The thing is that after Venky's obstinate stance towards Kean over the last two years, Berg's not going to get much patience from the fans if he continues to falter. Venky's can't expect fans to keep buying this crap, even if the new guy is a club legend.

We were 3rd when Kean resigned and in among the leading pack, we're now 9pts from 3rd and performances have largely left a lot to be desired. There hasn't even been any honeymoon period to speak of that you would expect from a new manager. I'm not calling for his head. That would be nonsense either way. Look at how long Kean was here, the bureaucratic search for his replacement, and you honestly think calling 'Berg out!' will have any effect? Might as well back the guy and hope that he's able to turn things around. At the moment, my initial optimism is turning a little sour.

That's my view also. I wasn't too optimistic to begin with. Nice guys rarely succeed in professional sport.

I think the fans talking about replacing him are being horribly unfair to Berg.

With Shebby, Agnew, Shaw, Balaji and Mrs D involved, we were keaning lucky to get somebody as good as Henning no matter how shambolic the "process" was.

We quite easily might not be so lucky another time.

It is becoming obvious to me , we are going to be in this state until Venkys , have gone !

Rhodes is the only thing , they have got right in 2 years ..

Will he still be here come Feb 1st 2013 ?

Shebby's got to go and a proper chairman put in place to make sensible decisions. Unfortunately Venky's don't do sensible.

Leaving Agnew and his PNE shelving mate running the club with Burnley (silent) Bob, whilst they promote the manager of the Korean corn feed operation?

Shebby's not ideal but at least some truth is now getting to the Chicken Lords, unlike previously , what effect it has not to sure but pretty sure its not the utopia that was being fed to them by Kean and his mates. If rumours are true he needs to get his nose out of team affairs and concentrate on sorting out the off field operations leaving Berg to try and sort the mess that the previous "managerial" team left.

Great point.

If we continue with our current poor form then I think Venky's will panic and he will go. Would not rule out Liverpool taking a punt!

He has played for Rovers and Huddersfield this season I don't think he could play for another

Summer is different

Even though I'm not happy with the team and Berg's perfomances 'till now, I think we have to give him until January to finally get the players he wants and get rid of all the deadwood that is in Ewood currently.

From what I've read, the only player he brought in has made an impact in today's game. Hopefully he can get 3 or 4 players for the first team that will help us win promotion,

And llet's not get hysterical, there are still 26 games to go and we are only 4 points away from a playoff spot and 9 from automatic promotion.

We are conceding too many late goals. In recent weeks we dropped 2 points in the last minutes against derby, huddersfield, and today at burnley. That's 6 points dropped which would have had us comfortably in playoff position! The team Need to learn how to see out games, we always ending up defending too deep, and in each of those games we could all see the equaliser coming! This obviously needs to be worked on and may take a bit more than. We can't be too down, look at the positives. The players still lack confidence, this will only come if we go on a good run, which we are due now!!

We have gone from the best/ most competent run club in the premiership - to a laughing stock now in the championship. Venkys / Shabby / Shaw & Agnew are the villains remaining.

Berg needs our support - he has the hardest job in the Championship. We have to get behind him.

A big but - he has to show he is no stooge.

I wish him the best of luck.

Dear me, what is this talk about "as good as Henning" ?

Berg has had 1 managerial job before Rovers - and he was an utter failure at Lillestrom and kicked out very fast after a disastrous string of results. I said this before - while we welcome Berg, Venkys found a manager whose record up to that point falls somewhere between Kean and Ince.

His current record at Rovers, including all the games we have played so far, suggests not for a moment that he has improved one bit.

While it would make sense to give him time this January to see what changes he can make...is anyone here actually confident that he will fix the ship and guide us toward promotion? Any signs or clues of that? Anything in his post-match interviews?

We're stuck with Championship football, and a team of overpaid mercenaries that the manager can't inspire to do better than their (lack of) skills suggest. It's sad but it's true.

  • Holloway 7 matches, 16 points, averaging 2.3 points per match
  • McCarthy 7 matches, 13 points, averaging 1.9 points per match
  • Dyche 7 matches, 11 points, averaging 1.6 points per match
  • Freedman 7 matches 10 points, averaging 1.4 points per match
  • Appleton 5 matches, 7 points, averaging 1.4 points per match
  • Berg 7 matches, 6 points, averaging 0.9 points per match

I

It was always going to be easy for Holloway stepping into that job but McCarthy has already shown his mettle turning round a basket-case Ipswich side and getting them out of the relegation zone.

I know he's no managerial genius but like Sam he knows his job and he knows this league having won promotion twice already.

He's the man we should have gone for this season with a bait of a bonus for him if we went up.

Too late now.

Of all the clubs that changed manager around that time we picked the most inexperienced and the least likely to succeed despite arguably being the biggest of the clubs available at that time.

It would be baffling if it wasn't Venky's.

season was over when it started with the fraud still in charge, if no money is available in Janruary then not even Mourinho could get this squad promoted.

I'm still in the mindset of being made up the bald liar is gone and pitying Berg having to work with this trash...............Only peev is why the hell is Simon not starting every match

Genuine question, what have you seen of Simon to suggest he should be starting?

I know nothing of him, so I'm keen to understand this love in for him.

Rubbish. A no-nonsense proper English manager like McCarthy would get more out of this squad.

about 5 minutes, is what i've seen which was quality Vs countless hours of formica/markus/rochina/pedersen/lowe/any other random garbage no other team would pay money for

Two actually - he managed Lyn for three years, finishing third in his first season. Lyn had very poor support despite being an Oslo club and were in severe financial straits. He did a great job there under the circumstances.

He may not have been our best choice as manager, who knows? The fact that folk are suggesting he goes after seven games is ludicrous. I am willing to give him time to build his own squad if he his given the chance by Venky's. Getting out of this division will be at least a two season exercise. Those who were saying we would go up this season were well wide of the mark. Our squad is rank and I could count on one hand the players I would be prepared to keep. In fact without giving it a lot of thought, the only nailed on one would be Rhodes.

Quite scandalous how many were against Mick McCarthy:

"He's too old-school!"

"Look how he did at Sunderland in the PL!" (and ignore the fact he got them promoted, and twice with Wolves)

Would've loved to have Big Mick here, tbh.

I seriously doubt this squad is anything like as good as most Rovers supporters are assuming it to be.

We got massively lucky when we were getting played off the park and were nicking wins against Hull, Leicester and Barnsley. Championship Managers have got wise to how limited our midfield is and are simply killing us. There is not much Berg can do about this until the transfer window opens but hopefully he is getting his deals done now so players are immediately available.
