In the Sunday People, its says that Sven wage demands are too costly for Rovers. Article is written by Steve Bates

SGE, has held talks with Blackburn over becoming their next manager.

but his wage demands are thought to be too steep for rovers, even though global advisor Shebby Singh has prromised fans an experienced replacement for henning Berg, sacked after just 8 weeks in charge

Haha. No kidding.

Maybe after JA allegedly worked for free and slept at Brockhall they expect Rovers' managers to do the same??

We probably need to be careful though, as fans. Simply because a person is the best out of a bad bunch, or a 'name' which sets him apart doesn't mean they are the right choice.

There is a major trust issue as the backdrop to this whole recruitment process and whoever we choose will be under suspicion as to their motives.

Experienced vs 'big name looking for a pay day'

Massive Potential vs 'we can't afford to take another gamble'

'Has the clubs interests at heart' vs 'lack of experience/gravitas'

...and the whole cycle continues.

Our next manager is out there and - NEWSFLASH - he isn't going to be perfect. But (like we did with Berg, to be fair) we have to get behind them.

whoever Rovers appoint as the next permanent manager, not all fans will like him and agree on him becoming manager but the club have to choose who they think will be the best manager for us.

Phil Brown just talking Venkys up on Goals on Sunday! - He has obviously applied for the job!

What he is on about claiming Venkys can obviously run a business?

He's using the show to tout for about 5 jobs ironically replacing Kean on the programme.

What would his old mate Big Sam think about him applying?

Dean Saunders for Wolves. I cold be wrong but I have a feeling we will regret the day not going for him ourselves just as I regret we didn't end with Laudrup a few years ago. We fans have come up with shortlists like the dross we have above and demanded that the club give us an 'experienced' manager like sotch face Davies because he wouldn't take any messin about, but when we forget to think creative we might well end up with a pile of kak that will take us further down.

Imo Sven was exposed as a conplete fraud when he failed miserably with the most talented group of footballers anyone could wish to manage in 2004.

Since then from what I can see he hasn't been remotely successful anywhere he's been since, but he seems to have an uncanny ability to bs his way into one high paid job after another on the strength of being a former England manager. Before doing a half arsed job and departing with another huge severnce cheque in his back s

He's certainly an extremely smooth operator who seems to thrive by being everyone's friend, never upsettingng anyone, never say anything controversial never rocking the boat. In that respect he'd be ideal for Venky's. He'd sail serenely through any internal turmoil at the Club giving the impression he was barely aware it ever existed and come up smelling of roses.

But a genuine love and enthusiasm for the game? Real football knowledge and insight? You get that impression with other grandees of the game of Sven's age but not him. He's just playing the game counting down the days to the next big pay off.

This is the most accurate description of Sven you will ever find. I could not agree more Rev.

The choices listed at the top of this thread are people who have been mentioned in connection with the job, rather than who we really want.

Realistically, the new guy will come from that list.

I must add that Davies has an excellent record in the Championship and I believe would be a sound appointment.

Saunders? Not sure whether that's a good move or not but at least Wolves are capable of taking quick, decisive action, ( unlike us ).

Cheers pal I didn't want to appear pedantic but your post is totally understandable now

No worries sorry about that :)

Must have something about since his average win rate is 51.71% across 12 jobs and (apart from a wobble at Fiorentina) has never dropped below 40%. And he remains one of England's most successful international coaches. I think there's a certain stigma towards Sven due to the bad press that inevitably comes being England manager and how he couldn't take the "Golden Generation" (see: overrated) to their unreached potential. And perhaps some leftover sour grapes from our own fans for (amicably) spurning Uncle Jack way back when.

Just remember to lock up your daughters... sisters, mothers, aunties, grannies...

I was pretty sure Sven Erikkson did well at Manchester City before they replaced him with Mark Hughes, he did the double over Alex Ferguson during his only season in charge. But if Shebby Singh is reading this, he must be throwing his hands up in exasperation.

"First they tell me experience is of utmost importance after the disaster with Henning Berg, and now when an experienced manager approaches us, fans don't want him either and would rather less experienced managers because of Sven's season with Leicester! Can't make up their mind, the bloody lot of them!"

Well, I'm pretty sure no one cares about his opinion anyway, but this ends up justifying his statement, "even you fans can't decide among yourselves what manager you want, what more me?" If it's any consolation, Shebby Singh doesn't rate Sven Erikkson at all, and was pretty critical of him during his tenure at England. Then again, Shebby Singh was critical of everybody when he was a pundit. -___-

To be fair, only for Shebby we had our pick of some very good championship managers but he picked Berg and now they are snapped up.

Sven's a keaner !. What's he done since the England game apart from fill his boots ? I met Dean Saunders once and I was very impressed. He's a nice level headed guy and not full of his own kean like most ex players. What he's like as a coach/manager I don't know.

Isn't this the Dean Saunders who once said he didn't know what he was doing?

I suppose that was Kidd's fault as much as his though.

Just read in my paper that Ryan Nelsen may be leaving QPR to take up a managerial post in either the U.S. or Canada. ' arry's gutted to be losing him " He's a great leader and one of the best professionals I've ever met in my life ".

I would be very underwhelmed with Saunders if I was a wolves fan. A poor appointment if it happens.

Anyone know how their fans feel about that probable appointment?
