[Archived] Henning Berg - Rovers Manager

Best thing Berg can do both for himself and Rovers is to walk and sing his heart out.

He probably doesn't need a 'pay-off'.

From a personal angle, he would maintain his integrity and what remains of his managerial reputation on the basis that he wasn't allowed to do the job.

From the fans' perspective, it might just cause the 'explosion' we all need and, metaphorically, shake the place to bits.

But surely either relegation, or the gradual effect of very low attendences should have had a far greater impact than a recently appointed manager resigning.

I suppose it could be the straw that breaks the camel's back but I'm not sure it's worth losing a manager on the off chance.

dont use twitter, but northern rover is kamy, right.?

Yup that is me.

cheers.

i´ve just read the blog, but it was´nt revealing, perhaps you now something we dont know ?

Will give this one more post before my I drop dead with a migraine but that first sentence is the exact reason you and the rest of the good football gang opposed Allardyce.

I've always been a realist about Rovers. To me, Souness was a brilliant manager because he promoted us, won a trophy and finished 6th. To some fans he was awful because he had 1 bad season, not being realistic in my opinion. Same deal with Allardyce, kept us up and achieved a top half finish working on a transfer budget of around -£20m. But some fans criticised him because the football wasn't pretty enough, again total lack of realism.

Berg on the other hand has taken over a squad that was 2nd in this league under Kean, and has produced with it a set of results that have us 20th in the form table. Is it unrealistic to demand better? To be honest in 10 games time I'd be astonished if you don't agree with me, although of course it'll be too late by then to utilise the January window and save our season. Which is the whole point of the argument that he needs to go now.

Its not called supporting the club, its called agreeing with you. The Big Sam era shows that you support the club as and when you feel like it, you didn't feel like it then, you feel like it now. I'm the opposite, as I base my support/criticism on whether someone is taking us up or down the league.

excellent post mate.

am I the only one here who thinks
 • Rovers most decorated player (post war)
 • a player who's won almost everything
 • studied under some of the best managers
 • knows how to get out of this league
 • Has had experience dealing with crappy owners

that berg should be given sometime to get his own team together ?

Two of them apply to Paul Ince and he was also a very decorated player.

As I posted on twitter I can honestly see Henning walking away from the Rovers. Dan Clough's article in the LT today tells it how it is. I just can't see any decent manager wanting the Rovers job under current conditions.

TImeframe?

If he was to go, I sincerely hope Desai blames Shebby for the whole affair and he follows him out of the door.....wishful thinking I know, but then Shaw is free to try and entice McLeish.

Formica and Nunes was injured so who else can we had played Wide right. only Vukcevic.

But he didn't! Vukcevic played on the left on Saturday.

agree. Berg has to be in charge of footballing matters like Tactics, coaching staff and team selection like any normal manager is.

Has to be? I thought you just told me Berg wouldn't stand for that kind of thing?

Although everyone hast to continue to give their support, your post makes perfect sense. This isn't a means of support affecting the results. The cuts are much deeper and will take much longer to heal. Do I think if we had 25,000 fans at Ewood every week the team would perform amazingly and consistently win? Do I heck.

The problem really is, that people are of the opinion that we should be playing much better football with the current crop of players. IMO, we still dont have the right balance or the right players to be playing silky carpet football. Robinson looks lost just throwing the ball a few yards in front of him, as if to say to himself, is this really what i have to do?

We have played some of the best teams in the PL, and under the likes of Hughes, Souness, and Sam we use to constantly bully them, we were in their faces, and we used to be known as the most dirtiest team in the league. Worst disciplinary record, players getting sent off, yellow cards flying around, bloodied faces etc... The players kits were dirty, Souness and Hughes looked like they were ready to enter the field and get involved.

There was passion, commitment, energy, and desire to win. We have players now who are totally lost, no passion, no energy, and no real need to get their bodies battered.

Just my view on it though

Bit of a moot point though surely? I didn't see the game so wasn't aware of that, but the only other contenders would have been Markus and Pedersen. I think most of us would have wanted Vukcevic there given those two options.

I have just been told Berg stormed out of training half way through the session this morning, had a shower then left. Apparantly Shebby told Ian McDonald (who was observing the session) to leave and this angered berg who subsicuently left

Do you mean Kevin MacDonald ?

To be fair though mate, you also heard that Holloway was a nailed-on dead cert.

Not that I'm bitter. Or £20 worse off.

Just off topic.'Lonely death' of ex-Rovers star Chris Thompson

http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/blackburn/10114335._/?

Very, very sad.

Thommo gave absolutely everything and had a fair goal return.

In those days, it was more easy to forgive any shortcomings as, in the main, the players gave their lot in marked contrast, IMO, to the pampered overpaid, overrated, couldn't care less lot we have now.

Singh asking McDonald to leave half way through the session caused Berg to storm off then - am I reading correctly ?

Why was Kevin Macdonald even on the training ground, when Black and Brunskill are still part of the team? imo, that should not even be allowed right now, so without trying to defend Shebby(if this is actually true), he could just have been angered by it. If Berg stormed off, then its not right of him to have done that, esepcially as macdonald has not been appointed yet.
