club wouldnt be surprised to see kean return as coach

McKinlay hasn't been mentioned anywhere and all of a sudden he is favourite for the job.

Is this Shebbys master plan ? Billy McKinlay ?

Not sure what to make of this..

Am I racist if want to avoid Scottish manager?

No, and I can understand why, I am more racist not wanting a manager such as Ali or Singh, nothing to do with race, simply they have not worked with any quality players!!

He's 6/4 joint fav with Sherwood on sky bet. This is a keaning nightmare, McKinlay FFS!!! Surely not!

He works with the kids at Tottenham. That's about it. Let's not oversell him here.

and has been highly regarding as a future manager.

By who?

AVB doesn't even let him near first-team affairs.

I know that there has been no speculation on this guy, but the more I think about Glen Hoddle, the more it makes sense. Played passing football with England. Didn't get fired from England for football reasons. Got promotion with Swindon from this division. Big name. Tottenham link for Shebby. Just enough "baggage" that the Rovers job would be realistic for such a big name. Bring in someone as assistant to help with the sports science stuff. Easy. Although not exactly the young option, he's hardly past it.

Haven't seen any extensive reasons why not Hoddle on these pages. The only real "against" is his time at Wolves whilch I think is outweighed by everything else. Would he move up north for it though?

Get a grip. People were hardly going stir crazy with excitement when Sherwood/ Holloway were strong favourites, assuming that we were on the verge of appointing one of them.

Why is it different in reverse?

Keans best mate. I mentioned him a few days ago after speaking to someone I know who is a big Fulham fan. Just pure speculation on my part but looks like there could be something in it.

The Kean is dead, long live the Kean.

Good post.

Hoddle would be decent.
