Roverall Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 People screaming Berg Out should shut up. It's been a very bad start but the guy has Rovers best interests at heart - unlike the odious carpetbagger that preceded him. Tonight was wretched but I echo what others have said - he doesn't deserve abuse- Give it to Venky's and that clown Shebby Singh.

patrickvalery Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 I'm not sure how Berg can be blamed for stupid individual mistakes by our poor center halves. To think we paid £8m for Scott Dan! I will question Berg for not playing Givet, but i honestly don't know that he would make a huge difference anyway. I've never been a fan of Hanley and he seems to be getting worse with each game. Tonight we conceded the 2nd goal at a really really bad time and never recovered, You can see how fragile the confidence of the side is at the moment. Had Formica scored that sitter we might have got something out of the game. We were in the ascendancy and we threw it away. To compound things we then make two stupid errors against the best side in the league. I don't want to be knee jerk and call for Berg's head because it does seem like he is trying to play with a side not fit for purpose. But i can't see us getting many players in January and that begs the question 'does Berg know the best way to get this rabble performing'? But i'm not sure many other managers would either. I can't imagine McCarthy getting a tune out of this lot because there isn't a leader amongst them and we're riddled with fancy dans who think they are better than they are. Expectations are high but the squad just isn't up to it.

roverandout Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 well he has done a decent job with a team that were bottom of the league, so that blows that comment out of the water

I agree re - people calling for his head but I'm already sick of hearing about Berg having Rovers interests at heart. So have I but I'd be crap as manager.

So have I but I'd be crap as manager. Well I'm sorry, but the truth does hurt sometimes. The fact of the matter is that we have a man who has sweat blood for the club at the helm. Apologies if that stymies your urges to shout things at him.
Backroom DE. Posted December 7, 2012 Backroom Posted December 7, 2012 One thing he should be credited for tonight is the changes made for the second half. Scott Dann pretty gift-wrapped two goals to Cardiff but that aside we should have scored a couple from the changes. I fully agree on the authority thing. It takes a seasoned manager to get the players disciplined. They just seem to be very individual and not working as a group. Agreed that the changes he made for the second half helped matters, but the only reason he needed to make those changes was because he completely keaned up with his initial first half selection. I don't even know what Markus Olsson was doing on the pitch, and neither did he by the looks of things. Berg's tenure so far has been characterised by one bad half and one average/good half... it's very concerning that Berg still seems to have no idea what his best team is or how to get the best out of what is admittedly a fairly pathetic bunch.
Amo Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Just be grateful it took over a month to appoint him. We'd be even further down the table.
booth Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 i hope four-eyes has the balls to do what is neccessary but i doubt it, next time lets hope shaw gets his way Shebby Singh won't do anything because it's his choice and right now he'll be praying for a turnaround, and that he doesn't get given his marching orders himself. Pretty soon there will be certain people at executive level telling Mrs D "I told you so." Berg can try the best he wants but with no experience managing in this league or even England, and having such an unbalanced squad, he was on a hiding to nothing from the start. It's very gallant to pledge your support for Berg in such circumstances but my sentimentality is blurred due to me being more worried about the club itself. We're financially keaned if we don't go up.
Rover_Shaun Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Berg is here for the cash and the chance to move up the ladder. NEVER forget that
Andy Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Berg is here for the cash and the chance to move up the ladder. NEVER forget that In fairness that applies to any manager we could/would appoint. It is worrying, but also worth pointing out that we're still suffering from the damage that the human turd Kean did to our club.

People need to smell the coffee if they think Berg is here for anything else. He's here for the club, for the fans etc etc????? Don't make me laugh As much as a despised Kean Berg is making him look like Enzo Bearzot
martonrover Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Well I'm sorry, but the truth does hurt sometimes. The fact of the matter is that we have a man who has sweat blood for the club at the helm. Apologies if that stymies your urges to shout things at him. Doesn't hurt me mate. The whole idea of employing someone as manager essentially as he used to play for a club is flawed. Shebby Singh is now discovering that.

Don't make me laugh As much as a despised Kean Berg is making him look like Enzo Bearzot Of course money is at the core of everything, but at least Berg has been a great PAID servant to the club before. Going by your logic, which I'm not saying is wrong, why do you bother with football at all then?
Rover_Shaun Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Of course money is at the core of everything, but at least Berg has been a great PAID servant to the club before. Going by your logic, which I'm not saying is wrong, why do you bother with football at all then? What are you on about. You cannot compare. I'm a fan not an employee. Doesn't matter if he's played here before. Just trying to nail all this crap about Berg loving the club etc etc. Only those in the seats and drowning in their pub pints love this club. A lot of people suspected Berg wasn't up to it and was the CHEAP option, but got shouted down. Nothing has occured to make me change that view and I think a few more are finally waking up.
Amo Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Berg is here for the cash and the chance to move up the ladder. NEVER forget that Oh, he's a total sellout. No one can deny that when he did a 180 on his opinion of Venky's. But I overlooked that on the basis that he'd come in and win football matches. This is not forthcoming.
Roverall Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 It was clear to a blind man on a galloping horse that Berg was the cheap option. He may be bad but he is no Steve Kean and he doesn't deserve to get the dog's abuse Kean did because Venky's were too cheap to give a more qualified man the job.
Rover_Shaun Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 He's not been here long enough for us to know if he's a Steve Kean. He's certainly got a penchant for a bit of bullshit though
Roverall Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Right, well I know you feel it doesn't matter, but the fact that the guy won two cups with us and got us promoted makes me inclined to wait a little longer before even suggesting he could be in the same bracket.
Backroom Tom Posted December 7, 2012 Backroom Posted December 7, 2012 I don't care if he loves the club with all his heart, if he doesn't win games it isn't good enough Lets be honest for all of our hatred of Kean if he was a good manager all of it would have been forgiven for the most part Personally wont turn on Berg yet but he has to get January right and start turning it around or patience will run out I think
Mike Graham Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 SACK...and take those Venky twots with you
glen9mullan Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Was totally shocking tonight, but just thought i'd clear one or two things up, Henning was in fact SHAW'S Choice, he made direct contact with Shaw 36 hours after Kean's departure, the job would of been Solksjaers as he was interviewed but at the last minute his wife decided she did not want to move back to the UK. Rovers had hoped to grab Adkins from Southhampton as he looked to be heading out the door, however that never came to fruitiion. Shaw had the initial talks with Berg and then Shebby met with him too, so this myth it was Shebby's choice is exactly that. Everyone knows Shebby wanted Sherwood, and the other names of interest were all in jobs. 8 games, 1 win is a poor show, I fully expect at least 3 departures before the next match. Cardiff were not great tonight, but Rovers performance was simply shocking. Just thought i'd post a few of the facts before the finger pointing starts. We should of appointed experience, and collectively we have not
Mike Graham Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 I just hope that Shebby is one of those departures Glen, he is a disgraceful man to be associated with BRFC
glen9mullan Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Who and why? No point changing the Manager then keeping the back room team which helped put us in the Championship, expect changes here
