I'm more inclined to have faith in the manager. Aren't you the guy in Braddock's signature?

Football is about opinions.

All managers, including SAF, make mistakes.

Any organisation that doesn't constructively challenge itself, or allow constructive challenge from its stakeholders, will go nowhere.

Presumably, you are an individual in life that accepts everything they are told !?!?

No, but I don't automatically jump to conclusions and pass them as fact. As I said, until any credible information comes out I'm more inclined to trust this manager. We have no idea what the relationship between Berg and Robinson is or the complexities of these guys' plans. It may well be the case that Berg misjudged the situation but simply making the presumption that this is the case seems a little reactionary. It's good that you see that football is about opinions (as so few know the facts) as it will maybe help you to loosen your grip on your own and not hold them up as some immovable truth. Maybe it's just your posting style and I'm misinterpreting you. If this is the case, apologies.

Plastics - I have advocated time and again on this MB that a MB is to facilitate opinions, speculation and gossip etc.

If you do read my posts, I do try to make clear that what I offer are opinions and fully respect the rights of others to do the same, irrespective of whether I may agree with them or not. It is a culture that has been part of my working life for years and years. Healthy debate should be commended, not stifled.

Fair enough but it was more the tact used that was the issue, rather than the content. It is wiser to speak with less authority when we don't know the facts. This does not stifle any speculation (as all scenarios are free to be discussed) but rather helps people to assimilate the information that gets posted on this messageboard. Too many people believe all they read, after all.

Anyway, good day to you.

Wonder who will keep goal tomorrow ?

According to Nicko in today's Mirror, Robbo had showdown talks with Berg yesterday once Rovers' interest in Friedel emerged.

In all walks of life, if an individual feels unwanted or threatened, he/she is turned-off for a little while until he/she can get their head around the issue - it takes time.

All this apparent aggravation is the last thing we need at this time with some key games coming up.

IMO, it was unnecessary and could have been avoided and represents Berg's 2nd dropped b o l l o c k following the young lad revealing the team fiasco.

Sorry I have missed something. What revelation about the team fiasco is this ?

Only one problem with that theory. Who in their right mind would give Robbo a better offer than the one he's on now ? For me he's been deeply un-impressive for at least the last twelve months.

Some Prem team whose GK has announced to his manager that his contract is up in an / Summer and that he is moving on perhaps? I sort of know where you are coming from but it's not rocket science is it Tyrone?

Someone on here was leaking the team after being able to see training. Berg was asked about it at a press conference and said it was disappointing.

It's harsh to blame Berg though as he was asked the question, I think it's picking holes at him when it's not needed personally

I was a huge Friedel fan when he was previously with Rovers.

However, I honestly feel that there is a lot of goey-eyed sentimentality on here where Friedel is concerned.

Friedel is a decent guy and speaks well, however, does that make him the leader some claim he would be ? Equally, what evidence is there that Friedel would make a successful football coach outside of his own specialist area of goalkeeping ?

IMO, I can see very little, if any, justification in bringing Friedel back to Ewood.

Alright so shoe on the other foot Mercerman and put yourself in the position of Berg..........

You need a few ins and outs in January and you are charged with making financial savings too. Money is tight and the cheque book has been put away so the only way to make room financially is to 'lose' big earners in line with your job desription .

Speculation but please go along with it for the time being. Robbo's agent contacts you to say he has had a better offer and wants to go back to the Prem (don't forget next contract deal both agent and player no matter how loyal will be busting their balls to leave BRFC and get a Prem league berth as they both face a massive drop in income if he isn't playing in the Prem).

You don't know many keepers in this country and clubs and agents provide a shark pit for a manager who is finding his feet in this country with the clock is ticking down to Jan 31.

You find out that one of the countries best GK's is coming on the market, a man whose 'getting on a bit' but whos ability and character you know well, as well as trust and respect, a man who has shared a successful promotion campaign in the past and knows what it takes and all at money you can afford. And a man who is still quite capable of playing every week for one of the Prem's richest glamour clubs but for a few internal politics.

Do you bust a gut to make Friedels signing happen albeit on a contract that reflects his position. OR. Do you search around for a keeper that is effectively a shot in the dark?

Rem it's down to you mercerman.

Don't be so mard! Robbo's a professional isn't he? If he does need to move on then sulking will not help his ambitions one bit will it?

btw.... I don't recall Friedels performances dropping when Spurs signed Lloret.... do you? If anything they improved.

Presumably, you are an individual in life that accepts everything they are told !?!?

You've just quoted as true an utterence by a flaky journo in a Red Top newspaper ffs!

I've not understood why Berg got any stick for this. Had the team not been leaked before Berg got in charge?

If anything it's stopped under his reign, so it's a positive thing.

I disagree. Robbo needed a kick up the backside for putting on all that extra weight when he's slow enough at getting down for ground shots anyway. If he'd stayed fit and won a few points for us this season you might have had a point.

Thenodrog - re your posts above. Usually, when a player is unhappy and wants to move on, there are lots of whispers and rumours circulating - it's almost inevitable given the agent's role in trying to find different opportunities.

I haven't read anything anywhere nor heard any gossip, speculation that Robbo wanted away. In fact, given his personal circumstances, I wouldn't think he'd want to move away from North Yorkshire where he lives.

I don'y know how much Friedel is on at Spurs but doubt it's less than £50k per week, so do you think he would be prepared to come here and drop say £1.3m between now and the end of the season ? So, I could only see further pressure on an, IMO, absurd Ewood wage bill.

Yep, I'll run with Nicko's story on this and Martin Blackburn is on similar lines - both still have very good contacts in and around Rovers, including players.

As I've stated earlier, IMO, this is an unnecessary rocking of an already unsteady boat.

This isn't trying to pick holes in everything Berg does, as Tom M suggested. Football managers are highly paid, visible figures and it comes with the territory that every move is scrutinised. In the main, Berg has made a sound start but, again IMO, too many false moves and he could well be in trouble.

Finally, if this is about saving money as you think might be possible, Berg needs to man up and dispose of at least one of Brunskill, Black and Hendry and tell Mrs D that she needs to get rid of one of Singh, Shaw or Agnew. That would be a start.

I challenge you to actually post something positive for a change mercer, and I'm not accepting 'Keans not here anymore'

Go on, positive don't forget ......

I think he's secretly loved the past two years. Like a pig in the proverbial.

Well for a start, have predicted a 2-1 win tomorrow on the match thread (money on both win and score) and also bought a handful of tickets for the Bolton match.

Is that okay for starters ?

In fairness Mercer predicted a comfy win last week and was more than happy with that

Only because it paid for his wife's Brazilian.
