booth Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 A lot of people suspected Berg wasn't up to it and was the CHEAP option, but got shouted down. Nothing has occured to make me change that view and I think a few more are finally waking up. He wasn't the cheap option he was Shebbys option. Venkys were willing to back whoever Shebby thought was best regardless of cost. He told them his appointment would get us up. The problem is his reasoning was flawed from the off seemingly preferring those who wouldn't rock the boat.

Jimmy612 Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Berg is here for the cash and the chance to move up the ladder. NEVER forget that Berk Name me a manager who isn't? This squad is the worst that I have ever seen. The imbalance is quite frankly appauling. There is not one fighter in there. Call Berg all you want, but if I were you i'd start looking a bit higher. You sit behind your keyboard shouting the odds about a man who has had 2 months with a completely decimated squad. I don't know if he was the right man for the job, I don't know who else wanted it, I don't know who turned it down or told Venky's to Kean off before he was given the job , and I have a hunch that you know the square root of f.uck all what happened aswell. For you to turn on Berg like he is to blame is embarrassing. In two years this club has been torn apart by 3 indians, a fraudulent first team coach and his snake tongued agent and you have the sense to sit on here and have a paddy about a club legend who I believe has come with the best intentions. I would bet a fair amount that you were celebrating when Allardyce got sacked too? Funny how you can see certain types of fans a mile off
Roverall Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Glen, we are all behind the club for a push towards promotion - however unlikely that looks at this point. At what point will BRAG return to a VENKY'S OUT stance? I am not slating the group, just curious.
Amo Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Was totally shocking tonight, but just thought i'd clear one or two things up, Henning was in fact SHAW'S Choice, he made direct contact with Shaw 36 hours after Kean's departure, the job would of been Solksjaers as he was interviewed but at the last minute his wife decided she did not want to move back to the UK. Rovers had hoped to grab Adkins from Southhampton as he looked to be heading out the door, however that never came to fruitiion. Shaw had the initial talks with Berg and then Shebby met with him too, so this myth it was Shebby's choice is exactly that. Everyone knows Shebby wanted Sherwood, and the other names of interest were all in jobs. 8 games, 1 win is a poor show, I fully expect at least 3 departures before the next match. Cardiff were not great tonight, but Rovers performance was simply shocking. Just thought i'd post a few of the facts before the finger pointing starts. We should of appointed experience, and collectively we have not Oh, now he's off to a bad start he's Shaw's choice.

Backroom Tom Posted December 7, 2012 Backroom Posted December 7, 2012 I thought Holloway was Shaws choice Then again often the truth and what's reported are different

So many people seemingly just waiting for a player to make a mistake so they can have a whinge at games. The atmosphere is poisonous at games and it isn't helping....
beerwins Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Was totally shocking tonight, but just thought i'd clear one or two things up, Henning was in fact SHAW'S Choice, he made direct contact with Shaw 36 hours after Kean's departure, the job would of been Solksjaers as he was interviewed but at the last minute his wife decided she did not want to move back to the UK. I think it's time to kickstart the delorean, gag the objector to Holloways appointment and give him the same amount of games and see how many points he would have achieved (at least we would have beat palace) if only!! We have the players minus a few hearts on sleeve players to get results but its not happening, I would hate to blame the manager but where else do you look, our first half display was dismal as it was against Burnley, lessons are there to be learnt from.
Backroom Tom Posted December 7, 2012 Backroom Posted December 7, 2012 He was Tom. I think we are seeing damage limitation afoot. I don't have an inside line or ever claim to be in the know so can only comment on conjecture and what's reported but if Berg was a Shaw choice it makes his comments the day after berg was appointed odd
Jimmy612 Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 I would hate to blame the manager but where else do you look About 4,000 miles South East I think Beerwins
glen9mullan Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Who had final say before it went to Pune? And why was Shaw suggesting other names directly to Mrs D? We have met with Shaw twice, and he made it quite clear Berg was the Man he wanted after his first conversation with him, Shaw had Holloway and Freedman also on his list of potentials. Its common Knowledge Shebby's choice was firmly Sherwood, everyone knows this and its not some secret. When Berg was spoken to by Shaw, then both Shaw and Shebby interviewed him and mutally agreed.
beerwins Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Berg links into the Shebby mould, Holloway was well documented to be Shaws choice, if people want to say it was the other way round they can to be frank eat my ass with a spoon. Glenn you are being played big time.

Holloway was always a non starter, they just got rid of a manager who lets say liked a premium or two when it came to transfer activity Berg links into the Shebby mould, Holloway was well documented to be Shaws choice, if people want to say it was the other way round they can to be frank eat my ass with a spoon. Glenn you are being played big time. Came directly out of Shaws mouth
Amo Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Wasn't it Shaw who came out and said that Berg was far from first "or second" choice? Hardly the way to welcome your man.
beerwins Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Holloway was always a non starter, they just got rid of a manager who lets say liked a premium or two when it came to transfer activity Came directly out of Shaws mouth So basically we had bugger all options when it came to selecting a new manager, thats not unbelievable tbh.
Proudtobeblue&white Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 So, in the end they both got it wrong - and we are we're we are - mid-table mediocrity
Amo Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Slow down... You said Berg spoke with Shaw 36 hours after Kean's departure. I appreciate that Shebby going for other targets may have been a hold up but surely that can't be right given the length of time it took to get Berg. "No he wasn't our first choice, far from it - we're not hiding anything there," said Shaw. "We had one or two people that we talked to who, for whatever reason, got ruled in and ruled out. "Henning contacted me personally probably seven or eight days after Steve left." He added: "There is a gamble and I think it's become more or less common [knowledge] that I thought we probably wanted someone with experience at this level. "But, without a doubt, I've no qualms with this appointment. I think he'll be wonderful for us."
chaddyrovers Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 No point changing the Manager then keeping the back room team which helped put us in the Championship, expect changes here I agree Glen, Berg needs to bring in his own coaching staff. I fully expect Brunskill and Hendry gone. maybe even Black leaving aswell with Ricky Sbragia and another to come in.
Jeru tha Damaja Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Holloway was always a non starter, they just got rid of a manager who lets say liked a premium or two when it came to transfer activity And there weren't enough rupees left over for that after agents' fees were paid at Ewood?
Proudtobeblue&white Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 All this doesn't explain where our club is today - awful defeat if front of a sub 10,000 crowd?
beerwins Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Holloway was always a non starter, they just got rid of a manager who lets say liked a premium or two when it came to transfer activity Came directly out of Shaws mouth o.....They got rid of an idiot they trusted to take over from a trusted prem league manager, infact they did'nt even get rid of him, they did'nt evn have the balls for that. If you want to buy their options for selecting a manager then you buy into their BS, when you are selecting a manager you pick one that is best for the club, who can get the best out of the players and who most of all has the best chance of getting the club promoted. Regardless of what you have been told in respect to managers fees to signing players can you think of a better manager available at the time to take us up that has a squeeky clean background? Berg maybe?......hows that working? if you believe that everyone in this business should be squeeky clean you are in the wrong trade.
Andy Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 So hang on, now Berg was Shaw's first choice, even though Shaw publicly admitted that Berg was 'nowhere near' his first choice shortly after the appointment.
