Allerdyce always used to talk about having a captain who was a leader on and off the pitch. His man was Nolan - the heartbeat of the midfield and the inspiration to many of the players around him.

We don't have that and haven't had that for 2 years.

Berg desperately needs to bring someone in January who can be his nolan.

We have some good players, but they are leaderless on the pitch and no doubt around brockhall during the week.

Not good enough from Berg.

Whether it's solely his fault or his decision/not being allowed to strip out the backroom staff who've already failed or Shebby interfering who knows.

Whilst you can blame the owners for the overall situation they can't be blamed for individual performances. The owners don't pick the team or send out a team devoid of motivation as sounded to be the case in the second half today.

Even Kean managed 14 points from seven games with this squad. And I would hardly class him as Jose Mourinho.

Things have gone completely belly up since the Peterborough game when things appeared to be moving in the right direction. The only thing I can think that has changed since then is our ill advised public pursuit of 41 year old Friedel and rumours that Robinson would be offloaded. Perhaps Berg has upset the players as a whole with this because their attitude doesn't seem to have been the same since. And yes I know they should perform just as well regardless but something isn't right.

I think Berg's reign has showed why many of us wanted an experienced manager in charge after Kean left.

But even that considered this squad is so bloody dire it's unbelievable. I think whoever was the manager would have to perform a miracle to get this rabble organised. There are far too many individualistic ‘prima donnas’ and not enough get stuck in work as a team footballers.

If I was Berg and i cared about my reputation I would walk, there is simply no way he can turn this around. Blame the poor state of the squad left to you, poor management from above and walk.

Got a feeling Berg will walk soon. Shebby and the loons from Pune will be ramping up the heat and Berg will have enough of it. It's a tricky one. I don't believe that we are the 15th worst team in the league but as many have pointed out Berg has inherited the worst Rovers side that I have seen in 20 odd years of watching us. The spine of the team is absolutely shocking. We have no leaders, the players are defeatists.

Not bringing in an experienced manager has cost us dearly as Henning is proving IMO that he's just not up to it tactically. The late goals conceded week in week out shows this.

Where we go from here I have no idea. Until those lot leave its just going to get worse. Clueless owners, players who couldn't give a flying Kean and fans dwindling in their support and love for it all. I would snap your hands off now for another relegation if it meant getting rid of 'em, but there are no guarantees. They'd still most likely be talking of Europe and dishing out 4 year deals to players who can't pass a ball and run in quicksand.

Depressing, depressing times.

Indeed. If you could have put Admiral Nelson on the bridge of the Titanic after it had been holed beneath the waterline and it would still have gone down.

The only way forward (as illustrated by Parkes and Hughes ) is to pack the team with tough, gritty and determined players and bin the Fancy Dans who neither put a foot in or do a full shift and see out the rest of the season simply being tough to score against. A player like Rhodes should sniff out enough goals to keep us in front of the bottom 3.

Oh I forgot.... Kean shipped out all those cos they wouldn't put up with his management.

Im assuming though

The only point I would make on that is that HB presumably had the opportunity to bring in a loan signing or two in key positions and all he did was do his old buddy SAF a favour by bringing in King to give him game time and imo King is too similar too and no better than numerous other players we already had at the Club.

Andy Beyes made the same point on Radio Lancs today. Claimed King didn't impress previously on loan at Preston which I can't confirm or deny either way.

I think you are confusing team with squad SR. As a team I believe we are much worse than 15th.

Berg's comments on the official site are a joke. Sounds like there is absolutely nothing to worry about apart from picking up players from a couple of set pieces. What about the 1 win in 9 Henning?

I really hope he's not trying to impersonate Kean, I thought the days of shocking post match pressers were over.

At the end of the day Tombro the owners said they would back whichever manager that Shebby said was the best. So for me anger should be vented at Shebby as it's him who felt it would be a better idea to bring in someone less experienced than the other candidates.

So far Henning has been very up front when he's not happy about things. I just don't know whether he has the ability to change things.

One thing I seriously hope does not happen is for fans to turn on Berg like they did with Kean. The last thing our fan base needs is a reputation for being hostile towards players and managers. I think we'd get more external support if we vented it all towards the owners now.

The trouble is "external support" is non-existent as far as Blackburn Rovers supporters are concerned.

There are still people I speak to who say, you shouldn't have sacked Kean.

I don't really care what any other fans think of us any more.

However, as others have said, Berg is now picking up the worst squad of players we've had in the last 20-25 years. Kean and his mates well and truly knackered our club and people seem to be under some kind of impression that this could be arrested in a couple of months.

My gut feeling is that no other manager touted wanted the job and it went to the only one who wasn't non-league. As the likes of Majiball and Kelbo has previously attested to, BRFC is poison in footballing circles. It would take an awful lot of money to get a 'proper' manager and we don't have that.

The worst thing is that any money we did have was urinated up a wall in Huddersfield bringining in a goalscorer at the expense of the team as a whole.

I was one of those that thought Berg could be a good appointment - now I'm not so sure. Results speaks for themselves and something is horribly wrong throughout the club. It will be interesting to see if appointing (his own?) new backroom staff will make immediate results on the pitch but I'm not exactly brimming with enthusiasm anymore as none of the names mentioned seem to have the quality we desperatly need. We need someone to grab this squad by the neck and (almost) threaten to kill them if they don't. If Berg is the man....not so sure - then again, who could make this gang of nobodies perform?

Watching todays match we still desperatly need leadership both on the pitch and on the sidelines. Unless there is as immediate response to todays changes I seriously will start worrying about relegation again as this lot can't be arsed. Right now we make Portsmouth seem like a wet dream.

In short: Time has passed - on current evidence I was wrong. Please prove me right in believeing in you, mr. Berg!

  • Backroom
"In the first half I thought we did really well," said the Rovers boss onRovers Player. "We were the better team and should have scored.

"But we didn't do it and conceded a soft goal against the run of play, a ball in the box and a free header again has cost us.

"So to come in at half-time one down was not a fair reflection.

"We knew that if we played the same way in the second half then we would get back into the game but we weren't able to do that, Blackpool didn't allow us to do that, we were not as good.

"Blackpool made it a much more even game and shaded it in the second half.

"They hadn't created many chances but they get the second goal, a set play again, a free header again which is very disappointing."

Uh huh.

The one saving grace has to be that Berg would probably walk if he didn't see any possible way things could be turned around. I don't think he'd cling on like Kean did – a) to keep picking up his wages and B) to stick two fingers up to the fans.

My guess is he'll wait to see how much freedom he has for improvements in January and make his decision based on that.

That's exactly what happened this afternoon Venky's and Shebby got both barrels once the second went in.

I really think Shebby will struggle to cope now the heat's on him.
