Appleton's win ratio is a magnificent 23.81%

p-63 won-15 drawn-19 lost-29!

No Thanks

That just says it all really, it'd be another cock up. The thing is he's worked at skint Pompey and for tight wad owners at the seaside so he'll probably agree to anything and these are the type of cheapo guys they are looking at, worryingly !

Not over the moon but surely him walking out of blackpool is something to do with not getting on with chairman/owners so i very much doubt he will be a puppet! I honestly dont mind him... Might not be 1st choice but we could do a darn site worse!!

This is so depressing, the main thing they seem to be looking for is managers with experience of working with useless owners. I'd be happy if they stick with Bowyer as I have no faith they could do any better given a choice of who to hire. What possible experience does Appleton have which makes him a better managerial prospect than Henning Berg, Gary Bowyer or the bloke that delivers my Sunday paper.

Is Cryer teasing, hinting or both ?!?! :

Andrew Cryer@CryerRovers

Appleton wasn't at Blackpool training yesterday - strangely. Not sure what to think about it to be honest

Is Cryer teasing now :

I already told you lot, he's bald, he's got the gig. Add to that a bit funky looking, perfect.

I think Bowyer has proven too be to big an asset to the club to become manager(and risk losing him to another job or having to sack him), Id rather he became a pillar of stability behind the scenes for a long time to come and also be a very good caretaker manager ready to step in when necessary, Basically he could become the New Tony Parkes, which is a rare and priceless asset to have at any club.

If Appleton comes in this is deriliction of duty at it's finest. What a slap in the face to Gary Bowyer. Replace a guy who has yet to let us down with a nobody. Let's at least give Bowyer till the end of January as originally advertised. By then it is possible we are back in contention and in the 5th round of the cup. Keep piddling around and we are sure to suck the fire out of the bellies of the team for Friday.

I'd agree with you if it wasn't for how other pillars of stability have been treated

Depending what the plan is could be a good move , experience of working under a transfer embargo, off loading players , managing a club through administration, combined with Shaw's experience of running club finances to the point of begging money to fight off winding up from the HMRC could be a masterstroke by Venky's and at least we will see what the direction of the club is

to be fair to Appleton he did come out of the Portsmouth saga with a lot of credit and hard to judge his managerial abilities under those circumstances

Forget the power struggle(they are all equally knobends), the 1(and maybe only) thing that Shaw has proven to be good at before coming here is spotting a very good up-and-coming manager(and reportedly he was the one pushing for Holloway before singh opted for Berg!)

So many names have been linked, and yet we all know in our hearts we'll be disappointed. I'll divide up the many candidates and what I think under titles:

Good choices, but unrealistic:

Hughes

Schuster

OGS

Realistic choices I'd like(to varying degrees):

Curbishley

O'Driscoll

Bowyer (seems to be doing OK, so deserves it ahead of some others)

Mark Robins (Has got Coventry looking OK despite their problems)

Di Canio (a risk given that he is mental, but has done well at Swindon)

Billy Davies

Sven G E

Paul Lambert (he'll be available very soon)

Not experienced (so why replace Bowyer?):

Appleton

Tugay

Shearer

Not in a million years:

Mickey Adams

Peter Taylor

Tony Adams

Paul Dickov

Aidy Boothroyd

John Gregory (you never know with this lot)

Judian Ali

Apologies if this takes half a page, but there have been so many names mentioned I tried to cover all bases.

Appleton seems to be Shaw's choice from what ppl are on twitter.

has Shaw won his power struggle with Shebby I wonder???????

Why would shaw want appleton - thought he wanted an experienced manager.

Tired of this:

1. A name is mentioned on Twitter

2. The board explodes in rage

3. 'I'm done if he gets appointed'

4. He gets appointed.

5. You have to back the new manager, he is in charge and that is that RTID.

Let's go round again...

I can't believe people say 'I'll back whoever is appointed'. If Shebby appointed himself I'm pretty sure some of you would bang on about 'getting behind the lads'. Not many people realize it but Venkys have turned the fans we have left into an obedient although a little aggrieved bunch.

I'm surprised people still care, tbqh. There once was a time when we'd be gripped in anticipation for the next manager through Ewood's gates. Now people are more preoccupied with which one of the Three Stooges is winning the boardroom battle. Let's face it, whoever it is will be painfully out of their depth. *Psssst* These people don't know what they're doing.
