Berg:

Good points:

- Bringing in Henley

- Moving Rochina into a central role

- Getting rid of Orr

- Getting Murphy playing ok (to an extent)

- At times we have passed the ball round well (Birmingham)

Bad points:

- Our defence is still all over the place

- We're playing with two central players on the wings (no width)

- Rhodes has been more isolated

- No change in backroom staff

- Still doesn't pick Vukcevic

- Has brought in another attacking midfielder on loan, rather than a target man or central midfielder

- Givet has been frozen out

A good summary of Berg's time in charge to date.

I liked Ooijer but he wasn't better than the pre injury Nelsen or Samba to name just two. You're right about his debut though, he was awful.

Nelsen up until that charlton game was truly amazing. Samba was quality but you don't captain Holland on occasion like ooijer if your not Good.

What wed do for someone like that now

Sorry EiT you are completely wrong there. Berg had a good game at right back and impressed me greatly whilst the 'mare' was had by the other debutant Patrick Anderson at centre half. Suffice to say he didn't have a bad career after that did he?

Sorry guys, I think you’re all wrong! Isn’t this is the game where Chris Waddle dismantled Alan Wright comprehensively? I also seem to recall that Alan later admitted that it is the only time in his career where he was completely outplayed.

The evidence isn’t conclusive but watch it again here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gh5DXwsJyaw

Hendry didn’t have a great time either by the looks of it!

Blackburn Rovers in the 6 games under Berg so far – Minutes per game per player (/ means player was not even on the bench)

Paul Robinson – 90+90+90+90+90+90 = 540

Adam Hanley – 90+90+90+90+90+90 = 540

Scott Dann – 90+90+90+90+90+90 = 540

Grant Hanley – 90+90+90+90+90+90 = 540

Martin Olsson - 90+90+90+90+90+90 = 540

Jordan Rhodes – 90+90+90+80+90+90 = 530

Dickson Etuhu – 90+90+90+90+90+62 = 512

Danny Murphy – 90+90+83+59+84+90 = 496

Mauro Fórmica – 32+81+90+90+72+90 = 455

Ruben Rochina – 38+77+60+90+90+69 = 424

Marcus Olsson – 71+90+70+80+54+0 = 365

Joshua King – /+/+/+/+36+72 = 108

MGP – 58+0+0+10+0+21 = 89

CKR – 52+/+/+0+/+18 = 70

Simon Vukcevic – 19+13+30+0+6+0 = 68

Jason Lowe – /+/+7+31+0+28 = 66

Nuno Gomes – /+/+0+10+18+/ =28

Fábio Nunes – /+/+/+21+/+/ = 21

Diogo Rosado – 0+9+/+/+/+/ = 9

So far, it is pretty clear he has 10 of the starting 11 chosen with the exception of Joshua King that has replaced Marcus Olsson in it.

I Understand that he wants the team to grow together but, after bad performances and with lack of fitness of several players, it is necessary to change the team more often.

I believe all the players that played less in his games are the ones that might leave in January. (except Dunn that has been injured)

The ones in bold I have issues with.

What long term certainties can you gather from the evidence of six games? We can only speculate at this stage.

Better evidence for our potential to gain promotion lies in the Championship league table. How many leaders of this league have there been already this season? Eight, nine, ten? I reckon Berg will get his time this season because a) it's so long, he has enough games to get it right and I can't honestly see any team or teams drawing away from the rest.

Look at CKR. I would give Berg some credit in dropping him and then, on Wednesday's showing, bringing him back a more focused player. There has got to be some good management in there somewhere. And Dann. He's far from a complete player, but he has played much better under Berg than he ever did under Kean (who bought him).

THe evidence: results and the "automatic" starting 11.

I know that Berg didn't chose the playing staff he has and I hope that in January he can get rid and buy/loan whoever he wants.

But he seems to trust heavily in this 11 players that are not fit and have not been playing well.

I hope he turns this around and winning agaisnt Burnley would be massive.

Either way, there are still a lot of games to play so let's all support the team.

The most worrying aspect by far to me is that the players haven't reacted in any noticeable way to Berg's appointment. Some of them have actually gotten worse. We can't expect miracles within a few games but there definitely should have been a change in attitude for most if not all of our first 11, and bar a few moments there simply hasn't been for the majority of them.

If Berg cannot have a serious reshuffle in January then we won't get anywhere near the playoffs, and as a result I think he'll be sacked come the end of the season. Can't say I'm optimistic at all right now, the players have a bad attitude and a fair amount of them average/poor ability in this division. So much needs to change on the playing side and I just don't see Venky's giving Berg the funds or freedom to do what is required.

Holland's biggest weakness at the time was their defense. If it had been on par with the rest of the team they would have been among the favourites to win the Euros or WC. Ooijer was a very good defender though.

I would play Gomes more, as well as CKR. Rhodes is our only certain starter at the moment, which is a big worry.

Agree but why do we think Berg is the right man to rebuild/change the squad?

Am I the only one who thought Ooijer was rubbish?

Started off poor but had a really good run after that when was solid played well - last few months of his time here, he was quite inconsistent, think injuries/age took their toll.

He was never my first choice, but now he's here we have no choice but to support him really. Whether he's the right man or not remains to be seen, but without the chance to seriously rebuild in January I don't think Berg has a chance of succeeding.

Of the regulars or the others?

in the most used starting 11,Rhodes, Henley, Martin Olsson have been ok. All others haven't been playing well and should be in the bench for a while to recover.

The others, since they hardly play, they are probably fit lol

What was it about Kazim's performance that made it impressive against Bolton?

Was it just that he was actually trying harder than the rest? His hold-up play? His wing play? All three?

Specifically, why did so many say he played so well?

He held the ball up pretty well, worked fairly hard (though that should be expected from fresh legs IMO) and won a few aerial battles and of course provided the assist. Which is more than can be said for the majority of the team.

We switched to 4-4-2 with ckr & Rhodes upfront & ckr did what you would hope of a strike partner for Jordan Rhodes. Also mgp finally put some crosses in so they both had something to feed off. & Etuhu was replaced by a young runner. All this together gave Rovers some impetus for the first time. With the lack of a spark in the first half, i thought bringing on a sub who is supposedly proper fruitloops actually made perfect sense.

If you want to win games in this division i truely believe you need to play 2 up front. At present though we havent got the players to do that. The return of Best come new year may make a massive difference to that.
