Would Holloway bring his number 2 from Blackpool Steve Thompson if he is appoint? Will he keep Black on as assistant manager/first team coach or any other of the current members of the coaching staff?

who was Berg number 2 in Norway at his 2 clubs?

I reckon Hoddle would bring in his own number 2.

I'll be underwhelmed if we appoint Berg, I liked him as a player but I don't think he's the answer to our current problems. When Kean fell on his sword I thought we would have got an experienced guy with a background in english football. I agree no manager will guarantee success or promotion but some of the candidates mentioned would give us a better chance.

As I posted on twitter. NRK who are a Norweigan TV channel are sending a crew across tomorrow to interview Rovers officials and fans RE the 'impending managerial announcement' (their words not mine). They obviously think Berg is a very serious contender to be sending a TV crew across. Apparently is big news story in Norway.

It was just on NRKs news Dagsrevyen, They showed Redknapp turning the job down, a short interview with BRSCN leader (I think) and national team coach Egil Drillo Olsen saying he would fit right in at Rovers and be a good choice (not just for Blackburn but for any club in England!). They cited bookmakers as their main source though, so make of it what you will. No comment from Berg despite trying.

I'm warming more and more to the idea of Berg as manager. Could be a total flop but could also be a new Hughes. Just hope everyone is 100% behind him if he gets it!

Good luck to you tomorrow, Kamy! Will be warching the news again tomorrow night and give a "review" :rover:

If Holloway is appointed, I would not be surprised to see Tony Parkes back at Rovers in some capacity, not necessarily with the 1st team though !

Like I said, what we have seen of Berg so far is just the tip of the iceberg! :) I'll be one of that everyone, if you please!

Kent Bergersen and Petter Belsvik. Im not sure what Belsvik is doing these days, but Bergersen is coach at Aalesund FK in Tippeligaen.

Dont think he will bring either. An ex-player and/or Black i reckon

I'll die laughing if Berg brings Alan Shearer in as his assistant. Not sure if it's from hysteria or joy, though, but definitely because of the absurdity of it all.

No guesses as to who Nicko is referring to:

@mozrover Mrs D gave approval on the appointment of a manager TWO WEEKS ago. We are still waiting on agreement between Singh and Shaw on him

Have I missed something, how on earth can the owner of the football club approve the appointment of a certain manager 2 weeks ago and yet that manager has not been appointed....as of yet.

Sounds like Shebby isn't towing the line...so why is he still here. Crikey

Nobody here knows if Berg will be a success. Nor do they know if Holloway will be a success. Nor do they know if Black would be a success. Nor do they know if anybody else would be a success. So I hope they give whoever gets employed a chance.

Yeah, pass that message to Glen and the BRAG will tell Shebby Singh......oh wait, don't bother. You guys are going to abuse him again anyway, and claim that BRAG's views don't represent the majority of fans. And so the cycle of abuse repeats......

Don't understand when you say the cycle of abuse repeats, what do you mean by that.

The point I make is the new man buys and sells the players and picks the team with the support of you guys and us the supporters.

I reckon Holloway, Thompson(number 2), Black(First team Coach), Mimms(gk coach), and maybe Hendry working with the reserves as coach with Gary Bowyer.

Having Parkes back in some role at rovers would be great, maybe a scout. we need a proper fitness coach in with a proper background in fitness and Sport science.

Shebby had the potential to be loved, people were wishing him, giving him their backing, putting their belief solely in him and it looks like he has gone and ballsed it all up!! i really thought he would of gone out and done everything in his power to bring in a proven experienced manager but that doesnt look too likely now...

WTF was Cryer on about then when he said we were speaking to Redknapp today? Shows how much (or little) he knows. Credit to Nixon on the Harry front, looks like he was right on that all along.

If you had actually read Cryer's tweets, you would have clearly seen that he referred to "Redknapp's camp" meeting with Rovers today, never Redknapp himself.

Essentially it appears his agent/solicitor/best friend showed up, quoted terms and was rejected. Harry saves face (as he never applied so small town Rovers never rejected him) and Rovers know the cost-benefit of what they gave up (too much money vs. too little prospective reward).

Which is worrisome as I believe we should have paid for Redknapp. His history and record is amazing. We certainly would have maximized changes of promotion as compared to past (Kean) and current (Black) management. And its not hard to guess what he wanted:

1. A large base salary (2 million?).

2. A large promotion bonus (2 million?).

3. Guaranteed transfer funds in January (10 million?).

4. No player sales without his approval.

5. No player buys without his approval.

6. No interference or limitations in team selection.

7. No interference in tactics.

8. The right to leave with little or no compensation if a better job came along.

Assuming that was the basic hypotehtical framework, I'd have hired him on the spot. But we apparently we have bigger fish to fry (which in Venkys speak apparently means either Holloway or Berg) so its water under the bridge.

OGS kids are English and miss England!!

Then sign him up. He's by far the best of the up and coming managers.

Sherwood - Approach rejected.

McKinlay - Approach rejected.

Shearer - Was interested, never approached.

Holloway - Has been met by Shebby and Shaw.

Maradona - Find out where he's been recently.

Didn't someone report that Poyet also turned us down?

Hoddle's one of the best around, always been my first choice, get Wilkins in as number 2 and it's a dream team.

Best manager England had since Robson, if he can handle that lot he could handle Rovers.

Agreed. Hoddle would be an excellent appointment, though I doubt he'd come.

That's why I said "directly offends". The idea that we all go to heaven does not directly offend anyone. If people chooise to get offended by it then that's their choice, but nobody can be directly offended by because it's not aimed at anyone. Saying disabled people are being punished is directly offensive to disabled people.

Doesn't the theory of karma mean that you go up and down the scales depending on how you lived a past life? A beggar can be reincarnated as a king and a king a beggar, depending on past behaviors.

And its religion. Its all about faith and belief. Being offended that someone subscribes to the karmic theory is a waste of time. Might as well be offended that some are Tories, Liberals or Labour. Who cares about a manager's politics or religion? What counts is what he can do on the pitch.

Hoddle would be as bad as Curbishley - both yesterday's men and out of football for years.

Or as good as? I think Hoddle or Curbishley would be fine appointments.

The fans must get behind the new manager 100%.

Agreed, though if its Berg I'd be a bit underwhelmed. On the other hand, he's better than Kean so onward and upward.

I'm not sure who this is referring to but its a disgrace if its true. Its takes time for a manager to get a team fit and have them adapt to his tactics and we've allegedly thrown away two weeks.

Don't worry, that wasn't directed at you. And I'm a fan like you, not part of Shebby's backroom team. But to be clear, the cycle of abuse is basically something like this:

"We want to know what's going on with Rovers! Someone, go ask Shebby Singh *this* or *that*!"

Glen or or Mark or some BRAG member comes in and passes the message from Shebby Singh that "all is well", BOOM! "You're in league with Shebby Singh! You've become chums with him! We don't trust you no more!"

When it was leaked that McKinlay was going to be manager, "NOOOOO! Someone tell Shebby Singh that we don't want him!"

Glen and BRAG go ahead and do just that, and because some paper quoted him out of context (with Sherwood in there), people start yelling at him, "YOUR VIEWS DON'T REPRESENT ALL THE FANS! HOW DARE YOU GO MAKE A STATEMENT LIKE THAT!!!! ROOOOOOOOAR!"

Etc. etc. etc. And so you suggest that Shebby be told not to interfere with the sales and selections and purchases of players. I forsee that if Glen and BRAG do just that, some fan somewhere is going to rage and abuse him ALL OVER AGAIN. As I said, a never-ending cycle of abuse. And unwarranted and uncalled for at that.

I know a few Blackpool fans who regard him as God for what he's done for that club. Any of those who don't, remind them of the days before him and Grayson. If they carry on spouting drivel, then they are idiots plain and simple. Without him they will sink without trace.

Didn't say the fans I spoke to didn't rate him, or weren't grateful for what he had achieved - just his ability to recreate his Blackpool success at Rovers - how that is drivel is beyond me. There are lots of managers who are successes at one particular club - but then struggle at their next club.

I know there are a number of Blackpool fans who have only remembered where Bloomfield Rd was when they got promoted - fans I talk to go way back - and never dreamed they would get in the Premiership.
