'Good spells at Fulham' John? Did he? All I'm saying is that for a player who is slow, poor in the tackle, almost completely one footed, useless in the air but can pick out an occasional pass he's had one hell of a charmed career.

Looking the part seems to cover a multitude of deficiencies. My issue is with the joker who seems to be having a pop at Berg for not making a 36 year old who has played virtually all of his career at the top level a better player.

To prove how deceiving a set of phrases can be the above paragraph could be labelled on Tugay.

Good point..... but only a sightless person would place any store in it.

Murphy was a good player in his pomp. I think he'd still be good at this level if we had two runners for him. If we had one of our better managers in charge, Murphy would enjoy a good Indian Summer in this league.

So its all Berg's fault ?

Murphy was actually starting to play half decent under Berg until recently.

I think Murphy comes under the same heading as so many of our squad - under-achieving. Personally I think many are struggling to cope with being the team to beat - where teams are definitely going all out to beat us - it is almost a mini FA Cup match every game.

Yet Coco's record this season with them is stuff of dreams for Berg.

And what happened in the last 3 seasons, or 53 for that matter, is irrelevant. This team couldn't run a bath let alone have a run of wins

Let's be honest now. Yes we started with some results courtesy of some poor finishing by our opponents, lady luck and one or two moments of sheer class from Gomes and Rhodes. Look back at the posts on here from the beginning of the season you will struggle to find one that was backing turdbreath. It is really unfair to pull up that lucky streak and weigh it against Berg's record. It was just a matter of time before we plummeted. Berg needs a bit of time to right things, if we had the same share of luck we'd be about 9 points better off under Berg. There are questions but let's give him some time to see if he can figure out the answers and put them onto the pitch.

To add, taking a leaf out of Mercermans book, after 6 games Kean had better records than, Holloway, Dyche, Freedman,(McCarthy was unemployed but I'll bet super Kean would have been better) so perhaps we should have kept him as he was clearly a better manager than any of those people using the same logic. Sooo if Kean was better than any of these people that Mercerman has been touting we should have had( not directly but what else can his mini leagues mean) why then did Mercer refuse to go to Ewood while Kean was here when he was clearly better than any of those from his mini leagues. Yeah I know it's all bollx

And there lies another issue !

Do we have a credible scouting team left ?

Yes we do actually, Shebby Singh, just ask him.

The one playing very well for Stoke.

Me too.... but have you considered who will buy? It took the trust 3 years and a knock down price to get rid... and we were a top half financially sound Prem club back then.

I'm suprised you can say that given the amount of time we have seen him on the pitch. imo there is something wrong there.

Hardly any need is there? Arry would rather have stuck pins in his eyes every day than manage us. We were just a rather lame stalking horse for his ambitions.

I was wanting details of Phillips statement regarding 'arry's representatives. I know the score with arry and the chance of him coming here. That's all, looking for some drama.

no one can argue with you there

At what point does Berg run out of excuses? blaming the last one for everything will only cut it for so long

How odd, I don't think Henning has uttered excuse one yet, only fans on here making excuses for him. Just what are the excuses people calling for Berg's head will use should he turn it around. If he does there will be a lot of silly looking people on here. Crow and humble pie all round, here's hoping.

I actually get to see the game this Friday.

If only we had sacked Kean in the summer we should had kept players like Nzonzi. He would ha been great to have in this league.

Well, all the players except King is Kean's players and I hope Berg gets some money in january to trade in some of his players and get some players out. It would

had been interesting to see Goodwillie play with his country man Rhodes in attack, but I think Best is the better option. But we need Gomes back soon as he can score goals at this level.

Stop being such a Drama Queen. Where did I say "it's all Berg's fault?"

I don't think anyone is actually calling for Berg's head.

Everyone wants him to succeed but given the surprise of his appointment and subsequent slow start, ( coupled with the reported mandatory target of promotion this season ), it's natural that people will air concerns on a message board.

You are basically saying IF we had a better manager Murphy would be playing better - therefore as Berg is our current manager and Murphy is playing poorly is it not wrong to deduce that you think the current manager is the reason ?

And the last manager, and the one before that...

But "it's all Berg's fault" is the usual whiney crap coming from the likes of yourself at the moment. Give Hughes/ Allardyce/ even Souness a player like Murphy at this level and guaranteed they would get the best from him. Berg has started very badly. Get over it.

Amazing thing about Tugay was that he was about 5 seconds ahead of everyone on the field, including Billy big balls like Gerrard and Veron etc. Murphy has played a get it and give it all his career. Play the way you face type. Never had Tugays talent and unfortunately for us never will.

Nail on head - Kean should have been sacked then.

As for Zonz, he was and will be great in the PL. Think we 'gave him away' for something like two or three million piunds. Crazy.

I agree with that. The only other player I have seen on the same wavelength as Tugay was Bellamy. Quite often he would make runs only for inferior players to deliver the ball seconds later than he wanted it. He would get caught off-side and his frustration was apparant. Tugay was the only player who saw his early movement.

'Great' Premiership players are Shearer, Keane, Vierra, Bergkamp and Henry. N'Zonzi never has been and never will be in that class. In fact, for much of his top flight career with us he was very average.

He wanted away and Stoke were the only takers, so really the 3 mill we got was the best we could reasonably hope for. Not exactly a 'give away'.

Despite the results, I support Berg to change things. It is not easy, specially because the midfield is too weak to play in the Championship.

I hope that in January he is given the money and support to get the players he wants.

One thing that was positive for me is that he started to change the starting 11. It didn't work with MGP but it did with CKR and Lowe.

The only thing I think he should have done in the last game was bring in Givet to replace Formica or CKR to have more players to defend the result. Maybe an extra man would have prevented them from scoring.

He was average at best, showed glimpses of class, and moaned more than he performed of the pitch IMO.

Zonzi and great shouldn't be used in the same sentance mercer.

We got 3m for him didn't we? not bad business in my book.

'average at best'. Time will tell Gav. However the fact remains that whilst 'great' is ludicrous in the Prem compared to Etohu and Murphy in this league 'great' is no exaggeration. He'd absolutely boss other midfields in this league? The biter bit being that by all accounts he was driven out by Kean for whom the writing was on the wall.

Through their own crass stupidity and stubbornness the Venky's are learning the hard way.

I am with the give Berg time fans, who is to say other managers some of you wanted would have done any better with the cack that Coco left behind, we will never know, so stop whining on and get behind the manager and Team, lets see what happens in Jans ins and outs, if we are there or thereabouts top six we can still push on, have faith. I do.
