G Somerset Rover Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I admire the glint of optimism on here. 'Well we've gotta win soon'. Trouble is we've been saying it for twelve games now and still no change. As USA said, even teams out of form and in a rut still beat us. I mentioned it the other day but look at Leicester as a case study. They've won one game in the last ten or so, that match - against us. There's nothing about this group of freeloaders that suggests they're suddenly going to put together 3 points. Nothing. Sorry to be the realist here, but Derby will be licking their lips for Saturday. An early goal will kill us, as has been the case all season. Get those league one maps out boys and girls.

Our league position doesn't come down to luck. For me it's down to the simple fact that we can't keep possession of the ball for long enough. The back four hoof it because they don't have the quality to keep hold of it under pressure, nor do they have the midfielders around them capable of keeping the ball under pressure. Then, when they do get the ball up front, it doesn't stick there either. Bottom line is that giving the opponents so much ball means they score goals, more or less at will. Until that problem is addressed, our lack of creativity comes second.
Rover_Shaun Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Looks like Bowyer is fitting in well at Ewood. Blame refs, blame luck, blame everything but the fact the team is crap
sharpysharps Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Looks like Bowyer is fitting in well at Ewood. Blame refs, blame luck, blame everything but the fact the team is crap Bit harsh, what else can he do? He's been thrown in at the deep end for the 2nd time this season and generally when nit comes down to this part of the season desperation kicks in. A lot of these players will already be thinking about a move away in the summer regardless of whether we stay up or go down, especially as most of them are on loan anyway!
Amo Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Looks like Bowyer is fitting in well at Ewood. Blame refs, blame luck, blame everything but the fact the team is crap That'd do wonders for morale.
Majiball Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 That'd do wonders for morale. The whole lets protect the players has been done to death at Rovers. I'd be taking the brutal truth option for this one. And praying.
NH1875 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 The whole lets protect the players has been done to death at Rovers. I'd be taking the brutal truth option for this one. And praying. I agree, I'd be asking most of the squad individually: "Why is it that you have gone from playing in the Premier League or International football to the verge of the English division 3 in the space of 12 months? Have you really deteriorated that much as a player in this time, or are you struggling to motivate yourself? Have you no professional pride or dignity?" With all those £££s pouring into their accounts I'd be surprised if half of these 'professionals' have even taken a moment to reflect on their own apathy to the cause in the last year. Regardless of who the manager is, some of these players have played football at the very highest level. The likes of Pedersen, Kazim-Richards (has played in international tournaments for Turkey), Murphy, and the rest who have premier league experience should be capable of a certain level of professionalism, effort and aptitude regardless of who is coaching them, it should be second nature. So much so that even with the chaos going on off the pitch they should still be able to put in decent performances against teams at the bottom of the 2nd division.
OJRovers Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 “But I think you can take a lot of positives out of the way we ran around, we closed down and we played." I'd expect that as a minium from the highest paid team in the league.
rovers_rob Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 The whole lets protect the players has been done to death at Rovers. I'd be taking the brutal truth option for this one. And praying. I agree that the players have been protected to much but I don't think Bowyer is in a position to give the players a roasting. The players aren't going to respond to an interim manager roasting them especially the loan players. I think the only way we can get out of this mess is to appoint a permanent manager now. Either get someone in or appoint Bowyer and make it crystal clear that the manager will get time (whether we stay up or go down) and has full control of who stays and who goes. I think then the players would be focused on impressing the new boss and we might have a chance of staying up. As it stands I don't think we have a chance.
rovers11 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Bowyer being summoned to India at this stage in the season is exactly why we're going down this season and will be on the constant decline until they leave. Disgraceful.
USABlue Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Bowyer being summoned to India at this stage in the season is exactly why we're going down this season and will be on the constant decline until they leave. Disgraceful. What! Doesn't he have a relegation threatened team to prepare for Saturday?
