because the only 100% certainty on here, is that only Shebby knows what will actually happen and he's happy enough to let all the conflicting stories exist right now.

Is Shebby really in charge? Allegedly:

He wanted Sherwood, but couldn't get him despite Levi slapping a fee on him.

He wanted McKinlay only to be told no by Mrs. D or back off due to fan protest.

If Shebby is in charge, why is Shaw part of the interview process?

I suspect that Shebby/Shaw are only making recommendations. It's the Roas who will decide.

Of course, Shebby could influence the process by his antics. Hypothetically, something along the lines of 'we interviewed Holloway (or any other manager) but he wasn't interested' when in reality Shebby poisoned the well.

I really hope Venkys get this right.

I think you will be very much mistaken if you think Berg will 'put up' with Singh, see the Norwegians post at Lillestrom where he stood up to the Directors.

Henning is very much his own man and wont suffer fools, trust me on this one, he wont allow Shebby interference!!

I am certain that Singh will be prepared to relinquish some control in order to land redknapp.

His appointment would take everything to a new level. I don't see any negatives that aren't hugely outweighed by the positives in such an appointment.

so bearing in mind that Shebby's role is to interfere, that rules Berg out of the race.

Why go into a situation where you know the situation at day 1 ? you simply wouldn't (if you had strong will and integrity).

so it seems we need a new 3 man short list please.

the last 3 were all unsuitable for the post.

Odds on holloway dropping, Cryer and mullan saying they doubt holloway. Looks like that one is over.. Redknapp wont happen so berg it is.

Odds are only dropping because people are saying its not going to happen. Same as Maradona getting backed down because of one story in the nationals.

Cryer says on twitter that there are six left on list, with Berg, Redknapp and Holloway the frontrunners of those six. Grayson and Robinson not in the six.

Says he doesn't know about Hoddle. And that Maradona is not coming, as if there was any doubt.

Cryer changing his mind now:

Andrew Cryer@CryerRovers

@cotty_mc there are more than 3 on shortlist. Those three are high up - but still think it will be someone else

But not confident enough to nail his colours to the mast.

Still think Nicko is closer to all this than anyone.

So if Berg is the last option on the final three man shortlist and he turns it down as he can't get the assurances he seeks then where does that leave us? Black?

Those doubting whether Redknapp would work for Venkys/Shebby seem to forget that he is a single minded type of fellow where pound notes are his only influence. If we offer him what he wants he will take it as he is only interested in money, look who he has worked for before such as Mandaric, not much better than Venkys IMO.

I still don't think it will happen as I think Venkys/Shebby will not give in to his demands, some would say sensibly so, others would say foolishly so given the cost of not getting promoted.

If OGS is a possibility then we should just wait for him now. It's very possible that he will have wrapped up the Norwegian title by November 11th.

The only name that competes with him is Redknapp, but I'd say he's even more unlikely than OGS, despite the stories circulating at the moment.

Yes, every week that goes past brings OGS's availablity nearer.

If we get a decent result on saturday, with further improvements in performance, then maybe sticking with Black until OGS is ready would be the best option (if Harry isn't coming)

Thats the worry, Shebby wanting to keep face and just going with Berg to keep to his wednesday prediction and thus missing out on better candidates as a result...surely he know a DECENT appointment would keep the fans off his back even if it did run on a little more...

I am now thinking that the real problem is, internal squabbles and no one can agree on a single candidate, it should be put to a vote, bugger Singh, if he loses the vote, he accepts it our goes back to his roots and role as a controversial no knowledge soccer pundit!!

Today has a real 'sliding doors' feeling about it. If Rovers tell Harry's people what they want to hear then the club will enjoy some much needed positivity. If however, the most likely outcome occurs we'll end up with an underwhelming appointment and the big opportunity will be lost forever. Come on Venky's this is your defining moment. Do the right thing!

The odds are lengthening because everyone is backing the other 2. At some point the bookies will need to attract money on Holloway again to balance their book.

Even if Paddy Power knew 80% sure that Hollway was going to get the job they would still lengthen his odds as everyone else was backing Berg and Redknapp.
