[Archived] Berg sacked

Andy Cryer has said on his twitter account that the dismissal of Black, Brunskill and Mimms was handled particularly badly, and the story will be in today's LT.

Anyone found this story yet? Can't see it on the website.

Bryan I think Andy means tommorrows LT , IMO Andy is saddened by the whole episode and goings on at Rovers

You're like a sheep, following Gordon around the website Jim, he does have you in his pocket these days, so safety in numbers I guess.

As you and Gordon know full well, I considered not getting a season ticket under Allardyce, but I did get one, but don't let that stop you re-writing history...

Now c'mon Gav, stored memories are difficult to erase no matter how much you may wish to. You and according to you just about everybody else in your section on the Blackburn End were packing in if my memory serves me correctly. ^_^

Oh btw do you still think Allardyce is the footballing equivalent of the Devil re-incarnate or has your opinion changed with our recent ghastly experiences? Just think we'd be in our 4th season in the Championship (or worse) if Allardyce hadn't answered the call when he did.

Very dignified for a man that wasn't given much of a chance.

I'm still on the fence regarding the decision. If we get someone experienced in, then a good call. If not, we will be heading for something nothing short of a disaster.

I agree ABBEY....Venkys have to man up and appoint a proper manager and keep their nose out of the football side of the business. Because to be fair they are a joke and to say Shebby is an ex-international footballer......he is also clueless!

Hire a Manager not a potential Manager.........EASY!!!

Shebby played for a team which is on a par with Darwen, dont get confused, in Malaysia, the best players attend the local convent!!

Remember, there is a Pakistani International [playing for Nelson in the second tier of the NWCFL!

You get my point though?? Shebby was a pundit on one of the worlds biggest football programmes!

Yet he thinks Gerrard should play RB and that Giggs should play centre half!

These two feckers Cundy and Goldstein (whoever they are) pontificating about how Kean was doing a good job with us in 2nd position when he was forced out and what a clown Singh is etc etc then move straight on to discussing choices of manager for Forest. Roy Keane, Terry Connor, Mark Hughes, Alex McLeish all mentioned so the big question I have is how come they never mentioned Steve Keans name as a possibility? Amazing given the fawning comments from the press and media about Steve Kean that no other club is ever linked with him isn't it?

You could maybe argue that Berg was hypocritical to take the job after his comments about Venky's earlier this year. Those comments have come home to haunt him, but he should also have got rid of all the Kean coaching crew as soon as he arrived. ThIs would have given him authority from the word go, and they must take a good share of the blame for the relegation fiasco and our poor performances this season.

I am not sure of his salary Andy but Rovers will have to pay off the remaining value of what is a fixed term contract. Therefore a lot of £££££

Bets it's decent working for just under 2 months but getting paid for 3 years or however long his contract was

that's ridiculous !

57 days, 1 win and 3 years pay. I am going down to Ewood for an application form !

The person who appointed him should be sacked for that mistake. No question.

If you made a mistake at work which cost that much, surely you would expect that.

Do we? Wouldn't anybody with any sense put in a rider in order to avoid paying compensation? 'If we only win once in ten' or 'if we fall below half way in the division we reserve the right to terminate your contract' perhaps being silly examples but applicable to the discussion. I'm sure most out of work managers would still have jumped at the job.

I must say the timing is horrendous for Berg. I'm sure that he has too much decency and would never do such a thing but for certain individuals to be sacked just days before a transfer window opens and offers the chance to set up carve up deals to milk the club for the next 3 years and set themselves up in luxury for life must be hard to take.

Was it ever stated how long Berg's appointment was for when he was appointed?

Normally we'd have to pay off the full value of his contract but if HB was that desperate to get back into work then maybe were able to insert a clause in his contract whereby there was a short probationary period within which we could part Company relatively cheaply.
