Muddboy
Just seen the official statement on the club website. How sad it is that we have to issue things like this to clear up nonsense stories that have sprung up in the press. It's the job of the club's PR department to manage that, FFS! Just something else that makes our club look completely stupid. I despair!

sharpysharps
Just read the club statement. If you ask me, there shouldn't even have been a Christmas party the way Rovers have been playing. Think I read somewhere that the QPR players cancelled their own Christmas party because they wanted to focus on winning football matches. Feel for Berg, but I suspect that Agnew is up to his old tricks again with this latest story.
neophox
It was more a teamspirit christmas dinner with no alcohol consumed, I hope we start of winning on saturday.
T.J.Newton
Pathetic that he has been forced to release this statement, i dont even no the story of what went on at the xmas party yet, but unless something illegal happened who gives a toss. SHEBBY SINGH & PAUL AGNEW LEAVE OUR CLUB YOU PATHETIC ARROGANT SCUM.
neophox
If its a struggle between Singh and Shaw/Agnew, why don't Shebby just tells Mrs. Desai to pull the trigger and sack Shaw and Agnew and get John Williams and Tom Finn back?

jim mk2
Also, why was Berg making a fool of himself by joining in childish games - he's supposed to be the manager and a figure of authority. Quote: "Instead I was asked to do things which were not the right things for me to do as the manager" Thank you Henning. <Now we hear that Berg was 'humiliated' and 'stormed off' when it turns out he didn't. You have to question how these stories are getting out there, and why. Berg did feel humiliated - look at his quotes. He also left at 9.30pm - obviously in a huff. LeChuck
Club Statementhttp://www.rovers.co.uk/news/article/club-statement-161212-551504.aspx? What a joke we are! Who is giving these stories to the national press?
thenodrog
I guess we won't know the facts but from that it sounds like our Henning is a bit of a boreball! Really? So you think Hughes would have aquiesced to that? Or GS or SA or Kenny? Cos I certainly don't. A manager must command respect and that is not likely when any dignity has been stripped. Tell you what try getting the DJ to do that at the MU Christmas do. As for Christmas do's any boss / owner / MD etc etc should flerk off as soon as the coffee is served. Cos after that it always ends in tears.
jim mk2
Anyone with an eye for a news story and a sense of mischief can have a field day at these parties. I'd have been straight on the phone to my contacts.

cesus
No alcohol for the players, no party games to allow for pictures showing our manager assing around during our appalling run, probably the best possible outcome for an undeserved Christmas party. Who the hell is leaking the stories though!?!
Andy
Although it's crazy that the club have released a statement based on somebody's mischievous comments. However, I am pleased that Berg has come out and straightened the record so promptly.
thenodrog
Man out of his depth, under pressure and heading for the exit door. Maybe. But why are you enjoying Berg's apparent downfall so much? I've never met him but whatever the quality of his management I have him down as a decent bloke. A term that hardly applies to you does it Jim? Small wonder then that the amount of criticism you are attracting on here is increasing is it? imo there is no need for you to sound so smug about it cos even if you have the satisfaction of being right it will only take the club down another step toward oblivion. Big sam won't be returning you know.

I didn't realise this place was a popularity contest but if it is then I'm afraid you're bottom of that particular list. You also take enjoyment out of Rovers' fall from grace and mention it at every opportunity.

I suspect Berg insisted that this statement be put out. I doubt that "the Club" had anything to do with it other than accept his insistence. What a shabby laughing stock we are. Steve Kean's Hypnotoad
You know what I'm saying though, Jim.Kean should have been lampooned Christian Gross-style but never came close. A couple of the broadsheet journalists pointed out his results but in the main it was either positive or silent. Now we hear that Berg was 'humiliated' and 'stormed off' when it turns out he didn't. You have to question how these stories are getting out there, and why. National sympathy for Kean was huge could be a reason. Everyone else has always been of the opinion that a club the size of Rovers shouldn't be in the PL anyway, so our relegation was seen by many as us falling back into the natural order rather than anything being Kean's fault. Sliding down the Championship in our first season with £16m of parachute money over 21 other clubs has probably pushed us past the natural order though in their eyes and finally represents a disaster even going off their low opinion of our club. Basically (somehow!) I don't think they unanimously saw Kean as being a comically bad manager, whereas they're very quickly seeing Berg as one. thenodrog
With ref to the link aboveIf Rovers could get £3.5m for Formica then IMO we should sell him. Also, sell these Portugeezers if they are not good enough. This, should provide a little war chest for the manager to bring in some more 'suitable' players for this league. 3.5 m is what we paid for him. They wont offer anything like that imo and no doubt whatever they do pay will be subject to a 'slice' heading off to some Swiss bank account or other. Rover_Shaun
I don't know what's worse. Berg having the sense of humour of the Borg or his release of a press statement over meaningless gossip As Jim said, and I said before that, Berg is showing signs of a man under immense pressure. I wonder how much cash it would have taken for him to sing "I will survive" with stockings on his head and fake plastic boobs on considering he pimped his opinion for cash to get the job when he chaged his "nobody with any credibility would work for Venkys" opinion
