thenodrog Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 No basis I just feel he may give him the rope to either climb back into contention or hand himself with You suggesting he's a tosser too are you Tom?

broadsword Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 He can go and fist himself for all I care. Total waste of space, yet more money down the drain.
Backroom DE. Posted January 23, 2013 Backroom Posted January 23, 2013 I think Appleton may start Goodwillie at weekend to give him the chance to prove he deserves a place in the squad He should be sacked on the spot if he even contemplates starting Goodwillie in the next match.
Barnesy Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Much improved though a long way to go. Needdless challenge in the 97th-game would have finished in the 95th had the ball not been kept in the BBE. with the ref clearly holding his arm up and demonstratively pointing to his watch. Own goal all round.
Hasta Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Anyone see the ball boy at the Blackburn End that would hold onto the ball to waste a bit of time and then when a Brighton player came to get it off him would roll it past him straight to our keeper. Anyone see the lad in the Blackburn End who instead of returning the ball thought it would be funnier to throw it further up into the crowd to waste a bit of time. The ref saw them alright and added time on accordingly. Well done guys.

Al Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 On reason I have watched us for that long is because I am still youthful matey!! Not sucking on Werthers Original and sipping tea from a flask with a blanket over my lap. Amazing how obnoxious youthful yobs have no respect for what they are inevitably going to become, unless somebody does the world a favour and kills them first.
Backroom Tom Posted January 23, 2013 Backroom Posted January 23, 2013 Hope that's not a reference to all us 'young uns' Al

Athlete Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 2 mid table sides who lacked up front but Big improvement on the Charlton game
gumboots Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 For the first time in ages last night I really cared. I found those edge of the seat moments and was living the players efforts. Something had definitely changed and I couldn't put my finger on what or why but it felt like the players had remembered what the club was actually about instead of what it has been like in the last few years. We've had too many false dawns to get carried away but despite goodwiilies moment of madness I enjoyed last night.
Waggy76 Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 On what basis? Cos imo hne doesn't. His contract would be in my OUT tray..... along with about 8 others. Got to agree with the above post ! Maybe 12 instead of 8 !

Backroom Mike E Posted January 23, 2013 Backroom Posted January 23, 2013 We can at least say Appleton (perhaps more Bowyer) has helping to bring that feeling back of caring. That in itself is an achievement.

gumboots Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Hence why I said I'm not getting carried away. I'll still be expecting us to lose next match whilst hoping we win. It was still good last night to feel that everyone was putting effort in._
Backroom DE. Posted January 24, 2013 Backroom Posted January 24, 2013 Enjoy it whilst you can. We all know Venky's are only one stupid decision/comment away from plunging the atmosphere right back into the gutter.
Hasta Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I may be missing something but all I saw was a lot more effort and still a distinct lack of quality. I enjoyed that game about as much as I enjoyed the Birmingham game. I didn't see a side that could put a decent run together to get anywhere near the play offs and I don't know much of Appleton other than his stats which will convince me he can turn it around. Tuesday night was just more of the same in my eyes.

Tuesday night was just more of the same in my eyes. That's still a positive in my eyes. We generally lack quality anyway. I'd rather we do the basics and put a ton of effort in, than be laa-di-daa with no effort. The difference in performance between Charlton and Brighton (3 days) was a massive turnaround. Despite that: I agree, Tom M, best to remain cautious tbh.
beatrix Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 The equaliser has to go down as a bad mistake by appleton, when you are 1 - 0 up with 5 mins plus stoppage to go you do not put on an iffy centre forward. I would have thought an additional midfielder to fill the middle would have been a better option, maybe Dunn ! That substitution cost us 2 points. The general performance and effort put in by the players was an awful lot better though.
