If Appleton is the one MG was referring to then I think this comment "I can't see anybody being terribly unhappy about it though." might well be wide of the mark. I know the guy was doing a decent job in very difficult circumstances at portsmouth but does that really mean he's the best we can do. Hopefully it's another windup.

Perhaps his job will be to prepare us for administration?!!

Every time this happens we get linked with a decent manager who's already at a club then it comes out in the press we wanted them but have been put off by compen. It's utter kean, who puts this crap in the press everytime to try and make it look like we're after someone decent but we can't get them. Pure bull#### window dressing again whilst these lot scrape around looking for another cheap yes man who's daft enough to agree to the behind the scenes crap. Sick of it now, hope im wrong but doubt it. Venkys/Singh/Agnew and the rest KEAN YOU you KEANING KEANERS !!!

The more I think about Gary Bowyer as our manager the more I think it is unlikely.

If they do make him our manager and results turn sour, the fans will be in uproar saying it shouldn't have been him (even the ones who have said he should be given a roll of the dice).

This will be bad for Venkys as the protests will re-emerge and the media will turn on them saying "Why didn't they just get an experienced old head in?"

It will be bad for us as we will be the football fan equivelant of a panto villain again.

The only way I can see Bowyer getting the job is if he wins manager of the month or something like that.

Since when has that bothered the Venksters

Shame

If we really wanted him we'd have him. Even without the 2 Mill. How many managers have just walked when their moves away have been blocked. Compo then comes in at a more reasonable amount. My opinion, it's not true.

Poyet would be well worth the 2m asking price, get rid of olssen and any other baggage, job sorted.

Second choice Billy Davies.

Poyet would be bonkers to swap the normality of Brighton for the madhouse in Blackburn.

Brighton are a club on the up who are in their best position for decades with a new ground and weekly crowds in excess of 20k whilst Rovers are in dissarray with a malaise on the terraces, dysfunction in the boardroom and unrest in the dressing room.

Why would he swap the buzz of the south coast for a bed of nails in Lancashire?

I thought the sarcasm implied that?

I was just agreeing with it ??

I can't see us getting Poyet, but the man is a little crackers, no doubt about that.

Has anyone mentioned Phil Parkinson at Bradford? We'll have to wait a little longer if its him, is he an ex-dingle?

No Gav, The Parkinson who was at Burnley is the one who is ill with locked in syndrome following a stroke, was a coach at Blackpool up to his illness!!

So if we are to believe MG Road Shebby lied again about the time given to Bowyer The collective brains trust went for Poyet But without the first clue about how to get him.

The decision to give Bowyer until January was made by Venkys and the board of directors including Agnew and Shaw. If Shebby Singh was to be believed, Gus Poyet was probably on his shortlist that he submitted to Venkys on New Year's Day in hopes of getting it approved, only to be told, "your list sucks, we're going to listen to Paul and Derek and give Bowyer until the end of January" and he sighed and replied, "yes, boss." but went to approach Brighton behind their backs anyway and was put off by the 2 million compensation (which he couldn't pay because he didn't have the backing of his bosses then).

I'm not defending Shebby Singh, mind you, but just reconstructing the events that have occurred throughout the past month.

Parkinson's record is very mixed.

Came to notice at Colchester, bombed at Hull after replacing Peter Taylor, started badly at Charlton failing to win in something like 7 to 10 games of his caretaker spell so they gave him the job and he relegated them ! Think he is trying to 'reinvent' himself at Bradford, again following Peter Taylor.

A colleague of mine knows 'Parky' quite well and describes him as a 'nice chap but a hard b @ s t @ r d'.

Spoke with my pal in Blackpool earlier this morning and he's heard all the Appleton rumours and thinks they are true.

Given all that, we will probably, IMO, foolishly appoint Peter Tayor and Parkinson will follow him to Rovers, once Taylor bombs again, for a third time in his career - nah, only jesting, then again , hmmm !!!

BetVictor, I am told, have suspended betting on new Rovers' manager.

This one is a bit unusual as they tend to run more managerial markets than the other 'biggies'.

As flagged yesterday, I don't think something smells right here.
