Criag Short is currently the head of youth recruitment at Derby County.

I have heard that both Short and Sbragia are both coming in. this was back up by a member on here who back up what I heard.

that why I block your posts from my seeing them.

You talk totally crap

Well let's hope what you have heard is utter crap, neither would be a welcome addition to the current "setup".

And yet you still managed to read his post!

Trouble is Chaddy, if anyone posts any information you demand links, yet it's ok for you to stoke up a reaction with no substance.

Reveal your sauce!

Get Phil Jones back on loan as a defensive midfelder and bring in Mikael Silvestre on a free transfer, then we have a descent defensive foundation for Nationwide football. This will alow players like Martin Olsson and Ruben Rochina playing more offensive.

Gav - it's simple, a mark of appreciation for the missus doing dinner, she loves any flowers, even the claret and blue which did bring a smile to my face ! When the flowers arrived, Burnley hadn't even played at Forest !

Seriously, we had a cracking night, including several bottles of 'claret' that they brought round, and it's all part of the 'craic' and how football should be. Really, for the first time in years, they actually believe that they are in the ascendancy whilst we are on the slippery slope. There were a couple of good articles in LT this week which probably summed-up how the Burnley lot are generally thinking:-

Local rivalry is good and healthy but the 'hatred' of some is feckin nonsense and they should get a life.

That is certainly not the way you laid it out in your original message, you deffo gave it a sinister air then you try to turn the tables. Well at least that's how I read your original message too, maybe cos I'm old like GAv.

Of course. I said previously that McCarthy would have been my first choice. You obviously aren't understanding the conversation.

Not when you continually contradict yourself, no. It is a little tricky.

I don't know why, it's quite simple.

You were one of Sam's biggest cheerleaders for the job he did here with a limited group of players. Now people are making the same case for McCarthy, you're suddenly disputing the fact.

I'm sure the Ipswich fans are delighted with their form since McCarthy took over. To argue that offers proof that a] he could have done that with our squad, and b] it's proof that the quality of player can be overcome by a managers tactics is as I said, just downright wrong.

So why did you even want McCarthy here in the first place?

The biggest way [that isn't to say only way] a manager can influence results isn't with tactics, but by bringing quality footballers in.

Tell me the footballing virtuosos that McCarthy has brought in to Ipswich so far? Bradley Orr?

Maybe he just knows how to put out a side with a gameplan? Whereas, Berg so far has proven he doesn't?

The reason we're in this mess is because we've sold every quality player that we had - an entire team of them - and replaced them with a whole bunch of has been and never will be's.

We could spend all day discussing why we're in this mess. I'll pose you a simple question:

At this time, do you think Berg is making the most of the team at his disposal?

A simple yes or no will suffice.

If you don't believe me, then Hansen said exactly this on Saturday night " we can talk formations and tactics as much as we like, but it's all about players."

Then how come the same group of players so often react to one manager and not another?

Taking that at face value, what's the point of even having managers in the first place? I mean, so long as the players are better on paper it shouldn't matter how they're set-up to play, right? That's what you seem to be implying. You're better than this, Den.

That's the way I read it also, maybe we got it wrong USA, but he does tend to post the strangest of things from time to time then back peddle at great speed LoL.

Glad you had a good night mercer.

can see where dens getting at but taking the point too far. we've sold all our best players in the last 2 years, whereas we used to do one a year but theres no doubt a good manager could do better with this squad. black worked on sorting the defence and was getting respectable results, which would have done until january. but then topman and the anti-allardyce crew have no room to be pontificating on what constitutes good management, seen as how they still don't retract that they got it wrong big time. some of them would still have us believe selling hoilett, jones, nzonzi and samba was a good idea...

As long as we are playing good (or more attractive) football, and conceding a shed load of goals, that is all that matters right.

Den, if I'm understanding your point correctly, then it makes far more sense in applying it to the premiership - where teams are often separated substantially by player quality - than the Championship where the majority of teams are on an equal footing in terms of overall squad quality.

Also, using Alan "you'll never win anything with kids" Hansen as a reference? Come on now :P

That's funny, I didn't know it was an elite group in here that pulled the trigger in allardyce, knowing this now where is the damned apology!!!!

Great to see people still harping on about allardyce, last time I looked it was the henning berg thread and Sam was sacked two years ago........

Certainly time for a reshuffle of the coaching staff. Henning is struggling to imprint his style into the team and a new coaching set up will help him achieve this.

Rumours are that Black will remain with Brunskill and Hendry leaving. That makes sense as I rate Black - I would get him working with the team on the defensive side of the game.

That is what Kamy is saying on twitter tonight

IMO Berg is partly being undermined by the players. I can see some of the logic in what he is trying to do - but he can do little about inconsistent form, missed chances or defensive mistakes.

He had persisted with roughly the same group of players - it is time for him to mix it up - at the very least we need to see Givet start...

I don't know if Berg is being undermined or not, but he's the manager and needs our backing.
