Kamy100 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Two cracking test matches over the weekend. Fantastic performance by England to square the series 1-1 with India. Really happy for Monty in particular who has waited a long time for his chance. Also Australia v South Africa was a fabulous test match, what a debut innings by Du Plessis to save the match for South Africa. Great to the see the best form of the game alive and well.

dave birch Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Indeed, Kamy. Some really great cricket down under. Unfortunately for us, we don't have that "game breaker" that we used to have. Injuries on both sides have restricted the matches somewhat, but have been entertaining non the less. Great knock by Du Plessis, didn't look like getting out.
SouthAussieRover Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Ah I wondered if I was the only one who'd been watching. Thoroughly enjoyed day 3 in Adelaide ( apart from being sat out in the sun for 8 hours) Hopefully the building works will be complete this time next year.
Mattyblue Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Preparing a dustbowl backfired on Dhoni big time, Monty was turning it square! Think it's time for Tendulkar to bow out gracegully.
Kamy100 Posted November 26, 2012 Author Posted November 26, 2012 Preparing a dustbowl backfired on Dhoni big time, Monty was turning it square! Think it's time for Tendulkar to bow out gracegully. The bounce in the pitch suited our Spinners who bowl at a faster speed than the Indian spinners. Fully expect a slow, low turning wicket in Kolkata next week.
jim mk2 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Cracking performance by England after the disappointing batting in the first Test. Panesar has been a revelation, while Cook is on course to break all batting records as I predicted. Looking forward to the decider.
only2garners Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Looking forward to the decider. There are two more Jim.
jim mk2 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 There are two more Jim. Well spotted. Looking forward to a 3-1 England win !
dave birch Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Michael Clark's year to date has been outstanding. His average has been 119+, a triple ton and four doubles. No wonder he has climbed to the top of the batting ranks. About 15 months or so ago I met his grandfather. He was showing everyone his christmas present from MC; he gave him his "Alan Border medal" for the best cricketer in Aus, his grandad was stoked. Hopefully the injuries to both sides will be resolved and we can get back to full blown test cricket.
SouthAussieRover Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Australia currently being reminded that they aren't as good as the media (especially channel 9s lineup of ex players) think they are
dave birch Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Not wrong SAR. The Saffer bowlers are doing themselves proud, and their front end have stood up, in the second innings, but there's a long way to go. I'm just glad that a pitch has been produced to give the bowlers a go for once. Some of the lower order bats show that it's not a minefield.
SouthAussieRover Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Australia need 632 to win. They have 2 days and an hour to get the runs.
SouthAussieRover Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Cook batting well again. Got to wonder what his record will read like one day.
Kamy100 Posted December 6, 2012 Author Posted December 6, 2012 Cracking performance from England, hopefully we can build on it tomorrow. Cook with another fab innings.
SouthAussieRover Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Poor sportsmanship by India re Cooks dismissal.
only2garners Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Poor sportsmanship by India re Cooks dismissal. I haven't seen the run out yet, but I heard it on Test Match Special and the consensus seems to be that the umpire got the decision spot on. The key was that Cook had never got in behind the crease. Had he been in and then moved out of the way to avoid the ball he would have been not out.
Blue n White Rover Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Poor sportsmanship by India re Cooks dismissal. Not at all. Cook did not have his bat grounded and Kohli had every right to aim at the stumps. Had Cook grounded his bat, then moved aside, he would have been given not out. However, his bat did not touch the ground at any point during the incident, therefore how you can put that down to poor sportsmanship, is beyond me.
SouthAussieRover Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Maybe a bit harsh of me to say poor sportsmanship though I was watching it the hear of the moment so to speak. So BWR with time to reflect it was more of an unfortunate dismissal. Next time he should resist the reflex action of getting his head out of the way.
jim mk2 Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Cook will be disappointed to miss the 200 but it was another monumental innings by the very nice chap from Essex. England in a strong position - can Burnley's finest bowl us to an innings victory ?
SouthAussieRover Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 You UK guys will be waking up to a pretty good scorecard.
jim mk2 Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 India six down as I write with 6 wickets falling for 36 runs after lunch. Tendulkar failed again and must be near the end of his career.
SouthAussieRover Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 India six down as I write with 6 wickets falling for 36 runs after lunch. Tendulkar failed again and must be near the end of his career. Jim must be cleaning his dentures after breakfast. India 8 for 178....35 runs behind with 2 wickets left.
Kamy100 Posted December 8, 2012 Author Posted December 8, 2012 Fantastic stuff from the team. Just need to try and wrap this up this morning if possible.
SouthAussieRover Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 One wicket to go. Will be the first time since 1976 that India have lost back to back Tests in India.
