patrickvalery Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 The more pace we have in the side the better imo. His final ball or finish won't be up to much, but being quick can actually compensate for other short-comings. Good move on the surface of it.

Sparky Marky Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Are you not the guy who disparaged Hoilett and Phil Jones anyway? (If not, I sincerely apologise). Apology accepted. I used to be wax lyrical about junior when allardyce wouldn't pick him. He was amazing at times for the ressies...
Backroom Mike E Posted November 21, 2012 Backroom Posted November 21, 2012 Indeed. He was awesome for us and one of the few brights sparks in Hughes' dismal QPR campaign. Indeed. He was awesome for us and one of the few brights sparks in Hughes' dismal QPR campaign.
RevidgeBlue Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Don't know anything at all about King but I'd be a bit disappointed if his arrival meant Nunes didn't get a look in. I think he looks extremely promising.

I think he looks extremely promising. Agree with this. I like trying out our academy players first as well. For example, a few people (including me) wanted that left back Van Aarnholt on loan from Chelsea but it turned out we had Henley. I think he's on loan at the moment but I've heard good things about Osawe. PS - What a f#####g goal by Mexes tonight. http://www.101greatgoals.com/gvideos/unbelievable-philippe-mexes-out-of-this-world-overhead-kick-ac-milan-v-anderlecht/

Oconnell is it? Bowyer needs potting too. Total knob with no idea.

Salgado Is A Hero Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Friedel set to end Spurs battle with Lloris by making shock return to Blackburn http://www.dailymail...urn-return.html Would be unbelievable.
47er Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 If true, good old Henning! That will bring the fans back. never should have left us. Never forgiven Ince for that. And ecstatic to see him on the coaching staff. Exactly the sort of leader we need and players can look up to. Nelsen should be next. Surround the Club with people who care and we will go places!
Backroom Mike E Posted November 22, 2012 Backroom Posted November 22, 2012 Friedel set to end Spurs battle with Lloris by making shock return to Blackburn http://www.dailymail...urn-return.html I need fresh underwear....
bigbrandjohn Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Great news, doesnt mean the end for Robbo just competition plus a great coach and motivator.
Kelbo Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Has Friedel got his badges, yeah? I am sure he has, I think I read he has an academy in the States, maybe one of our American posters could inform us!!
bluebruce Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 I respect your opinion sally but I simply don't agree with your classification of Samba. At a push and all things considered IMO he was average +. Yes he had some great days and performances but he is nowhere near that second bracket of players, he is also not as good as King. He was fantastic at heading balls away from certain areas but positionally (when being moved about) he had big flaws. He excelled when we were camped in our own box because he had a good standing jump on him and this was often how we would defend - it suited him well. Astonishing. You make it sound like Samba was just a big lump who spent the game leaping up heading the ball away, and never had any other real use. I therefore have to question if you really paid any attention to his game. There are certain fans who never seem to watch defenders, and just generally don't get what defending is about. Having spent most of my time playing defence, I keep a sharp eye on them personally. Samba was excellent. He was strong, fast, courageous, great in the tackle, highly consistent, and quite cultured for a centre half. He could also score a fair few. Occasionally his position was suspect (I assume that's what you mean by 'positionally when being moved about'), but no more so than most centre halves. And this was more than compensated for overall by his other attributes and the fact he could dominate space. His main failing was that if he had to fully turn around and accelerate quickly, he could be a little slow to do so (bit understandable when you're six foot five). Once he got a head of steam on him though he was pretty quick. We sorely missed him and still do. To call him 'only average' makes me seriously question if you know anything about defending.
arbitro Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Friedel set to end Spurs battle with Lloris by making shock return to Blackburn http://www.dailymail...urn-return.html As much as we would like to believe this I honestly think it is a nonsense story from a nonsense rag.
CapeTownRover Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 bring Tugay in as assistant, and make Brad Player Coach, and shift Hendry out. Then we will be rocking lol
LeChuck Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Friedel set to end Spurs battle with Lloris by making shock return to Blackburn http://www.dailymail...urn-return.html That would be great! Move Robinson on, get Friedel in goals for the next 18 months training Jake Kean to be his successor.

davulsukur Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 I am sure he has, I think I read he has an academy in the States, maybe one of our American posters could inform us!! His academy ran into alot of financial problems and i think they closed it down and Friedel was declared bankrupt a couple of years ago. No idea if he has his coaching badges but i would imagine it would be something he would want to do.
Mercer Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Friedel ? Has to be a joke. The guy is 40+, past his best and would be a very expensive addition to an astronomical wage bill. We also happen to have Robbo and goalkeeper is not exactly where we need strengthening. IMO, this is absolute nonsense. Night as well give Bryan Douglas the opportunity to come back.
den Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 I can only imagine he'd be coming in on a dual role, as back up to Robinson - and maybe Berg's right hand man Mercerman.
jim mk2 Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Goalkeepers generally don't make great coaches or managers, in fact I cannot think of one who has been successful. For some to suggest that Friedel should replace Robinson as first-choice goalkeeper is ludicrous.
