rightrover Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Why would any self-respecting manager with a proven reputation come and put that reputation on the line, when he knows full well that all player decisions at Ewood are taken by agents, for the financial benefit of agents? Anyone who thinks this is a normal football management appointment, made for purely footballing reasons is in cloud-cuckoo land. The difficulty is finding someone who will go along with it, preferably without links to known parasites to avoid the finger of suspicion pointing too closely. Not an easy task, but much easier with a no-name desperate to get on the managerial ladder and no reputation to lose. It's going to be nigh on impossible to trust whoever they appoint. I'll prepare to be staggered, absolutely staggered, if they appoint a 'proper' manager, especially one with a clean reputation.

blue_n_white99 Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 I see you're a glass half full person. With the clowns in charge and the history of the last two years, why would any sane Rovers fan be half full? The w ankers who own this club have only been consistent in one aspect of their ownership...every decision they have made has been protracted and garbage.
RevidgeBlue Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Strange 4 weeks on that we now have rumours about Redknapp - I would have thought that the first port of call should have been to see if any of the higher profile out of work managers like Guardiola/Redknapp/Dalglish/Benitez//Hoddle(+ Wilkins) were interested rather than pay compensation for a Coach currently in employment or an "experienced manager" like Flitcroft. Harry has always been umbilically attached to his palatial multi million pound home on Sandbanks that no-one has ever been able to figure out how he could afford. So him taking a job anywhere up North seems a little unlikely but if he were to hop in a private plane or helicopter I'm guessing he could be 'oop North almost as quickly as the time it takes him to get into North London. As for Rovers specifically, you'd guess he'd rather wait for the inevitable rash of Premiership sackings that will occur later in the season but you never know, a short term contract and a job well done at Ewood could just reinforce his managerial CV for later use. Or he might even like it at Brockhall. So unlikely but not as completely out of the question as some seem to think imo. Have to go back to the fact though that if anyone high profile and out of work like Harry is or was interested, they should have been in the hotseat a couple of days after Kean walked out.
BigBar Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 anyone get the feeling the only application form on shebbys desk is from Steve Kean Green...???
booth Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Redknapp talk on Sky Sports news. Eric Black saying he'd love him at Rovers. Dunny now talking about Redknapp. Says he has no idea how true it is.

booth Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Weird, he's usually first on the blower to Sky though isn't he. If he'd said not a chance on ESPN you'd think his Sky mates would know about it. They've just done a ten minute piece on it.
Gav Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Flitcroft would be a nightmare, I know someone who is close to the family and his off the field exploits have not taken a backseat since his attempted gagging order all those years back. It's trouble we don't need in my opinion.

booth Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Do they seem to think there is any truth in it? They were talking about it as if there were some truth in it. Interview with Eric Black and David Dunn, purely about Redknapp. I wonder if Shebby's got them to do a bit of PR to try and get him interested?
Jordan Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 I Last thing il say to make sure im not crossing any illegal boundries is that the player in question was was injured on a midweek game, whilst being "injured" offered a new contract worth 80-90 k a week and turned it down he later left. Player was also approached by another big club that year and was rumoured to have turned down 110k to stay at BRFC. Before the injury... He told his family who told a mate of mine who told menot so long ago. Player wasnt suprised Kean went and in my mates opinion was largely unpopular with the team. Samba?

Almost certain they're playing Arry at his own game and courting him via the media.
RevidgeBlue Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Does he really want to work for Venky's after his sarcastic comments about them? That's always been my reservation about Holloway joining. He might well have a cheap release clause in his contract and all that but if he doesn't want to work for Venky's it's irrelevant. And he's always given that impression. I know money and the promise of a big transfer kitty can change a lot but Holloway has always struck me as being a bit better than that somehow. As for the Jol interview jim reproduced well................ doesn't sound like Jol is that bothered about keeping McKinlay does it? "We knocked back your official approach for appearances sake guys but if you really want him just give him a call (please)" Avoid. (With bargepole). Along with "Gaz". Would be pleased with Holloway though if he's forgotten his principles. And if Harry is interested we should be snapping his arm off at the elbow.
booth Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Holloway's previous comments mean nothing or they wouldn't have him down on the list in the first place. Sounds like the stumbling block with him is that he wants to do it his way.
ABBEY Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Harry says "not a chance" to rovers job. Thats him ruled out, back to Mckinley. A
pick32 Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Holloway or OGS for me, hate redknapp nothing more than a cheque book manager and made spurs a grave yard for talent.
True Blue & White Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Holloway's previous comments mean nothing or they wouldn't have him down on the list in the first place. I was quoting Holloway's previous comments on Venky's in regards to Holloway's enthusiam for the job, not Venky's enthusiam to get him. Besides, we're run by people who didn't know relegation exists, I highly doubt they are even aware of any of Holloway's previous rants.
booth Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 I've got a bad feeling that this is just a PR campaign to get Arry interested and we'll end up missing out on a more likely candidate if we keep fannying about.

Been told off several very good sources that he wants the job if given assurances. I'm sure the usual ITK'ers can back me up on that, as well as a few Blackpool ITK'ers, Nixon, Cryer and Kamy. Sky Sports sources now say Harry Redknapp IS interested in the vacant position.
andyrover Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Just been on skysports news sky sources say Harry is interested in the post On the yellow ticker now
