[Archived] Henning Berg - Rovers Manager

So Glen is back sharing with us all his 'inside knowledge' and, IMO, trying to absolve Shebby of blame and pin it all on Shaw.

Glen intimates Black, Brunskill and Hendry will be on their bikes.

Well I would be surprised if that happens as I doubt we can afford to as we haven't, seemingly, a pot to p1ss in !

Back to the Kean days and when results don't go your way, blame anyone but yourself, so off went a string of number twos.

No excuses, IMO, Berg is not the answer and has already made too many wrong judgement calls in terms of staff, team selection, tactics and substitutions. A man out of his depth.

o.....They got rid of an idiot they trusted to take over from a trusted prem league manager, infact they did'nt even get rid of him, they did'nt evn have the balls for that.

If you want to buy their options for selecting a manager then you buy into their BS, when you are selecting a manager you pick one that is best for the club, who can get the best out of the players and who most of all has the best chance of getting the club promoted.

Regardless of what you have been told in respect to managers fees to signing players can you think of a better manager available at the time to take us up that has a squeeky clean background?

Berg maybe?......hows that working? if you believe that everyone in this business should be squeeky clean you are in the wrong trade.

My personal choice would of been Holloway, but it never happened. We are all upset on how Bergs tenure has started, but I'm not at that stage where I want is blood. This is still the squad he inherited, and people will point to Kean had us in second, however I watched every minute of Keans games this season and how we got anywhere near second with the performaces we showed is still a mystery to me.

We have played well for spells in about three matches this season, and had one good full game. This squad needs a serious shake up and until january comes, it aint going to happen.

The signings of Murphy and Etuhu in the summer are part of the problem, we have a midfield with no bite, no clue and no sign of improvement

So hang on, now Berg was Shaw's first choice, even though Shaw publicly admitted that Berg was 'nowhere near' his first choice shortly after the appointment.

He also states in his quote that Henning made direct contact to him, and its fair to say he was none of the people who was given the job of getting a new manager first choice.

Certainly not shifting the blame at all, it was a unaminous decision across the board and Shebby for Berg to be appointed. Thats a bit different than one person carrying the can don't you think?

My goodness, is this an outbreak of 'collective cabinet responsibility' !!!

I very much doubt that Shebby, Shaw & Agnew even exchange Christmas cards.

Its not looking good with Berg, It's sad as we all wanted Kean out and we got a Kean carbon copy, honest but looks like its worse......I really don't know what to do?? But if Berg is not the answer we should act fast and not wait a la Venkys, but who wants the job?

You'd trust the chicken dipping scumbags to choose a manager again ?

Berg needs to be given time but there has been a marked decline in performances since the win at Peterborough. Sadly, it all comes down to players and ours are not good enough. In this division you need speed and strength - two qualities which the majority of our players don't have. If Shebby was being honest with the fans he would come out and say that the owners are prepared to write this season off and give the manager time and money to rebuild the squad. However, I'm not convinced that Berg will get either. I don't think he will get the money he requires to rebuild in January and I suspect he will be out come the summer when we finish in the lower half of the table.

We have met with Shaw twice, and he made it quite clear Berg was the Man he wanted after his first conversation with him, Shaw had Holloway and Freedman also on his list of potentials.

Its common Knowledge Shebby's choice was firmly Sherwood, everyone knows this and its not some secret.

When Berg was spoken to by Shaw, then both Shaw and Shebby interviewed him and mutally agreed.

You're starting to look silly. You state with certainty that which shebby tells you...mate I've never been convinced of your motives, is it not time to stand back and take a breath.

Okay, we know there are problems but let's be brutally honest, any half decent manager would select, organise and put out 11 players from our squad and get significantly more than 6 points from 8 games. Even Kean and Black had a better points / game ratio !

When you have a guy who can score goals for fun, there are no excuses.

As the character in Jimmy Grimbo said "give it to feckin Jordan" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In a nutshell Parson.

Question for everyone. How many times this season, under three different managers now, has our so called best squad in the league been the better team over 90 minutes? Peterborough..... maybe Leeds? That's two so far out of 21 games played. Yet some believe it's all down to the manager.

Results are down to the manager, end of story. In normal clubs if results aren't good enough managers get the sack, or they walk away for the good of the club because they know they cannot make any difference. Berg's a decent bloke - he'll be mortified at the results since he took over and if matters don't improve quickly I think he'll resign before the season is over.

Players are irrelevant. Managers are paid to get results and if they don't they get the sack.

Is it only me who's started looking at the other end of the table and the teams that are catching us up ?

Jim, we might be struggling but there is no way that we wont muster another 17 points from 25 games !

Feel a bit sorry for Berg this team isn't good enough if Kean had stayed we'd probably be no better off. Certainly nowhere near the top. What we need is someone to stop the rot and managers like that are Big Sam, Warnock, Mcarthy and people of that ilk. Not everyone's cup of tea but horses for courses.

Someone's backed the wrong horse. Can you please ask Shebby whether or not he had a stand up argument with Holloway during his interview?

I'd like to hear the response to that too. I doubt you would get a truthful answer though.

I think we both know the answer. Personally think Berg is on borrowed time now, not because I want him out, he deserves 18 months, but it's Shebbys rep on the line as well. The possibility of Shebby on the touch line grows closer by the day........

But people are right - its not just Berg, Venkys have to go.

If anyone still harbors the slightest possible hope that there is any chance the club will stop this downward spiral (plunge into the abyss at this point) under Venkys, beat it out of your head now. Kean was terrible, Berg can't fix the situation, but Venkys are the true cancer which needs eradicating.

Venkys must be driven out of this club. That must be our top priority. There will be progress otherwise. That is clear.

I think people are being harsh on Berg, and they tend to be the people who think we have a good squad and will walk this league.....

What that rat has done to this side during his tenure here is beyond repair short term. What confused of Pune have done to the club since they took over is currently beyond repair also.

Berg has come in and is trying to bring some order back to the playing side of things, but there's no quick fix, it's consolidation this season, HOPEFULLY! And look to push on next.

Is Berg the right manager for Blackburn Rovers? I doubt it, after all a TV pundit from the Far East picked him, a bit like giving Merson the job from soccer Saturday. But he's here and he's the manager so we should all back him, for now.

Singh out

Agnew out

Venkys out
