Blue n White Rover Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Very active on the touch line today. Giving advice to young Henley and constant dialogue with Murphy and Dann. Looked passionate, something we've missed on that touch line for years!

Athlete Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Megson? Jones? Davies? Are you having a giraffe? Everyone seems to be overplaying the value of "experience." Generally when a manager is "experienced" it means they're not particularly good but have just been around a long time. Manage for a while with varying degrees of success, tail off, get the sack, then straight back on the managerial merry go round to swap places with another "experienced" manager who has just got the boot. Whilst up and coming young coaches invariably don't get a look in. Several of our Norwegian posters have made excellent contributions explaining why Berg's record in Norway may well have extenuating circumstances. He might not turn out to be the answer, he might turn out to be absolutely brilliant. But it's far too early to be passing any sort of judgment after one game. If the players didn't react on Saturday that tells us rather more about the character of the players than it does about Berg. Ability is more important than experience per se. As is sometimes being the right man in the right place at the right time. Look at Brian Clough at Leeds. If Berg's good enough, he's old/experienced enough. If he's not, he's not. any new manager even with experience is a gamble but the difference in Rovers case is we have to get up 1st time of asking...it is still very much do able IMO may even have to be vai the play offs but still do able.but need an improvement on last nights performance especially that 1st half as Rovers werent at the races at all against a poor Huddersfield side second half we were much better Berg encouraging the players on and offering advice on the touchline something which has been missing quite awhile that now but anyone who says we played well last night was watching with Rose tinted glasses - the fact is we haven't played well alll season but we remain in 6th so if we start playing well promotion is a very real prospect !

Black Burn Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 How do you know this? http://www.talksport.co.uk/radio/richard-keys-and-andy-gray/120823/singh-promotion-must-blackburn-year-179308 Reported all over the news since the beginning of the season. It's fat venkys love child I understand that you want me to stop posting here. I will as a matter of fact, stop posting here from henceforth if you feel that my posts are offensive or pro-Venkys. No point angering you any further because it seems that every single word that I type annoys you. I apologize for that and I will leave the BRFCS forum. Not going to cause further disharmony here by arguing over this or that.
Mercer Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Haven't seen any of last night's match but spoke with some who went including a couple of Hudders' fans. View from Rovers' friends was that we started to resemble a team after the rubbish of Kean's reign and did okay but still a long, long way to go. Hudders' fans thought we were average, though they hadn't seen us at our worst, and if Vaughan and Beckford had been playing, would have been a different story altogether. After just less than a week, Berg does seem to have had an impact which at least shows we might, at last, be moving in the right direction. I would expect to see 9 points from next 3 fixtures (Brum, home, Posh, away & Millwall, home). If Berg doesn't make an impact in those three games then it might prove to be a long and weary season.
chaddyrovers Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Is this guy for real? @Venkys_Advisors: Owners saw the game we let our self down and question needs to be asked by the players about letting 2 goals in and Berg is under pressure @Venkys_Advisors: I am blaming shebby for appointing a manager in Berg enough has been said. the guy is talking complete rubbish. Kamy and Andy Cryer both say he is a fake and venkys know nothing about the account
Blue n White Rover Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Not saying Berg is the same but Briann Kidd was very animated on the touchline................means nowt without results To be fair, Henley and Olsson were caught out of position a few times and weren't closing down quick enough. I noticed Berg chatting to both of them and as soon as they started closing down, Scannel (I think that's his name, Long haired winger) had to switch sides and his threat which was apparent in the first half hour was nullified. He switched wings but was still ineffective.
alexanders Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 I believe we will see youngsters coming through and having a good season under Berg.

By doing those kind of things, he will command the respect of the players!
bypass06 Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Frustration for Berg http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/10031007._/?
Blue n White Rover Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 And that is what a decent manager should do, react to situations and change things, kean could never do that! By doing those kind of things, he will command the respect of the players! Definitely. Kean stood clueless on the touchline and Berg looked the complete opposite. The early signs are promising, but fans should still remain caution because as I say, they look promising but we need to see more before we can judge.
Amo Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 It's just a nice change to have a manager I don't want to put through a woodchipper.
J*B Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 I'd rather draw with Berg than win with Kean. 2 big home games ahead.
RibbleValleyRover Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 He was animated on the touchline, in particular telling the players to push up when they were sitting too deep and therefore inviting pressure. He got them to do it quite a bit, but it's going to take time for them to learn as the players for the past two seasons had been told to sit back and stand off. It was telling that the moment the players pretty much ignored him barking on the touchline it lead to the equalizing goal, that and the midfield’s inability to keep the ball and run out the clock.
Blue n White Rover Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 He should have made a substitution in injury time. Bring Pedersen on just to kill a bit of time.
LeChuck Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 He was animated on the touchline, in particular telling the players to push up when they were sitting too deep and therefore inviting pressure. Eric Black mentioned the same problem as well. It's going to take a while to fix the issues that Kean has embedded into the squad. I'm not convinced Rosado was the right substitution yesterday, surely a more experienced head would have made more sense.
thenodrog Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 According to David Dunn, the squad did close to nothing in regard to fitness work in the summer - it was mentioned on the last podcast. If Kean didn't allocate fitness sessions its little wonder that some any players weren't fit enough. Added to the Kean 'do what you want' culture, it was a prime reason why a midtable Premiership side became a Championship team. No wonder 'pass and move' has become such a thing of the past. As I said elsewhere I went v Sheff Wed and Watford for the first time since an occasional match last season and the difference in passing and moving off the ball was stark. Might sound daft but the best way to describe it is that the entire team were playing off their heels rather than their toes. One thing in Bergs favour he will surely have spotted it as a failing and the solution is relatively easy to achieve.
OJRovers Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Didn't see the game yesterday, but Cryer says that in patches it was the best we've played this season. HOPEFULLY we are turning the corner. Sounds like the fans were brilliant last night, if that continues against Brum its got to help the players get their confidence back. I like how Berg is willing to try different players - in their right positions. eg Henley and Vukcevic. If he gets Murphy playing to his ability, that will be a massive boost.
The Rover of Finland Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Berg must handle last nights late disappoiment correctly. Is it just bad fitness why we keep conceding at late. Or do players panic?

Guess he want to keep the same shape and try to go for the 3rd goal but keep it tight at the back. He could have put Pedersen instead of Rosado, but it would have been more defensive and put us on the back foot. I'd rather draw with Berg than win with Kean. agree J*B.

Boot Murphy out ! a few new players in, come january, especially in the central midfield area, will help to change things for the better.

If you went last night you would of saw that murphy looked a lot better last night give him a few games to get his confidence and hunger back and he's gonna be decent this year. He is obviously a big part of bergs plans as he has made him captain. He'll pull the strings in the centre once berg gets the team playing to his strengths.

It takes the crowd to get a player to move more than a yard.

He did have more options to pass to though.
