I apologise if I'm asking a ridiculous question but I've been away.

Where are we up to with regards to the 30 plus fantastic candidates that had apparantly applied for the job? (as per Singh & Shaw)

When I read we had approached Billy McKinlay (FFS) I am right in the assumption that the 'list' are all deemed to be not up to standard?

I would say more deemed to be too expensive or too independent. Venky's ideal candidate is a cheap manager who will do what he is told. Most of the fantastic candidates will not fall into either category.

Another note tiny pulis confirmed we can have Jerome on loan for 3 months. He's the kinda player we need

So, we are seemingly going to make a three month loan signing on the strength of what our caretaker manager wants when it would appear that, at the most, he has one more match in charge.

Absolutely ridiculous !

Unless, of course, the caretaker is going to get promoted to permanent manager, or, the 'new manager' has been 'appointed' and 'signed-off' this loan signing !

We've plenty of kean players. What we need it to give our young striker (who can tuck the ball away for fun) some bloody service and a big lump to play alongside him.

There are three kinds of manager according to Shebby:

1.The wise old men(there aren't many of them apparently) Think Ferguson or Redknapp

2.The ones in the middle who have managerial experience with many trophies, promotions and relegations i.e. a manager (lots of them apparently) Holloway, McCarthy

3.The Young and vibrant up and coming managers (takes time to find them like Mourinho apparently) Sherwood, McKinlay

Shebby wants option 3 hence approaches to Sherwood and McKinlay and so has disregarded option 2 of a manager with experience such as Holloway. With this philosophy, it is hypothetical that Shebby will pick Garry Flitcroft to be the next manager.

Thanks Defo

Much as I thought but that being the case you would have thought they would have kept their mouths shut.

My own view would have been spend £8million on a conductor of the orchestra to ensure we return to the promised land rather than a promising forward who we then starve to death. Then apparantly plead poverty.

But hey WTF do I know.

(no reflection on Rhodes by the way because I do believe he has promise but priorities please, get shut of the circus)

He ain't thinking of himself in this equation then is he?

IMO Singh Director of Football springs to mind.

We all know what we need, a respected talisman figurehead with an initial objective ending May 2013.

As Shilly pointed out in the other thread, he forgot to add "cheap" into the third option, which is the real reason he'd rather for for option 3 than option 1 or 2.

Prepared to be completely underwhelmed by the managers appointment. I know there is a separate thread for shebbys cameo on tv, but as already stated, he harped on about discovering the new mouriniho.

He also stated, whilst the panel were discussing vile chanting by crowds, words to effect that the rovers fans will be singing bad things about him after he has appointed the manager. He was laughing as he said this.

One school of thought is he was joking. The other is he was being deadly serious, he is determined to employ a puppet, and he knows it will be unpopular.

I don't think expense is a problem. Kean was on a fair whack and was completely useless. I think they just want someone who won't kick up a fuss if they don't get their own way.

You'd think after the previous manager, who was a puppet and lost them millions of pounds, left and is now trying to take them to the cleaners they'd realize that it's better to have someone who might be a handful and control freak who can do the job properly, rather than someone they try to control who will eventually betray them.

I don't like the sound of that. Didn't see the show but this does not bode well.

Harry Redknapp & Ian Holloway are interested in the job.

I know, let's find the new Mourinho.

He was drooling over the prospect of finding the next Mourinho. He clearly dismissed anyone who has suffered a relegation. He came accross as a foolish bell-end who will help to ruin the club unless he rags it with the next cheap appointment.

Difficult to use Kean as an example when it comes to people being paid by Venky's. He basically was one of them during his tenure here so they were essentially paying themselves.

The drastic reduction of our wage bill, culling of all knowledgeable (and assumedly well paid) staff and minus net spend tells a more accurate story of Venky's financial intentions so far.

Their £8m outlay on Rhodes + wages for Murphy, Etuhu etc this season is an interesting turnaround to an extent, but one wonders where the money is coming from and if they may have reached their limit.
