[Archived] Henning Berg - Rovers Manager

Hendry should be nowhere near the current setup, the mans a scumbag, simple as that.

Agnew has withdrawn into the shadows, I hope he's been sussed as a fraud also.

The club would be a better place without those two degenerates.

I assume you didn't mention shaw as you're still hoping his industry contacts will mean that one day your shelf will return. :)

Black gave Rovers defensive stability in his short time in charge and it would be a mistake to release him IMO. Plenty of experience too that Berg might need to call on over the rest of the season.

Do we know that for sure? Was it Black or Hendry?

Chaddy - I think you might be missing the point. He might well HAVE to be happy with them for financial restrictions.

When he came in, there was a lot of speculation that he would be the proverbial new broom and we would see a new backroom staff.

Black might fit his bill as a number 2 but what value do either Brunskill or Hendry add ?

If Berg wanted rid of them he would.

Brunskill was a coach at rovers when Sam Allardyce was here and nothing on here was questioning him then so why now. Brunskill was a coach at Liverpool for 12 years working with the under 18's side before joining rovers in Summer 2008. so he has 16 years experience as a coach.

Dunno. I didn't see any of the games where Black was in charge - and let me tell you - listening to RoversPlayer is not the same! They were hard to listen to in the extreme! I got the impression though that the defence was repaired at the expense of neutering all attacking ambition. True?

Agnew should be first out the door, he brings absolutely nothing to the table.

Is it possible for us to now get behind the club rather than carry on with agendas against other personnel at the club? I'm getting a bit fed up of it. I want us to move forward instead of hearing who's next on the fans' hit list. I'm beginning to enjoy football again and then become demoralised when I see this sort of thing. Are we supposed to keep the club down for the sake of it because it's "personal" and we're used to it?

Kean has gone. Some of you need to get over the "well he was Kean's mate" nonsense and see how we can progress instead of continuing a negative aura around the club. Paranoia beyond belief and detrimental paranoia at that.

No paranoia from me.

They're not in their respective positions due to their talent IMO and as such I think Berg should bring in who he both rates and trusts.

I think you should remember the great Job Brunskill and Bowyer did with the reserves, taking them to the national finals having beaten Man U at Old Trafford in the Northern final, a disciplined and well organised side and beat a Man U side including Oberton, Fletcher, Di Silva, Macheda etc.

He obviously can organise a team and they did look very well set up for that game, unfortunately, Chelsea were too strong for us in the final!!

But that's all ifs and maybes. Might be better to concentrate on what we do know, which is that there seems to be a positive shift in the direction of the club. I for one welcome it.

I strongly disagree in terms of Black. I think he is a good assistant boss, our previous problems were mainly due to the pillock in charge.

Also, in terms of Hendry, people are kicking off at him being here off the back of his off the field problems - they have nothing to do with anyone other than those concerned.

The guy is an ex-Rover, a Championship winner, promotion winner and ex-Scotland captain. He was also a bloody good player. I can't help but think that it is the younger fans who don't actually remember the good that he did at the club that are whining on about his gambling debts etc. - the type that hang on twitter rumours and general keans. Give the guy the chance to fail rather than deny him an opportunity to prove himself.

We conceded the third least number of goals in the Championship and people are slagging off Hendry for being a poor defensive coach, or at least getting the position for reasons other than his ability. Eric Black lost only one game in his several matches in charge and won two, but he should go because of his remarks about Kean deserving a knightship last season. Berg's two assistants have been working in the Norwegian League and one of them has gotten his team relegated, that's probably why Berg isn't bringing in new people or people he has worked with before. They've already moved on or, y'know, made a mess of it.

personally, I don't care whether hendry is the best defensive coach in the world.

its clear that he's got zero integrity as a person and that's the worst kind of role model for our younger players coming through the club.

Im of the opinion, that the club has a duty to its fanbase and community to uphold strong values and promote a healthy culture.

funny how people deride kean for having no integrity, but are happy for hendry to be a scumbag off the pitch if there's the possibility that he'd be a good coach

its double standards and it stinks.

absolute nonsense pedro. he was handsomely well looked after during his playing days and jumped ship to get a better offer. So don't give me this rubbish about him bleeding blue and white.

im not whining about his debts, I just think its abhorrent what he's done and continues to do to people he called friends when it suited him. The worst kind of scumbag and role model

The current set up seems to be working in terms of Henning and his backroom, looking better and better each game. People slagging Black off for supporting Kean forget that Kean employed him, was seemingly unsackable and probably filled Black's mind with tales about how bad us fans were. Hardly surprising that when asked he supports the seemingly immovable object that was Kean.

As for Hendry, plenty of Rovers players in the past have had a few dark secrets which fans were aware of, but I'm all for people being judged by the law of the land rather than the internet messageboards and tabloid papers. Footballers leave a charmed life, you could say regimental almost like being in the forces in that they don't have to think what they need to do as their days are planned out for them by another. Not making excuse for anyone here, just trying to add a but of balance, not that I should be discussing it as the private life of the players/coaches is their business unless it impacts on their ability top do their job or brings the name of the club in to disrepute.

Henning Berg has been a breath of fresh air, maybe the coaches are being allowed to express themselves a bit more and we reaping the rewards. Just a thought.

does anyone else not think that as Berg arrived it was like someone stumbling upon an underfed, wrongly treated puppy that was close to death and it has been found (berg appointed) and slowly but surely the puppy is well fed and walked and starts to get back to full strength and will be a fully grown dog in the coming weeks right in time for our match v Burnley? Or have I really really read into Cantona comments too much?

His behaviour towards the club in engineering the move to Rangers in particular left a lot to be desired.

In fairness I welcomed his move rather than his motives. Hendry had been a superg Ch for us but he'd seriously lost his pace and imo was ready to be replaced when somehow we managed to persuade Rangers to part with over 4m for him.

If it really did come down to a choice between Berg and Holloway, maybe we had a lucky escape.

http://www.bbc.co.uk...otball/20392765

Some heavy criticism in there from Evatt. Berg's attitude to training was obvious from his first day when he insisted on having the press conference at 8:30am, and the fairly rapid transformation in playing style can only be down to hard work on the training field.

--------------------------

At the same time, Mick McCarthy adds to his signing of Bradley Orr by taking transfer-listed Tyrone Barnett from Peterborough:

Perhaps another bullet dodged. Berg's appointment is looking better by the day.

And spent it (and the rest) on Christian Dailly.

Oh, Woy...
