Sounds very likely to me Stuart. Either way Givet is under contract to play. Even from his own agent's mouth he is citing "family reasons" for wanting to leave.

Didn't exactly pull his tripe out at Blackpool did he?

Sorry, I forgot that he only played that one game.

Ah, the old family reasons chestnut? Wonder if he'll sign an NDA?

No doubt somebody is sniffing around him cos we must all know that thats the way these things usually work. Personally I don't blame him because he should be playing in the Prem or equivalent and to stay in the Championship out of the limelight and flogging a dead horse will seriously reduce his earning capacity. Same goes for Robinson too imo.... He too needs to stay on the Prem scene before he's written off.

Same family reasons that allowed Bert to leave, coincidentally at the same time that all the other PL wage earners left, Simon?

Odd now as well that the three high earners left at the club - Robbo, Givet and now Dunn are mysteriously missing from the squad. BTW, when Radio Lancs interviewed the bespectacled one this week and was told that Dunn wasn't fit, someone who Radio Lancs wouldn't name texted in to say it wasn't true. Couldn't have been Dunny himself could it?

Less conspiracy theory based, but in my opinion Robinson and Dunn haven't been up to it in the past couple of years and are no loss to the squad. Plus Givet has shown himself to be a stereotypical sulky French man.

Well if Emerton didn't want to leave for "family reasons" how come he ended up back at home in semi retirement in Australia?

Of the other high earners, Nelsen, struggling with QPR. Roberts, struggling with Reading, Diouf struggling with Leeds etc.etc.

This season Robinson hasn't kept himself in the best possible shape which is unforgiveable and his performances appear to have sufdered accordingly. Givet is either refusing to play or more than one manager deem him not to be in the right state of mind to play and MGP hasn't impressed when called upon. Ill concede Dunn hasnt had much of a chance.

I wonder if the management appointment has been put off until February so that the new man doesn't have the stigma of having sold our best players in the transfer window.

Just a thought.

no evidence of this happening this season. Tho I would sell 3 or 4 players of the current squad and replace them. Players I would sell are Robinson, Givet and Formica.

To be fair to MG on this one, Givet is renowned as being a head case. It wouldn't surprise me if he said he wouldn't play for us.

He is. not been the same player now as he was 2 years ago. Sell him and bring in someone like Lewis Dunk or give Ryan Edwards a chance who has done very well on loan at Rochdale.

Our youngest recently piped up with, 'Do you think any of the Rovers players are vegetarians?' (Probably full of school-influenced political correctness).

We reckoned none of them were, but that Givet might be.

Bit random, but I would 'luv-it' if that was the real reason. Givet blackballed for preferring cream cheese sandwiches over the mini pork pies.

'Right, Je suis off,' (in French accent).

Good luck to the bloke. Another of Big Sam's underestimated army.

being french and vegetarian don't go together,

he is probably just french!

which means he has a 50/50 chance of being a descendant of Louis the 14th or just plain inbred

Well Roberts and Salgado disappeared last season. Both stressed they did want to leave and was kept well in the dark so who knows what's happening with Givet.

well at least we have a proper structure in place. lots of clubs envy our appointment of a communications director. we are kept informed, consulted and always aware of the big picture. despite rumours abounding over many issues ,we are constantly reassured and kept informed about all that is happening behind the scenes. wonderful. just imagine if we didn't have a communications director. we'd be in the dark about everything, not knowing what to think, who was in charge etc. etc.. wow ,are we lucky. pa

I thought it had come to light that players like Roberts and Salgado had some insane clause in their contracts guaranteeing them another deal if they completed a fairly nominal number (say 10) of games. If thats the way we used to do things its almost a wonder were still in business.

It might be an acceptable way to attract and retain players when theyre at or near their prime. Its a recipe for disaster when theyre well into their 30's and some way past their best.

Weren't these clauses allegedly inserted after the Venky's took over, when Anderson was involved?

Well I will. That collection of much-criticised veterans were the precise difference between the fighting spirit we showed against the threat of relegation in 10/11 and our meek surrender to it in 11/12. Leadership, experience, coolness under pressure and the ability to raise their game when it mattered was exhibited by pretty much all of them. Why on earth Venkys spent the next season getting rid/letting leave most of them is beyond me, but it was obviously a very stupid policy that resulted in relegation. Made all the more ridiculous by the way their wages were then spent on another set of veterans who've done the job less than half as well.

Well QPR fans apparently sing to Nelsen, "he plays on his own", my QPR mate rates him, and I believe he got MOTM in their game against Chelsea the other day, and I doubt that would be the first time.

Roberts isn't a premier league player but is fine in our league......but I don't think Diouf is struggling with Leeds....he was only their short-term but they extended his deal I believe.

Nelsen is the leader we've been crying out for, Roberts would be perfect for Rhodes and can even score in this league, and Diouf plays with much-needed passion and is a better option on the wing imo than Formica, Lowe and Marcus Olsson.

Have never really rated Robinson although he was ok in that season a couple of years ago, but even then he still had flaws to his game.

Givet is our best player, let alone defender.....I'd be willing to give him a bit more money, regardless of his actions.......he's French, we know what they're like.

Pedersen won us the game against Leicester, apparently played well in some games eg Leeds and the other day....and we don't wanna just get rid of all our experience......so if we're losing Robinson and Givet, I'd keep him.....and I'm far from his biggest fan (these days).

Dunn is a very good player, I'd keep him for his experience, leadership and the fact he isn't injured 100% of the time.....just 90%.

Also Roberts scored some pretty important goals the 1st time Kean tried to relegate us if I recall correctly.......and Nelsen would have undoubtedly inspired our team then, were it not for how good Phil Jones and Samba were.
