Are you sure? The team is crap and the clubs adminstrators don't know their arse from their elbow whilst the fans are still staying away in their thousands

No1 - they now run the club from here through Shebby, Agnew and Shaw.

No2 - Kean has gone.

No3 - made some good signings with funds available.

No4 - mood is changing.

Not good enough. I'm not doubting that there are a few positives in Berg joining but overall he is not the kind of appointment we need. This is not the time for another experiment with another (largely) unproven manager. We desperately need experience to get us out of the Championship and someone who has had at least a degree of success at management in this division.

Berg is clearly a step up from Kean but that in itself isn't enough. It is encouraging to hear that he doesn't sound like the type of guy who would roll over for Venkys or Shebby and there is obviously a chance that he could do well. But he is a big gamble, a far bigger one then if we had gone for Holloway.

I'm not surprised. They had to get this right and to end up with Henning Berg after three weeks is pathetic. Once he's in place he deserves a chance and I'm sure the Rovers fans will give him a good reception on Saturday. I desperately hope he comes good however I reckon that this is a very poor decision.

Thank you very much for that long review on Berg, Puffsan. I hope this goes a long way in appeasing most fans and assuring them that Berg isn't a horrible manager. Unfortunately, roverandout and co. still remained far from convinced, I hope they will return once we get back to winning ways!

And why does everyone think I'm pro-Shebby? I've said nothing in his defence so far. In fact, I'm pretty neutral as to whether he leaves and Holloway comes in (doesn't matter to me either way). If I seem sympathetic to him, it's probably because I come from the same region he is from, but that doesn't mean I worship him or anything. I don't agree with a lot of stuff he has done.

Who cares about Shebby anyway, if Berg gets in I'll be behind him. Berg will turn BlackBerg Rovers into the iceberg that can sink even the unbeatable teams like Manchester United! :D

Two thoughts cross my mind.

Why is Henning Berg telling the meida that he's been offered the job before the club has made an announcement, just seems strange to me.

Also Henning Berg was interviewed (reportedly) on Monday and Redknapp does'nt go to his scheduled meeting on Tuesday, did he know something?

I know people may think I'm a lunatic for saying this, but I'm actually quite excited about the potential Henning Berg appointment. It would just be such a change to have a manager in place who understands the values of the club, who's intelligent tactically and who isn't likely to screw over the fans for a quick buck.

My only concern is whether he has the 'glamour' or the force of personality to stamp his authority on our players. Of course, this is a player who's won three Premier League titles and the Champions League, so that should certainly buy him something.

Far from thinking you are a lunatic mate I agree with your sentiments. I believe that the silent majority of Rovers fans (non message board types) will too. If some are going to sulk and throw their toys from their prams then so be it.

I can't wait for Saturday now and the chants of Henning Bergs blue and white army - it has a nice ring to it!

Henning Berg didn't tell the media anything, it's just media speculation and premature reporting before anything is confirmed. And Redknapp's agent did attend the meeting yesterday, he just rejected Shebby Singh and Derek Shaw's offers.

I'm not endorsing it, just saying that you're over-reacting to it and making a mountain out of a molehill. Additionally, being a hypocrite while at it. If you really want to be politically correct, you shouldn't be using words like D!ckhead and whatever because you're also making a generalization about male genitalia and perpetuating the inaccuracy of it being related to the intelligence of a person. You go all out on someone using words like retard or manic depression, but in the end you hypocritically use swear words relating to the genitalia anyway. How are you morally better then?

And allow me to enlighten you on the context that you've overlooked. He was making the comment in the context of people going crazy on the messageboard, and not in a medical context or a context where he is making the speech in a mental institution or hospital. That is the context.

By the way, I don't insult people or use swear words, so I see your point, just thinking that you're over-reacting and being hypocritical.

The d!ckhead comment was put in as a bit of comic irony. I'm surprised noone picked up on Quod Erat Demonstrandum. That was also there for a bit of irony after I called hardly1980 a smartar$e.

I admit, I probably did overreact in the context of this board, but the root of my feelings on the issue come from what I've generally experienced in life regarding the subjects of mental health disorders and discrimination.

It was unfair for me to do that and I've had a sleep and a calm down now, so, apologies and let's move on with the football chatter.

Today's a good day, potentially the kickstart the club needs. Puffsan's outstanding post has given me some confidence about Berg that I haven't felt about the Rovers for a while and I'm keen to embrace that.

- He works for the same media company so he has to tell them if he is not going to be at work today.

- Harry sent his adviser instead.

If you want to compare Henning Berg with Wolves manager Ståle Solbakken you can see that Berg has played with both Rovers and Manchester United and Glasgow Rangers whilst Ståle only played 6 games for Wimbledon....and Henning has had great managers and learn alot, he has educated himself now when had time off and he's a year younger. Also he has managed two norwegian clubs and has always wanted to return to Blackburn so I'll give him a chance....Ståle was sacked in his first season at FC Köln.

Berg can only be better than Kean......would you had been happy with Solbakken????

Nah, I hope I haven't offended you or anything as well. Hope I didn't come across as being overly aggressive. Like I said, I understand why you might feel strongly against people using medical conditions as jokes or insults, which is why I try not to do it myself (but probably fail miserably).

And yes, Puffsan's post on Berg was excellent. Gives most of us here a lot of hope that he could do well here.

At the beginning of the season, if somebody had given us the option of a) Kean all season or B) Kean gone, Berg in by November - there isn't one Rovers fan who would go for option 'a'... we all must get behind the new manager and try to move forward. There will always be some 'experts' on here who spend most of their time moaning and wouldn't be happy whoever we appoint. Get off your computer, go to the games and get behind the lads.

However the first to break the news was TV2 which is where Henning Berg is working as a pundit and therefore it should be a very reliable source. After the TV2 report it is all over norwegian media.

His Colleague Davy Wathne (pundit too) tweeted a goodbye to Henning Berg and that he expected him to be named as manager during lunchtime.
