Appleton is doing a good job so far and although I want us to do well I don"t think going up would be good for us. So much damage has been done we would be whipping boys in the Prem. Best to miss out and build up a decent squad for a return the year after.

Loans Mr E.

Appleton is the "Loan Arranger". I think that's why he got the job. Remember right at the beginning of this sorry saga Mrs D talked

strangely about achieving success without spending much? "Leasing players" I think she called it.

What a load of @#/?!

Appleton got the job because he's good at doing loan deals? How did they work that out?

What was deadline day about? A clever and elaborate ruse?

I think his ability to organise loan deals at this time is necessary for us to climb the ladder.

I assume he said something about his experience and ability in this area so I can't frankly see what you are on about.

Unless you just see the posters name and a red mist descends of course.....

As for the last day, it was a shambles but you've put forward a plausible theory not me!

Going up as soon as possible is the absolute priority. You have to remember the only reason we can sign the players we can and keep the current wages we can is due to the parachute payments. These halve after next season and disappear two seasons later, and with our minimal gate receipts we would likely have to sell a lot of our squad just to stay afloat.

So yeah leaving it for next season when it's already a pretty unpredictable league, and when you consider QPR and Villa may come back down next season and would probably stand a decent chance of going straight back up, we really do need to go up ASAP.

Even if it means getting relegated straight away.

Going against my previous post on only making that one post on the fans (and for that I apologise) I'd like to add that there wasn't much support at all for the players during the 90 minutes. It was all anti-Kean/Venky's, letting chickens onto the pitch during a game we had to win and protests. The blame is heavily on the owners and manager but to say that the fans deserved respect from the players any further than trying to win football games is one I can't share. You could have sympathy for the fans of course, because all relegations are horrible for fans. Ultimately though, you don't think of message boards and media broadcasts when you're trying to get back into a game and the crowd are intent on booing, even if it isn't aimed directly at you.

A game we had to win haha it was all but over by the Wigan game.... We had no chance of staying up,

That is a good read. They've had a good chuckle at us. I was thinking they may even finish above us! Think that's a bad dream that isn't happening now. Come the Derby, I'm more confident we have it in us to keep the record going.

COYB!!

This seasons east lancs derby is still probably going to be the closest game since 1979, due to Rovers weaknesses rather than Burnley being good.

After not being able to watch Match of the Day for six months due to being upset at the way we were relegated, I watched it tonight and look forward to us featuring on it again.

A truer statement was never made.

You and about 95% of Rovers fans mate.

I'm concerned about the other five per cent you refer to pal?

Some of them echo my sentiments, we,ve had some relatively "easy" teams at home. Brighton, Hull leicester et al away will be a real test not unless we come out of those games with some form of respectable points tally can we get a bit excited. If it goes wrong at those venues it's a case of as you were.

Now here's an interesting one on the loan idea. If we are going to bring in a few more on loan don't we want to time it so they'd be able to play in any play off games. DJ has already confirmed that he'd only be able to play in the first leg of the semi IF we got there. If we are going to build a team around these 3 or 4 loan players would it not be best to get them in at a time when their loan could run until the final.

Once the full season ends we can extend the loan further to cover the play offs I believe.

Just looked at the dates and assuming the loans are 93 days, we'd have to wait until after Brighton, Hull and Leeds if we wanted the players for any possible final. The annoying thing is that the league 1 and League 2 finals have been bought forward a week. If the championship one had been as well we may have been able to bring players in after the Brighton game and had them available for the play off final if by some chance we got there.

Read a few forums that indicate that emergency loans can't be extended.

It's not an extension as such, they would return to their clubs for a short period then a new loan arrangement would be made.

Another win yesterday , not good to watch but there is definate improvement !

The players are playing more like a team but unless the midfield is sorted out by loan signings , the play offs are a pipe dream..

I keep looking back to Souness's team , this one is not in the same league ..

Or is the league sub standard to what it was ?

Brighton , Hull and Leeds coming up will give us more idea where we will finish , I have friends who support the dingles and they are amazed Burnley are so high in the league ...

Personally , I think we will finish 8th about 4 places above the Dingles , but I cannot be confident about victory in the derby game cos there is so little between the 2 teams ...

Interesting week ahead with Brighton away and a possible loan signing or 3 and then Arsenal ...

Michael Appleton is doing a good job after 2 years of inept mismanagement ..But keep the feet firmly on the floor this team aint good enough yet !

Totally agree - we have yet to play really well under Appy - possibly the second half against Derby. Hopefully this run of results will give the players a bit of confidence - but I do worry about our center midfield. Be interesting to see how he lines up against Brighton - personally I would continue with the team that started against Ipswich - but wouldn't be surprised to see CKR wide on the right and DJ up front (IMO would be a mistake as CKR gives the full back little protection).
