Could this be an intentional 'leak' from the club to try and placate fans?

...whilst they tie up a deal for Billy McKinlay/Garry Flitcroft/any other random former midfielders from the 90's?

A few posters have made this point but I think it does the opposite if it doesn't come off as it raises expectations.

We've gone from Flitcroft being a certainty last night to 'Arry being in the frame this morning!

Pure speculation. No direct quotes, no quoted sources, nothing.

Known in the newspaper trade as a "flier" and should be treated with caution..

Cryer at the Telegraph got his article in first. I doubt Cryer would be writing something like that if there was no substance to it.

What are you on about caution? We aren't going to disintegrate if it doesn't happen.

Harry is very money orientated so would not completely dismiss this - Cryer convinced he wants it - don't know what he (Cryer) means by one of his latest tweets that he has been asked to put the feelers out??

Cryer was saying that the original interest came from Harry not Rovers. Perhaps he's been asked how the fans would take it?

His ''contacts'' must be winding him right up then because half of the stuff he prints is proven bullshyte.

He printed that Rovers were after Sherwood.

He printed Bolton were after Freedman.

He printed Rovers were after McKinlay.

He printed that there is a split between Shebby and Shaw.

He printed the Holloway story and that he has a release clause of £500k.

Now would you be kind enough to point of the 'bullshyte' in that?

Also printed that Armstrong was advising Shebby, and amongst other info that has turned out to be true.

Given an unnecessary bad rep on here especially as he has a soft spot for Rovers from Jacks day.

Naming a few things he's got right doesn't counter the argument that he's also spouted a load of crap too. As they say, a broken clock is still right twice a day.

Remember the £50m war chest he said Allardyce would get in Venky's first January window, which actually turned out to be a £5m payment in agenct fees and weird third party arrangements spent by Jerome Anderson on behalf of Steve Kean? Then there was the time he said Bentley was on the verge on signing a new contract shortly before he buggered off to Spurs.

I thought the nickoteens had left when he did.
