While you can never say never where Venky's are concerned, but I would be amazed if Diego or Zola are even interviewed for the Rovers job.

Not trying to be funny but there are certain individuals in all walks of life who you do not 'interview'.

Can you imagine asking the Queen to attend an interview in order to assess her suitability as to reopening a new and improved Brockhall.

The mind simply boggles !

I know it is harping back a bit but why was everyone debating Guardiola I don't remember seeing him linked with the job I agree he is a good manager but he is unlikely to be in the running to take over.

Kamy can you confirm Redknapp is having an interview here tommorrow? Philipl hinted his demands are reasonable can you back this up I know because of sources you can't specify what they are exactly just please give us a hint are they quite reasonable?.

I am told that Harry will be talking to Rovers tomorrow, not sure if it is a formal interview or just a chat.

Rovers seem very confident that new manager will be in well before Palace game.

Let's see what happens tomorrow.

I've always regarded Redknapp as a spiv like character. I particularly dislike the way he conducts transfer business.

If we appoint him I will absolutely delighted. As a football fan I reserve the right to be a right fickle bar steward.

+1

One thing about Holloway or Redknapp, they both will instill discipline on the training ground, and get the players fit. These are some of the fundamental things that Shebby should be considering.

A manager and staff who get our squad fit alone would likely guarantee us promotion. The problem is finding a manager who can effectively control/crack the whip over a bunch of prima donnas while Shebby is floating around in his track suit acting as if he's in charge.

I've always hated the man, but I'd back Lucifer getting the job if I thought he's the most likely to get us promoted.

I love the Rovers but I draw the line at imperiling my immortal soul.

Translator.....not Rochina, someone who's completely fluent.....maybe Salgado.

I'd take Maradona with Salgado as his assistant in a flash.

Maradona without Salgado I would avoid like the plague.

Let's just hope it's just a chat to see if anything can be done. Got to admit, i'm surprised that Shebby is so confident whilst the scatter gun approach is still in full operation. Would be amazed if we have somebody in by the weekend.

Please please please Venky's, astonish me.

Do something sensible and appoint Redknapp.

At 22.31 you thought this.....................

Let's see if he turns up but I fear we might have messed up on Harry.

As for an appointment on Wednesday, there was a schedule which would have lead to that but precious little evidence it has been kept to.

And at 23.46 you thought this.......................

What's happened in just over an hour at that time of night to precipitate such a marked change of view?

Surely the Venky's, if as we are led to believe, bought ROVERS FOR PUBLICITY then they could do no better than hire Redknapp. The publicity surrounding that appointment would be huge they could really spin that one out. Imagine Harry drops a league to work for them. Surley that would flog lots of chicken. I would love it for Harry to be here yet at the same time something tells me it would end in tears. He is a big spender, he has in the past just bailed on teams without warning. For these reasons I am not totally sold. I still think Holloway is best suited for us then pick em with Grayson/Harry. Crazy I know, just the way I feel. Really I'd be delighted with any of those. Who knows maybe if Harry comes he can lure Sherwood here ( tell Shebby that one).

Not sure how we can be really, if we are still conducting interviews how can we be so sure. Either we will break the bank immediately for the right person, knowing they will accept our terms or the interviews(s) tomorrow are a smokescreen and the candidate is already selected. Perhaps the V's want to get us excited with Redknapp then give us a swift kick in the nuts with a McKinlayesque appointment.

Why is there so much talk of "I'll have X but only if he has a good assistant?"

We've had this with Shearer, Sherwood, Maradona etc etc and it makes no sense whatsoever.

The manager is the main guy. He needs to take the lead on everything, be it tactics, man management or transfers.

If the assistant is what is the difference between a good manager and a poor one then that assistant should be doing the managing.

At 22.31 I was pleading (whilst recognising it was against all the odds) that they appoint Harry and at 23.46 I reiterated what I think I'd already posted earlier; that I fear we might have messed this one up by ill-advised reception of the interest expressed. Andy Cryer wrote yesterday that Redknapp was unlikely "because he was too expensive"- Andy will have got that from one of the wonders disorganising this managerial search just as surely as Nixon has got his Maradona story from one of them no doubt backed up by a call to Brazil.

What change of view?-I don't understand your question. "Please please please" has never meant "I think we will appoint" in Darwen- perhaps it sometimes does in the rarefied atmosphere of Revidge.

Wrong again, you only have to look at Ray Harford.

How on earth does Ray Harford support your argument?

Kenny was a great manager with or without Ray Harford.

Harford played a massive hand in our title win but he wasn't the difference between Kenny being a great choice as manager and a poor choice as manager.

You saying "wrong again" to me would only be vaguely accurate had you proven me wrong up til now.

Instead I'm fielding irrelevant points like this one from someone who still thinks Shearer would be a good choice as manager.

The insanity of this whole thing is perplexing... two days before we apparently get a new manager and the day before we talk to Harry.. and we end up with two new utterly crazy names being thrown into the mix (not even taken from the stupidly long list we had to start with).

We can pretty much guarantee Redknapp would not stay beyond the end of the season.. but he would be one of the best choices available to us.

If logic is to be applied why don't we offer the job to him up to the end of the season with a big promotion bonus and OGS who wants to finish his current season the follow on job bringing him in early to work with Redknapp (say Jan when his season is over and new transfer window opens)... or I suppose at the very least some other coach Sherwood, Tugay or Salgado for example to be groomed to take over at the end of the season.

Then again we are talking Rovers we will go for Redknapp and end up with Ali..
