broadsword Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 If the club is losing £2m plus per month where they ever going to go for a proven manager you know they werent. Is that the reliable figure of how much we're losing?

JAL Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Is that the reliable figure of how much we're losing? No, just going off whats been posted on here missed out the words alleged and rumours.
Kelbo Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I'm not writing him off on 3 days and 1 game. I'm writing him off on the fact that he was sacked by a club about the size of Kilmarnock, thats why I objected the instant he was appointed. All Palace has done is start to confirm my view that he's out of his depth and we were insane not to go for a manager experienced in this league. Smug isn't really how I feel, its more an angry, bitter, dejected feeling about how Venkys and their contemptible cronies have learnt precisely zilch in 2 years. The smug element is for specific abrasive cases like yourself who clearly aren't used to people disagreeing with them. Did you realise that the players sold were indeed their best players not to be replaced, including a 13 goal in 14 games striker? You cant judge a man on a game when he has had less than two days to prepare the team, you can judge him on his immediate appraisal of what was wrong, now lets see how he addresses things before you continue further, I will reiterate, Holloway at the moment, is a one trick pony, ie: Blackpool out of several clubs he managed, so lets not get carried away here, give the lad a break, Palace confirmed nothing either way regarding Berg, the only thing it confirmed was we are so unfit and whoever manages an unfit side will have immense problems!

Come back after Berg has had a transfer window plus a few matches and I will listen to your argument. At the moment you have zilch facts to back it up. See post from Stand & Deliver and Kelbo.
Backroom Mike E Posted November 5, 2012 Backroom Posted November 5, 2012 The Palace game confirmed two things to me about Berg: He's good at spotting problems quickly and attempting to rectify them (Henley for Orr and subbing CKR). Despite a loss (to the 2nd best team in this league, who are in good form, but hey-ho!) I already feel the club is in safer hands. Black felt safer than Kean and Berg feels safer than Black. Maybe it's because I'm having a flashback to Hughes' early days, but I feel good about Berg. As mentioned before, Hughes only managed 2 wins in his first 14. I'm confident Berg can better that and get us to the play-offs (at least that would be a bit more TV money and potentially some Wembley money, even if we don't go up)?
Guest Rovers4Good Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 the squads struggles this season, is down to the damage which Steve Kean caused. No matter which manager had been appointed which includes Redknapp, it would have needed time to sort out. Our problems lie in the board room, because now we are putting so much pressure on Berg, who has to try and rectify the current problems. Let Berg manage the team, let him select his own players, and let him go through a few defeats and wins etc just to understand where exactly the squad needs to improve. We have been through a hell of a tough 2 years, so we have to try and be a little patient and support Berg. We as fans, we are far to judgemental early on. Our squad is big enough and good enough to be in the Prem. The reason why we are where we are is down to Venky's and Kean. Venky's have no idea about football and have been advised by people who're just out to make a quick buck. Kean on the other hand was the most deluded man i've ever seen and nearly every word that came out of his mouth was rubbish. The only way forward in my eyes is to get rid of the owners as they're just going to make bad mistake after mistake.
Howler Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Bringing Henley straight in and giving Vukcevic a run out look like encouraging signs to me. If he can get the squad fit and bring some hunger into the players then we will be competitive in and around the top 6 I think. He needs time and the fans' patience and support. I agree with many of the posters on here saying our team isn't that special compared with the 3-4 teams we have played so far. I saw some of the Bolton game and thought the likes of Eagles, Petrov, M Davies, christ even K Davies and Ngog would get into our team pretty easily.
Salgado Is A Hero Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Eagles - yes. Petrov - rather have a motivated Martin Olsson. M Davies - yes, would have had him last season as well, don't know why he's still there. K Davies & Ngog - rather have Best and Rhodes, any day of the week.
broadsword Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Dean Jones @DJones_People Blackburn's Mrs Desai wants to give Morten Gamst Pedersen a new deal - cos she feels sorry for him over Shebby Singh's pensioner taunt I do hope this is wrong. either that or Berg stands up to her and gets his way (some hope).
The Rover of Finland Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Morten is hugely overpaid already and doesn´t he have a next season lasting deal?
rovers11 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I think the important point to remember about the losses rovers are making each month are that Venky's are making a lot of money from other business interests by being associated with the rovers name. Venky's confirmed this recently in an interview so the losses we are making need to be put into context.
rhodie Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Anyhow back on topic,H..B. is going to need a bit of time to change not only the way we are playing but also the mindset of the players. We were starting to see some changes with Black running the show especially with clean sheets. One of the biggest problems we have had under Keans rule has been inconsistency once that is rectified fully there are going to be a few pastings handed out.
Waggy76 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 There was hardly an immediate reaction when Souness took over. We limped to midtable from the midtable position he took over from. The next season we were hardly cracking flags but 2 or 3 mid season signings changed that. Jack was pulling the purse strings too , also there was real talent in the squad Jansen , Duff , and Dunn , no one in their class now ! Souness , was an ideal candidate he was hard and arrogant just what this lot needed .. But I am not ante Henning Berg , just stating my opinion I also , think that Ipswich will finish higher than Rovers ,.. .
onlyonejackwalker Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Just seen Berg on SSN. May be a repeat. Felt sorry for him having to respond to questions regarding the potential award of a new contract for MGP. Welcome to the mad house.
bob fleming Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Just seen Berg on SSN. May be a repeat. Felt sorry for him having to respond to questions regarding the potential award of a new contract for MGP. Welcome to the mad house. Just on that point. How did that end up in the Sunday People? Did Desai ring it through for them? In whose best interests is it to run that story? Not Morten's, not Berg's? It certainly wasn't going to shift papers. Why?! Point scoring against Singh? They're just as bad as each other from where I'm sitting and it's all down to a lack of due care and attention from Pune. Again.
Claytons Left Boot Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 The last time we were in this division, it was a two year exercise to get out. Whilst I feel the standard then was higher than today, our 2001 team would wipe the floor with the current crop. It was rather naive of Mr Singh to put pressure on Henning by 'requesting' the job be done this season. I will be more than delighted to have a top ten finish this season with promotion the year after, although I am not entirely convinced even this will happen with Venky's at the helm.

That is the best post , I have seen for sometime .. There is nothing I can disagree with ,,
John Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Berg has got some major work to do - we have fundamental problems in that we don't play like a team, have little pace in the side and are very unfit. Hence why most of our performances have been dire this season.
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Jack was pulling the purse strings too , also there was real talent in the squad Jansen , Duff , and Dunn , no one in their class now ! It is interesting - I admit we had a better squad when we got promoted - but at the start of the promotion season would people not be saying "Jansen - too greedy needs to learn when to release a ball" - "Duff - when will he ever get to the next level" - "Dunn - needs to cut out the showboating". Souness built a team around these players - added some experience - and second half of the season it all came together. We have a large number of players who need to make the step up - as the likes of Duff, Jansen and Dunn once did. Berg needs to bring a better team and work ethic - and hopefully improve the fitness - I still think we have players capable of getting us out of the division given the right platform.
Steve Kean's Hypnotoad Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Just seen Berg on SSN. May be a repeat. Felt sorry for him having to respond to questions regarding the potential award of a new contract for MGP. Welcome to the mad house. And the hope was he's gonna come in and put a stop to nonsense like this. Pfft good luck, about as good a start off the pitch as we've had on it.
Mercer Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 If anyone wants to make some easy money, get on Appleton for Blackpool now. Odds shortening by the minute but would go big.

Pfft good luck, about as good a start off the pitch as we've had on it. How long do you propose to keep this up ? He doesn't actually own the club you know. You're not Derek Shaw by any chance are you? Still sulking cause you didn't get your way ?
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Morten is hugely overpaid already and doesn´t he have a next season lasting deal? This better not be true ! Complete and utter waste of money !
Stuart Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I just hope Berg has the stomach for all this. If he walks out citing outside influences we'll be in all kinds of kean.
