I agree. I would liken it to Barcelona crashing out of the Champions League in the quarter finals on penalties when it restarts.

Would you put that down as a positive on the CV of the Barcelona manager?

Now Im not saying the 2004 England squad is as good as the current Barcelona side. But make no mistake about it the likes of Ashley Cole Terry Ferdinand Gerrard Lampard Joe Cole Beckham Scholes and and Michael Owen were phenomenal players in their prime who Sven completely failed to get any sort of tune out of at successive tournaments imo.

And when you're putting out a team like that its no good complaining youve been unlucky because youve gone out on penalties. You should have the game well and truly wrapped up in normal or extra time!

This is crazy. That England side was nowhere near as good as the current Barcelona side. I should add that this Barcelona side has a culture of winning trophies and a recent history of huge success, in addition to possessing the worlds' greatest player (possibly of all time). The comparison is not valid to any degree.

That England side was useful but I think that to get it to successive quarter finals was a good achievement. Additionally Sven had a phenomenal record in competitive games, I think he only ever lost two qualifiers and two games in finals matches. You only have to look at performances since he left to see what sort of coach he was and how lucky England were to have him.There is a culture of entitlement in England where the national team is built up to ridiculous levels by the media and public only to be destroyed after the inevitable defeat in a tournament.

Sven would be a fantastic choice as Blackburn manager, I can't understand anybody complaining about his appointment. We will more than likely end up with Peter Taylor, Gary Bowyer or Roy Keane god forbid. Then the moaners will be wishing that we had appointed a manager with a history of coaching the top sides in the world. And England, Mexico and Ivory Coast.

Judgement of Wallace, footballing wise, does not appear to be dissimilar to Singh's but doesn't appear to be a wum.

I'm aware of that, I'm just surprised it's even possible to talk Venky's 'up' in footballing terms when they've done nothing but feck up ever since they showed up!

Let's just pray to god they make the right decision this time, Brown wouldn't be a bad appointment he's had experience with three promotions in his coaching and managerial carear and he seems to understand the club needs someone to take control of the football aspect of the club

Got to be a lot of people putting bets on it to drop that fast.

Or alternatively just one Barry white lookalike putting loadsaloadsamoney on in Pune. Starting to look a bit like the incident of big money going on the sacking of Allardyce in a certain part of west London and Glasgow bookies..... hours before it was even announced!!! :glare:
