PAFELL Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 fans will say Hughes but I think he has change completely from the manager rovers had back then to now! Got too big for his boots and seems to have change as person imo I think Hughes would be able to get the best out of Rhodes.

Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted December 16, 2012 Moderation Lead Posted December 16, 2012 I think Hughes would be able to get the best out of Rhodes. We need the midfield personnel to do this first and foremost. Central midfield is the crux of the issue for me.
John Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 It would never happen but still think Hughes is a decent manager - did well with Wales, us and Fulham - didn't get that long at Man City but pro rata (points wise) they were on course for having a good season when he got sacked. Clearly did poorly at QPR this season but it is very rare to do well in every managerial job you have. Must be noted generally, IMO, there is a lack of good managers out there.
dr who true blue Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 What about this insted of sacking berg why not bring some one in with experiance to help him ie sven ,or kevin keegan.
Majiball Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 We aren't allowed to play direct football remember. Too many supporters don't like understand it. You really want that award don't you.
T.J.Newton Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 You really want that award don't you. didnt know there was one for 'arrogant, know it all of the year'.
den Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 couldnt you say the same about mick mccarthy at ipswich? look how he has gotten some results, same with freedman at bolton and dyche with burnley, at the end of the day berg has had long enough to at least have made some impact and he hasnt, Oh not this again. So McCarthy has improved results at Ipswich and Freedman has at Bolton .......... and so what? Maybe McCarthy had options at Ipswich, maybe they had simply been underperorming for whatever reason. Whatever happens at other clubs happens there, it's nothing to do with the situation at rovers. Tell you what RandO. You pick me a defence that can dominate the oppositions strikers. Give 'em nothing in the air, nothing on the ground, is physically stronger than the other side and can match 'em for pace as well. In fact pick me a defence that offers just one of those qualities. Then pick me a midfield that can dominate the other team, outpass them and control the game. Give me the midfield that can make runs from back to front and give me the wide men that can go past a full back and get quality service into Rhodes. This Championship is a poor, poor league and we're currently 15th. You mention Bolton improving under Freedman - well when I saw the game between these two sides recently, Bolton were man for man, individually better than rovers all over the pitch. So what do you expect Berg to do - I guess you think his tactics are wrong. Well, take a step away from the keyboard. In fact take a step outside your front door and walk back 100 yards to get a full view of what's happened to our club over the last two seasons. Where we are now as a club, and where we are in this league has very little to do with Berg or his tactics. Berg might, or might not make a manager at Ewood, but at the moment he has no chance.
roverandout Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 i agree, it goes deeper than berg, venkys are to blame, yes!!! but still at the end of the day as its a poor league as you say then how bad does this make berg look when he got a team that was just outside the play-offs down to 15th in the space of 9 games? our midfield is kean, our defence is powder puff but any decent tactician could at least utilise his own qualities to make up for a poor team, like eric black did. Would you say west brom or norwich are worthy off being in the top 7 player for player compared to some of the bigger clubs around them? no but their managers have worked their magic and know-how into making them into a better unit, who would have given greece a prayer of winning euro 2004 with their squad? good managers know how to get the best out of poor/medicore players be it with tactics or motivation!!!
Athlete Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 unless Berg isn't picking the side we are now well into his reign and he is clearly out of his depth , no service for a striker , players out of position , the midfield situation never mind central defence ! what was the run at Lillestrom which saw Berg get the axe. we all know it's Venkys fault but the buck stops on the playing side with the manager

Very true , Berg cannot be held responsible for the dross signed by Kean and Shebby ,, Thing is I think he will resign if results continue ,bigger job then he thought it was and it is beginning to show on him ...
rovers_rob Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Just read this article about the blog night with Shebby and I can't believe this part ... Shebby said that if the unfortunate situation arose where Henning Berg needed to be replaced, it would not take 5 weeks to do so, as there are now managers out of work, who were not when the last appointment was made. I am guessing that he has someone in mind already to replace Berg. Obviously Berg is under pressure but comments like this in public don't help.

First thing to motice is that you didn't name me that defence or midfield that I asked for. It doesn't make Berg look anything, it merely confirms that whatever team he picks it makes no difference. Took us down to 15th? Well if you saw the early games under Kean you'll have seen that was coming - unless you now think Kean was a master tactician? Forget tactics fella, this has very little to do with us losing games like we are. The players to a man are being outplayed by their opponents. Tactics can't work if the players aren't good enough to carry them out - and it's been like that since we sold our best players. We've been crap for two years now, it's not all suddenly gone wrong since Berg came in. Tell you what. I reckon all, or most of those that think our problems must be tactical, are the fans who thought it wise to get rid of people like Nzonzi, Samba, EHD, Nelsen, Jones etc, etc. Fan who didn't have any appreciation of how difficult it would be to replace them.

jim mk2 Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Bloody nonsense being spouted on here. The Rovers squad has flaws but then so does every team, even ManU and Chelsea. Any decent manager would have improved this current team through better coaching, tactics, man-management and motivation but the plain fact is Berg has failed dismally on every count. Ipswich looked no-hopers 2 months ago but McCarthy has turned them round and to say he or any other reasonably competent manager would not have made an impact at Ewood because of the players is plain daft.

John Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 I can't believe Shebby is spending so much time with Ali and he is even down at the training ground shadowing. Ali is no where near a professional football coach so why are we even bothering, absurd and just strange.
ABBEY Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 They are all associated with those other 4 letter words like: s**t, Abbs, twit, k**b and fool. my apologies to Abbs! MMMMMMMMM???? AT LEAST YOURS IS BANTER...UNLIKE SOME . I HOPE ;p unless Berg isn't picking the side we are now well into his reign and he is clearly out of his depth , no service for a striker , players out of position , the midfield situation never mind central defence ! what was the run at Lillestrom which saw Berg get the axe. we all know it's Venkys fault but the buck stops on the playing side with the manager OK THEN WHAT BERG GOES...ANOTHER PUPPET GETS BROUGHT IN ...CAN YOU TRUST THE SCUMKYS TO APPOINT A TOP NOTCHER?

Ricky Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 I'd be very happy indeed if we are bringing Macdonald in. Good track record of developing young players.
broadsword Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 no point is there? It's all bloody pointless until we beat the venky virus.
koi Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Mark Hughes I presume ! More likely he's thinking of Kean, he's out of work..
Roost Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Part of the long term vision? I doubt that very much - he probably doesn't even know what's happening in the morning. The guy is a fool of the highest order
roverandout Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 how many coaches will we go through until we get THE ONE!? surely people can see it must lie deeper than bad coaches.
