Andy Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 How can Kean take his dog for a nice walk, if he doesn't actually own a dog...?

forumquizmaster Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 My prediction is that Eric Black will continue as manager until the end of the season and will then be appointed long term. I think this was arranged s while ago and in a week or two shebby will come out and say something along the lines of 'we have looked at a number if options, of which some were rejected by the fans I.e. McKinlay and Sherwood, and we have decided that Eric us the man to take us forward and will look after the team until the end of the season. He will probably say that other option wren't right to take the club forward or approaches were rejected by the managers clubs I.e. Holloway. Hope I am wrong but have felt thus since #?!/ left. In complete fairness to Black I don't think this is right. I'm not suggesting he's manager material at all but in every other human respect he's been like a breath of fresh air.

My thoughts exactly. They did the same when Allardyce was sacked. What's changed?
John Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Redknapp,Holloway just can't see it,think it will between Robinson,Grayson and Billy Davies, not sure of the relationship with Davies and Shaw from Preston days, but not in work no compo or asking permission,Grayson would cause a few ripples a Huddersfield can't see us getting permission,he would have to force the issue,Robinson think we could get him without too much problem, and I have said all along that Robinson will end up manager, think he could do a job as well. Can't remember but Billy Davies had off the field issues few years back I think.
martonrover Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 So we are interviewing candidates whilst battling for Holloway? How unethical, how typical Our bunch of clowns are writing the manual 'How not to appoint a manager'. As someone else commented, we'll probably end up with 3 !
booth Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Whats the 3 vids?? the infamous big sam one and what other 2? god hes a gimp!! The first one was donut-gate.
True Blue & White Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 From Black's various soundbites and interviews I'm pretty sure he doesn't want the job long term. Since taking over he's been the polar opposite to Kean, not bigging himself up and even calling on Venky's to make the right appointment and soon.

In other words - Saying exactly the right things so that the fans accept him when he is given the job till the end of the season.

I respect and understand your cynism but you're putting Black in a position where he can't win. If he said he wanted the Job and that he was the man to take Rovers forward you'd be complaining that he's just the next Kean but when he says he doesn't want it and talks up other managers who could take the post you say that he's just playing Venky's game.
rightrover Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 In fairness to Black, although we're still not playing well, he has at least tightened up our non-existent defence which was absolutely necessary. In fact, all of a sudden, there are are only four teams who have conceded fewer goals. At least he's tried to address the problem.
OJRovers Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 I'd like to see vid 3 after the first 2. Having seen Kean (when coach) + Coleman operating in a local nightspot, I wouldn't rule out more stories.
Kelbo Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 It takes time to get a team playing the way you want, we saw signs in the first half hour and definately a much more unified back four who in my opinion, defended well !! Build from the back has always been the secret to success and thats where Kean fell down, he built from the front!
True Blue & White Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Maybe we can have Holloway and Redknapp and they can rekindle their 'man love' relationship....

Build from the back has always been the secret to success and thats where Kean fell down, he built from the front! thats what all good managers do. built from the back like Hughes and Allardyce did when they took over. Black has tried to do this the best he can. but need a manager in who has experience as manager.

Heres his Coventry record Played 26 won 10 Drawn 4 Lost 10 win percentage 46.15 - not bad (Championship) Was also Assistant Manager at Celtic!
John Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 BBC article Time continues to tick on and as the days pass names are thrown into the mix, with and without foundation. Decision time is approaching and rarely has so much depended on appointing the right man. The soul of a century-old club cannot be ripped out in two years, but the new man must realise his central role in healing the wounds, and the time it has taken to appoint him will be forgotten if Singh and Blackburn make the right choice. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20093485
booth Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Nixon on Twitter saying that Holloway is very much at the centre of proceedings. 500k fixed fee in his contract for compensation but he expects fireworks if an official approach is made.
G Somerset Rover Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 From Black's various soundbites and interviews I'm pretty sure he doesn't want the job long term. He does - that's from somebody I know who is close to him.

It will be interesting to see wherever Holloway goes if he can get the same deal as he does at Blackpool which is a 5% cut of all transfers out (Oyston gets a further 5%)!!!!! I can't see the chicken lords allowing that to take place.
BigBar Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 The car park one is number 2 I believe... thought that was a rumour...is it out there in the open??

I can't see the chicken lords allowing that to take place. Yeah but his overall salary will be higher and there will be a huge bonus for promotion you can bet. The other thing with Holloway is that he wanted Blackpool to invest. At the moment they still don't have any facilities. Perhaps he's started to realize that investment will never come. Brockhall would be a dream come true for him. thought that was a rumour...is it out there in the open?? It definitely exists, just not in the public domain.

Brockhall would be a dream come true for him. He's definitely taken Blackpool as far as he can. He sounded really bitter about the Charlie Austin thing last week. If he can't compete financially with Burnley then he'll always be facing an uphill battle. I'm fairly certain he'd take the job here if he was offered it.

Also that Southgate "has been discussed". The BBC is a more authoritative source than most.
