Anyone suggesting that this postponement is some sort of devious, conspiritorial plan is questioning either the integrity or the ability of Steve Patrick.Go and have that discussion with Steve face-to-face, and then come back and post your theories. If you can still speak / type / walk.

Kelbo - your suggestion that Steve would do "what he is told" rather than prepare the Ewood pitch for a game to the best of his ability is an outrage.

Don't talk rubbish. If his employers suggest they have a few injuries etc and it would be an advantage not to play then its not a case if integrity....this is business my dear...better play them with Best and Gomes fit.....and perhaps Hughes as gaffer.

We've been in far worse situations (injury wise) than this in the 2/3 decades that Steve Patrick has been preparing the pitch. If you are suggesting that he's suddenly been bought off by Shebby and Venkys to do his job badly then go and tell him to his face.

The Ewood pitch was not fit for a game - end of story. I drove from Darwen to Blackburn this morning and in the last 10 years I have never seen so much surface water on the roads, so much water running over full / blocked drains, and the rain just didn't stop.

Stop it do you not know we on this board are not interested in facts, just rumours and innuendos to create a new soap opera style shennigans.

Maybe the moon is made of green cheese in your world Pafell !!!

It's simple, if you want a game of football played, you pull out all the stops. Accie had the same rainfall - is their pitch better than ours ? is their groundsman better than ours ? do they have more groundstaff and better equipment than us ?

Cryer thought :

Andrew Cryer@CryerRovers

Doesnt look as though that predicted deluge has quite come does it. I reckon it could have gone ahead

Don't you think it's strange that little Accie get a game on and we can't and are the only PL/Championship game off.

IMO, we are possibly looking at either incompetence or p1ss poor planning/management which is no surprise in my book where Rovers are concerned.

Given the almost certain shocking attendance and the turmoil of recent days at Ewood, I don't think there would be too many tears shed about a postponement. Having said that, lose the next 2 games, both away, and we might struggle to recover.............................especially if Kelbo's friend is correct and we get points deducted.

.

You chose to resort to snide remarks. But I also notice you do so when you are losing the debate.

So please tell us all why Rovers wanted this match called off. They have to play it one day.

But there is no reason to deliberately get the game postponed.

There's a couple of glaringly obvious reason why playing this game later in the season could benefit Rovers.

Try thinking about it.

And no, I'm not saying I think the pitch was deliberately sabotaged.

Used to have a good surface at Ewood. Mind you, used to have a good football club. Funny how the two run together. Probably the best thing the club have done since chase the Evil One out of the club. Who wanted to watch a p...s poor football team lose to Brighton in inclement weather when you could watch a brilliant game of cricket or go shopping with the missus, if so inclined/obligated. Personally, I have no idea of the weather up there but suspect foulplay (no pun intended). Better be answers (holding breath)

The problem , confirmed to me by club staff, , was that Berg insisted against advice on a training session at Ewood on Friday

This compressed the surface rendering the usual vertidraining routine less effective than usual

There were comments made this morning that in years past messrs Williams, Finn, PItcher would have been at the ground at 8-30-am but that some shop-floor workers would barely recognise Agnew, Shaw, Singh etc if they hadn't seen them on TV!

Stanley have spent £120,000 in the last 18 months on a previously problematical surface

Rovers spend on pitch maintenance has declined exponentially since Venkys ascension

Sadly meadows, this has been the way ever since Venky's arrived. Nobody seems to listen to the people who know what they are talking about with the result that we seem to blunder from one mess to another. Stanley's pitch was in superb condition which, if you remember what it was like a couple of years ago, shows just how much money they have invested in improving it.

Well I drove home through Blackburn past a notorious flood point under the railway bridge near Daisyfield and there wasn't even a puddle!

It must have been that massive cloud that's been hanging over Ewood Park for the last TWO YEARS!

Kelbo - your suggestion that Steve would do "what he is told" rather than prepare the Ewood pitch for a game to the best of his ability is an outrage.

His job is to do exactly what the manager asks him to, to the best of his ability. I don't really expect that this was done on purpose but there's nothing outrageous about Kelbo's comment.

IMO, all the speculation about yesterday's postponed match boils down to basic facts, after two years of shenanigans, there is simply no credibility or trust left in our football club.

Very sad times.

In the past when games have been called off due to a waterlogged pitch then it has been as a result of the river being full. Therefore the drainage does not work. Therefore comparisons to any other ground are pretty invalid.

It's not being raining for 3 days solid, It has been raining since bloody June

It seems to have rained every other day since some Minister started talking about a hose pipe ban !

Ask Steve himself, Kenny himself always told Steve what he wanted and it was done, Steves a top groundsman but he works for the club and follows tha managers instructions, just as in cricket where the groundsman prepapres a wicket to suit his team, likewise a groundsman in football would do the same on his managers instructions, Steve of course as always would prepare the ground to the best of his ability but would follow the criteria laid down by the manager!

I heard the game was off at 2pm , it rained buckets but my first thought was .........The attendance will not be known now !

Cos , I doubt there would be more than 9000 on !

This thread does nothing but to serve to remind me why I stopped frequenting this message board so often. Its as farcical as the club itself.

It rained....lots, waterlogged pitch, game off. SImple as that.

Agree 100%. Had the game gone ahead there probably would have been less replies in this thread. Not only is the club a joke, the fans are a complete joke as well. We've had the usual suspects on here for a while now but its getting worse and worse on a daily basis.

Not at all, I used to work in Accrington and I live in Blackburn. The last time we had heavy snowfall which led to traffic coming to a standstill there was no snow and even a spot of sunshine in Accrington (when I eventually managed to make it out of Blackburn).
