SouthAussieRover Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Yeah so the English curators never, ever rolled out greentops to favour the home seamers? The ACB never prepared pitches 'for Warne'. They didn't have to because he could turn a ball on glass. Nor would they wanted to, when you had a new ball attack of McGrath and Gillespie. Warne didn't have the best of records in India. Suprising really.
jim mk2 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Congrats to England for a fantastic rearguard action to save the series in NZ. Prior played the longest Test innings of his life while Broad broke the Test record (103mins) for being at the crease without scoring. Stayed up till 5am watching - great advert for Test cricket and proof games do not have to high-scoring to be exciting and gripping.

SouthAussieRover Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Dropped catches and DRS help too. Great advert for Test cricket though. Loved it. Well done Prior, Bell and Broad...and especially Monty for surviving 5 balls.

Congrats to you Jim, I gave up when when Bell was out the last ball before tea, Magnificent performance from Prior and Broad.
forumquizmaster Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 At around 4.30 am I recalled the wise Sir Geoffrey Boycott's advice to always mentally add on two wickets to the number you had actually lost, to avoid complacency and keep the mind focussed. At 300 for 7 with less than 4 overs to go, it would have been easy to think England were home and dry. I can't think of any other sport where the worst exponent of a particular skill within the game has to go out and try to save or win a game, in the way that the tail end does in cricket. Great stuff! Well done to Bell, Broad, Monty and especially Prior.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Got up this morning expecting a loss. Well done all concerned who manage to bat out the day to earn a very good draw. The Kiwi's have put a decent team together, maybe we took them too lightly.
