If the club wasn't willing to build the team around Rhodes (which looks like the case) then it's a poor fit and signing. The lad has talent and if you put him on many of the top sides in this league he would be banging those goals in. I thought Berg was starting to realise how to get the best out of him but that's clearly not the case.

Rhodes struggles to hold the ball up so we struggle when he is isolated up top - Erick Black highlighted this when he took over.

Aye. With Lowe & Etuhu in midfield and the condition of the pitch, yesterday was calling out for a direct approach, but Rhodes lacks the hold-up play of a Yakubu or Roberts.

He's not the sort of player to hoof the ball from back to front to and even when he gets the ball and he manages to hold it up there is nobody within a mile near him. If it's not working then change it, that's what a good manager would do.

We aren't allowed to play direct football remember. Too many supporters don't like understand it.

Yeah i said to my friend a couple of times that we looked dangerous mainly in the first half when we went direct. When the ball was played behind their defence, in

particular with Kazim running on to it, Cathcart in particular looked panicky.

An experienced manager like Allardyce would have picked up on that and tried to exploit it. However we stopped doing it after a while.

Some people need a bit of perspective here, it isn't Bergs fault we're cr@p, the players just aren't good enough. I'm sick of hearing people saying we have a great side on paper, we have a bunch of second rate misfits and far too many similar players that have had all footballing acumen coached out of them by that Scottish rat.

Yes the buck stops with Berg, but simply we’re not good enough and thats down to Venkys and the rat, its bleeding criminal what they’ve done to the town and the football club, keaning arseholes.

Agreed, but doesn't change the fact he's miles out of his depth at this level.

I'll judge Berg when he's assembled his own team, it's unfair to do so when he's only got Keans set of misfits to pick from

Not sure he's going to get the opportunity Aggy, Singh said they'd not even discussed transfer targets and the window is about to open

If Singh was inteligent, he wouldn't admit to any plans for January.

Transfers should be done quietly, even if you already know who you want in and out.

Berg is too passive in the bench, doesn't do substitutions, hardly interferes in the match.

And he can hardly do anything considering that we have Muprhy, Etuhu and Lowe for central midfielders. Too poor, unlike most thought it would be with those 3.

How can you judge that after 9 games with a load of cr@p at his disposal? bit harsh IMO

Berg knew exactly who he had at his disposal when he joined the club. His words at the time were that the target was promotion and nothing else, therefore he certainly didn't believe the squad was incapable of achieving this task. By January we'll already be very far behind and any new signings (if there are any) will take some time to gel.

It was obvious when Henning came in that we needed to pick up points before January and that the bulk of this squad would be who he had to pick from for this season. If Berg comes in and says "promotion is the target for this season" then there is NOTHING unfair about judging him based on his current team because it's the same team he will have analysed before coming out with such statements.

Or are we meant to assume Berg is immune to any and all criticism on the basis it's "not his team"?

No discussions have happened, because Singh has picked his targets.

It's then down to berg to make the pieces fit, hopefully Singh can identify the players needed to utilise his £8million striker.........

Even with these players results substandard.

Stands there looking perplexed and doesnt take initiative to make right substitutions.

He is just not the answer ( we're talking about a guy who even Bury thought wouldnt cut it )

couldnt you say the same about mick mccarthy at ipswich? look how he has gotten some results, same with freedman at bolton and dyche with burnley, at the end of the day berg has had long enough to at least have made some impact and he hasnt, there are no signs that he will either, do people really believe we will spend shed loads on the squad in the window? obviously not so we will be stuck with the same players till the end of the season, so how will berg improve things if so? when do we judge him then? at the end of the season when its too late?
