[Archived] PS3 - Games advice

Hi guys

I just managed to pick up a cheap 80GB PS3(fat one), and was wondering if you could give me advice on games to get. Besides Fifa and PES of course, i dont mind whether its 1st, 3rd person shooters, RPG etc.

As ive never played much PS3, i dont mind if its old games of years gone by, which i can maybe pick up for cheap to get into it.

For third-person shooters you can't go wrong with any of the Dead Space or the Uncharted games. Dead Space is geared more towards survival horror, though.

The Dead Space, Batman and Assassin's Creed games are not to be missed. The Uncharted games are hugely impressive and exciting but the combat blows for the most part. The two Killzone games on PS3 are really good FPS.

All that being said, God of War 3 is utterly essential.

can you still pick up God of War 1 and 2 though? As i said, i havent played much games, besides PES and Fifa. Im just happy to have a PS3 lol, as i just couldnt anymore with pc and having to upgrade all the time.

i enjoyed the Street Fighter stuff, is that available on PS3?

I was't keen on Dead Space myself, found it very repetitive. Uncharted had some good elements but I did struggle with how thick the Hollywood cheese was layered in the voice acting and story.

I'm not keen on games that rely heavily on gun combat. Personally I'd recommend Little Big Planet 1 & 2, LA Noire, Heavy Rain, Red Dead Redemption & Portal 2. Should be able to pick them all up dirt cheap now.

I agree with LeChuck and Rovermatt - Red Dead Redemption and both Batman games (Arkham Asylum and Arkham City) are well worth a look.

I will chuck Skyrim in there if you like those types of games and have a decent amount of spare time on your hands.

i just picked up Prototype off a buddy for 3 pounds lol. This game seems a bit super charged for me, almost like this guys is on steroids running up buildings etc. Is that normal lol

Another good game (but wait til it's cheaper) is Sleeping Dogs. Ofc, there's RDR mentioned above and there's GTA5 to look forward to next year
