[Archived] BBC Radio Lancashire Q & A with Shebby Singh

We have a striker that is screaming out for quality balls into the box who VENKYS spent 8 million on but yet Shebby thinks it's ok to be playing players on the wing to cut inside, I wonder why we dont score many goals? So maybe Berg discusses this with Shebby and Shebby believes it's ok because Formica can play there he is in effect picking the team.

One thing I learnt whilst listening to that is while Shebby or the owners have anything to do with this club we will not prosper, the question about signing expensive players and a cheap manager was'nt put very well but it was right and warranted an explanation to which we never got. If Shebby's english was better he could have been a politician.

Almost a complete waste of 90 minutes. And where did they dredge that audience up from?

With about 20 minutes to go, Andy Bayes asked whether anyone else from the floor had another question and then he said that they were all looking around at each other in silence. WTF!!! There's a zillion questions that need asking of Shebby and the owners and nobody could be bothered.

Instead, we largely had questions that were going over old ground and ones that had already been answered! Ridiculous.

Andy Bayes has to carry some of the blame. He's a fan like the rest of us and he knows the pertinent issues that are at the heart of our demise and the fans' concerns. He should have guided the questioning or asked a few stingers himself.

Shebby will be pretty pleased with his performance tonight.

And as for the bloke at the end that was blethering on about Shebby not talking to his group....how about asking whether two of our better players (Givet and Simon) will ever start a game and be given the chance to help us get out of the kean we're in?

What is amazing - people complaining about the questions asked - but it wouldn't matter what was asked, most on here wouldn't believe him anyway.

In some ways I feel sorry for him - he does put himself out there to be shot at - he probably lets more information out than he should do - and still the club gets shot at for not speaking to the fans.

One thing is obvious - actions speak louder than words - some things Shebby has delivered on - some not. At the moment I think he is being judged because Berg hasn't been a success (so far) - anyone remember that JW appointed Ince - everyone makes mistakes - and at the moment it is too early to say for definite that Berg was a mistake.

Did you not notice that the first Q about the owners which wasn't received well was swiftly followed by an ad break. Can't help but think something was said to the audience.

I can guarantee there were no restrictions on the questions. What you heard is what was said. The only thing asked of the audience was to remember this is the BBC and act accordingly.

Yeah, they always seem to usher in the slack-jawed yokels for these events. It's like when Sky interviewed fans outside Ewood saying what a bang-up job Kean was doing. Unfortunately the Dingle excuse goes only so far and a lot of our fans are on another planet.

Now, to be fair, some fans made pertinent points and pushed the issue, until Shebby tried to obfuscate matters or side-step it with a sh*t pun. I felt Paul lost his way, though, in regards to Mrs. Desai releasing an official statement of Venky's intention. Haven't we had enough platitudes from the owners in the past two years to know they speak out of their backside? Venky's aren't actually interested in running a successful football club. As long as they're getting the brand exposure one way or another, it's all good. The time for half measures and talk is over.

people moan when there is no communication fom the club last season.

Shebby has communicate to fans since he came in as Glodal advisor at Rovers.

so what do people/fans want from the rovers and Shebby???

Chaddy, have you actually listened to what he has said tonight?

We want owners who are not here to promote their own business and a mouth piece for the club that is not clinically insane.

glad I didn't listen to it all just for 30 mins on the way home...fans of other local clubs tuned must of thought it was a comedy 90 mins ....the clown is an utter fool and IMO Berg is an even bigger one for working under that idiot..no wonder we are a mid table falling side...

THE CLUB IS SCREWED UNTIL THESE CLOWNS DEPART

Someone who

A) speaks sense

B) is even slightly trustworthy

C) wears better glasses

If they had any sense the obvious thing to do would have been appoint an ex-player who the fans still like, and someone with our best interests at heart i.e someone in the Salgado mould

Honesty?

And how do you know that his responses weren't honest ?

Somebody in the audience summed it up for me - when they said that the fans didn't trust the owners or Shebby. For some this is the root of the problem - all because you don't trust him doesn't necessarily mean he is lying.

When we had John Williams we had someone who talked to fans and understood their concerns and related to them, now we have Shebby who babbles and talks a load of nonsense

Both may be forms of communication but there is a vast amount of difference

'Comminication' isn't just an easy tick in a box

A lot of truth in this. I was in the audience and I've read several comments on here which completely misinterpret Shebby's answer.

For example he did not compare us with Utd. He made the point Utd's success was built around Giggs, Scholes etc. A core of players around which the rest of the side was built.

Shebby was using this example to illustrate that we need to do the same, build the team around a core of players.

Appoint an ex-player who the fans like with the best interests of the club at heart - is that not Berg ? Another example of how they just can't win.

Another is the complaints that Shebby was saying that the three young centre backs we have out on loan could provide cover - not so long ago those same people were complaining that the Portuguese influx was stopping youngsters getting into the first team squad.
