Well I ain't over-reacting. Said it was a terrible appointment before Palace and maintain its one after. You can make excuses for Berg tactically given how little time he's been in the job. But what's his excuse for the players playing without an ounce of motivation or fire? Look at Bolton's performance against Cardiff, unpolished but passionate. That's what's supposed to happen when a new manager comes in. We're in deep trouble because we took yet another risk.

Sorry if I keep saying it but Freedman is an absolute gem.

Understand he was on Rovers' initial list, well the rest is history.

Bolton have got themselves one smart cookie as manager.

Our problems revolve around the players who have been brought in over the past two years. They are not good enough and it will take Berg time to get rid of the deadwood - of which there is plenty - and bring in his own men. Personally, I'm more than happy with Berg and believe he will be good for the club in the long run as long as people don't expect miracles overnight.

I am disgusted with some of the comments on here, a new manager has to be given a little time, not 2 days, indeed, when we speak of Freedman, do remember he was managing in the league and would know all the teams and players, personally, I prefer a manager who learns to walk before he can run, we dont need quick fixes at Rovers, we need a proper improvement over the season, we are so unfit it just isnt true and we do need a fitness coach in pronto and remove Singh and Agnew, we dont need them, spend the cash on the football side and not on idiots, I stand to be ridiculed on here in the future with this comment but, I believe by the end of the season, Berg will look the better manager of McCarthy, Freedman and Holloway!

I genuinely believe its a case of to many egos, too many languages being spoken and loyalty to kean by Murphy etc

I think it's because we are massively unfit, and lack some essential parts to our squad, I.e. Strikers and anyone with pace.

Saying that is just as ridiculous as saying Berg is doomed to failure. In fact more so, I'm prepared to give Berg a chance but he hasn't exactly had a brilliant career so far.

Hmm...that helps to put it in perspective doesn't it?

And...........if we have to sack him in 2 months there will likely be some new applicants: Hughes, O'Neill, Rodgers............

None of those managers will want to join Rovers. Not a chance in hell.

Sorry about the Lancashire Telegraph post. Just that I don't have an account to post on there, so I ended up venting my frustration here instead. It won't happen again.

And who is MG Road?

By the way, Abbey, I'm neither pro-Venkys nor anti-Venkys. I'm in the middle......at least we didn't get Fayed Ali (or whoever that dude was) or Thaksin......there are worse owners out there, one of them even sent Portsmouth into adminstration. But I'll go with the flow and say yeah, Venkys have made plenty of mistakes and caused our relegation along with Steve Kean.

If the fans don't back the manager and give him time, I fear our job will be like the old Newcastle job. No quality manager will touch us. We have a bad reputation after the Kean debacle. Let's not give them a chance to hammer us in the media again. We need to pull in the same direction. Results may not come straight away but one thing we have to make sure is that our support is there from Day 1.

Understand and agree with the sentiment behind your post. Unfortunately the last five weeks have proven "no quality (which for me means experienced) manager will touch us."

Either that or it proves Singh hasn't a clue - probably both in reality.

We had Shaw driving the manager search and wanting an experienced manager (Grayson and Holloway, to name a few). These managers were willing to come, but SS rejected these proposals, I believe.

So we can attract quality managers with experience, but just have an idiot running the show at Ewood.

Heard Sherwood actually met the owners along with shabby and when he asked would he have full control of in comings and out goings + team affairs he was told no so he told them no thanks to the job . This is the reason I am sceptical....If we don't go up it could seriously damage the clubs future..lets hope and support Berg has the backbone to tell these idiots what needs to be done to have even a sniff of a chance of going up IMO we have a lot of overpaid dross underperforming ie : Murphy , CKR

Come on. We have all heard bits of rumours like this. This was also said about Berg, but I am 100% sure that he wont be a puppet - so why would he accept the job then? If it is correct we might see Berg leaving his post before christmas.

Berg was on norwegian TV last night. Was very dissapointed with the perfornance against CP, but knew what has to be done.

Its fantastic that Berg came in (might have been Black) and gave Adam Hanley the chance right away. Think it is a sign that Berg will use youth if the overpaid dross is underperforming.

We also saw Vukcevic on the pitch and according to reports and also on the radio he did quite well.

I hope your right .....I totally agree with you great to see the team altered ( hope more alterations are done as it sure needs it ) , really hope it works out but can see the shabby singh interfereing + if that happens Berg needs to tell them in no uncertain terms to butt out + if they don't any bloke worth his salt would telll these clowns to bin the job

I am amazed that Berg is under the pressure of gaining promotion before he even had chance to sit down - if Kean had not walked, did they really expect him to achieve it?!

Actually, yes. Kean's, and the owners', aim was to secure top flight football. Of course, whether he is competent enough to achieve it is another issue altogether, but that was the minimum they demanded of him.

Don't buy this excuse that Berg's got a mediocre squad to work with. Kean was an awful manager and he had it in 2nd, so doesn't it stand to reason a decent manager should have it in 1st? The general consensus a week ago was that we had the best squad in the league, and while Kean has made it quite unbalanced, I would probably agree with that on the individual quality we have. Anything but promotion is total failure in my opinion, and you can guarantee our squad won't be as good next year if we stay in this league, financial pressures will make that inevitable.

If it is so imperative that promotion is achieved and if the threat of dismissal is there if it is not achieved then it is surely of paramount importance that Henning is given a free reign to run the show as he sees fit. If SS or Venkys or any of the Clowns do not see fit to let him run the show or do not heed his advice or requests (transfers etc) then it is they who are contributing or even causing any failure to obtain promotion, will they be dismissed?, we all know the answer to that.

No the general consensus was that we were high up as we were because of a combination of good luck and the very poor level of the opposotion we had played

The first time this team has played a good team we have been found out. It is now we will see how the players, managers and back room staff respond whether we have a strong squad or not.

[/quoteWe have to be up there with the best squads but the holding midfield was never sorted out since JJ left.
