[Archived] Henning Berg - Rovers Manager

i was right - Berg knew he was out of order. Look at his quotes this morning.

This Christmas party should not even have taken place, as non of them deserve a party. Not the players, not the manager, not any of the staff. However, whatever happened there, should never have reached the media, and again, some snake within the club, has gone on and made it look as if there was more to it.

Ive never known this club, to release this many unecessary statements, and especially have the manager try to explain things. This use to be done with great authority by John Williams, who would be at the forefront of any happenings at the club. When he said things, they were done with the utmost professionalism you could ever wish for. This club is drowning slowly, when you have bloody fools at the top, who dont know what they are doing.

Nobody's enjoying Berg struggling, why on earth would we be? In fact I'd say his critics are enjoying it even less than his supporters, as his critics seem to be more aware of what a complete and utter catasrophe it will be for the club if we don't get promoted this season. And the accusation that fans blowing every little thing out of all proportion to discredit him, what is the need or point in doing that? 1 win in 9 games is 1,000 times more discrediting than some daft incident on a christmas do.

The detached, maybe at times harsh, tone being used by some (myself included) is purely down to the urgency of our situation and the worry that irrelevant things like sentimentality could stall his removal long enough to write off this season, financially the most important season in the club's history.

a few other struggling clubs cancelled there christmas parties and rightly so...the overpaid T****** don't deserve one

even having a christmas party Berg should have been proffesional enougth not to put him self in any silly situations..

we already 8 points adrift of the play offs alone so unless we go on one momentous run the seasons over as far as promotions concerned then it's a case of making sure we stay up and consolidate as best as we can and then see what happens in the summer..

the best Christmas present would be for Venkys , Singh , Shaw , Agnew , etc all to FO

No one was expecting "instant success" but equally no one was not expecting the team to perform worse and fall like a stone out of the promotion race. No one wants Berg to fail but it's not looking good is it ? .

Personally don't think we have performed worse - indeed in some of the matches we have played a lot better. I don't know whether Henning ran over a cat as he entered Brockhall or what - but all the luck we had early season has deserted us big style.

For all concerned Saturday is huge.

For the first time since the change of manager open dissent was heard from the fans once Blackpool's second went in.

Ewood will be a depressing place on Saturday before a ball's even been kicked because of rows of empty seats.

If it starts going wrong again on the pitch the flak will fly ( mostly at Singh / Venky's ) but surely something has to give at some level if the team fails again.

Berg is working under intolerable conditions but he knew what he was coming to.

Had he arrived before Venky's ownership we could've appraised his managerial abilities more easily.

Only an absolutely top level, experienced manager could've had a hope in hell under this lot.

Starting to really feel for Berg now he is obviously in the middle of a huge game

Whilst his record so far doesn't fill me with confidence I think its becoming more and more likely that outside influences are preventing him haven't full control

Hope on Saturday we show we are behind him from the get go

Is Henning being used to look a fool both on and off the pitch so as to make Kean look more favourable in the media and public eyes.

.... and then pave a return for Kean? I can see it now -"well i left the club in the play-off places and they're struggling, so I'm coming back, dignity intact, to help the club out. Attendances have got even worse since I left. We'll get worsleves promoted this year and be in the Champions League in 3 years".

In any normal world the above would be impossible, in Venkys/Kentaro world.....

You're right its not looking good Jim, couldn't agree more, but we're Rovers fans and we should support the manager until he deserves our support no more. You're posts of late do seem to be revelling in his struggles, and thats not right.

I get the impression that you were of the opinion that new manager meant certain promotion, that was never going to happen, and this season is about steadying the ship and hopefully pushing on next IMO, thats not happening at the moment I know, but I'm sure it will.

Bergs a decent guy, a major part of our history, and deserves more than 9 games to prove himself, some people need to get some perspective.

His version was?

Not that it massively matters. The problem is the leak and it's slant not what went on. Unless Berg made an utter fool of himself or lamped one of the players then I can't see what happened at the party having too much effect.

He was dressed in more that a wig or hat and the DJ got him dancing then started to rip him on the mic then he lost it and stormed off not happy and left about 20 mins later

8 points is nothing in this league. Granted it will now take a momentous run to catch up with the top 2, but the play-offs is a hell of a lot better than nothing. I don't understand how we're going to consolidate after a season in which our revenue has been down around £40m on the season before. Barring some incredible and totally out of character generosity from Venkys, our wage bill will have to take a big hit. And wage bill translates into success more accurately than anything else in football. Thats why Williams used to blow our entire annual revenue on it to keep us competitive in the PL. Whoever is in charge next year will have twice as hard a job as our managers this year, which is why its a travesty we're throwing our best chance at a guy not even good enough for Lillestrom.

Please show where I've said a "new manager meant certain promotion" and I will stand corrected. No one is revelling in Berg's struggles but results have been appalling, we've gone from 3rd since Kean left to 5th when Berg took over to our present position in mid-table. No one will be more pleased than me if Berg can turn this round but you have to admit at the moment that seems highly unlikely.

Probably because over the last couple of months everything that you've posted from your "sources" has turned out to be complete sh!te!!

quote them all please pal. Apart from the Holloway one which was nailed on until Shabba managed to get his way for a yes man/puppet the rest have been bang on!!! My guess is you didnt donate to the boycott ad that inevitably ended in Kean going not too long after

I never said that you'd said that, but from your comments 'I get the impression' you thought we'd go up.

And yes I agree Berg doesn't look like turning this around anytime soon, but he deserves our support, and he'll have mine for a while longer yet.

Ouch
