Nobody is suggesting all is well behind the scenes at Ewood, but he's right, something has changed and things are being done differently. We don't automatically expect someone to put their foot in it every time someone at the club opens their mouth. I don't know who's responsible or how long it will last, but it's nice just not to be a joke to all other supporters at the moment and presumably if things with the team stay good then there's less reason to worry about the rest till we see where we end up at the end of the season. Longer term we need proper new owners and if that's not possible at least a properly constitued board and management set up so Appleton can do what he should do - manage the football team - and all other jobs are done by competent people, but short term it's nice to just be able to watch the match and not have kean standing on the touchline looking lost, watching us concede late goals for fun and coming up with tripe in his post match talk.

That's only because the only voice we are hearing is Appleton's (which is good).

I fully expects anyone else at the club to put their foot in it if they do.

Long may the current run continue!

precisely - the rest seem to have gone back to staying in the background, letting the manager and the team do the talking and get on with their jobs. If singh is ever found, or Shaw and Agnew think they have been out of the limelight for too long, they may embarrass us again, but, as i said, it's nice to feel a bit of positivity even if we know it's only a matter of time.

Very impressed by Appleton.

At least after Two years of living hell it looks like the football side of Rovers is no longer set up like a rigged losing slot machine in a casino.

So you don't think his appointment is 'bonkers' any more?

I said from the beginning that I considered it was not a bad appointment.

I am though still curious to know who pointed venkys in his direction - after all venkys are not football people. Is somebody else advising venkys - who actually knows football.

Something has clearly changed - for the better at Rovers. Not just Appleton's appointment - but they are leting him get on with his job. Is it a result of the meeting in Pune with Shaw / Agnew.

It is of course easier to sell a stable club than an unstable one - something to consider.

The method of appointment was bonkers

how???

according to Shaw, Appleton name was mention to the owners before we appoint Berg.

Also Shaw did recommend Appleton to The owners after Berg sacking.

look like finally the owners are letting the MD (Shaw) get on with his job and Appleton report to him who then report to the owners. NO shebby involve atm.

You should start a school of motoring with your reversing expertise.

To be fair, nothing wrong with someone changing their mind and admitting they got it wrong.

It's far more unfuriating when people stick to their intitial opinion despite it flying in the face of all logic. Like some did with Allardyce.

Strange, you think venkys hired him not Shaw and Agnew?

Why?

Take a break chaddy, your always apologising for the club, your clearly to sensitive.

I think todays result v Arsenal is reason enough to show Appleton is the right appointment and deserves the support of all the fan base.

There have already been improvements since Appleton was appointed - today is the result of hard work by both Appleton and the players. Venkys do not deserve the fans to stop their boycott. But the manager and the players have today shown we have reason to hope again. This is not about one result. but the vast improvement that Appleton's appointment has made.

At last, with advice from others, Shaw etc or whoever - venkys have got something right.

The appointment was made by Balaji totally by-passing everybody at the club.

Do you remember MG Road's posts?

Shaw was simply told to do the contract and make sure Shebby didn't interfere.

It's probably because the Arsenal match is looming but we have gained the attention of the main papers again. There are positive articles in just about all of them. There's also articles about Orr and Bentley apologising and another (and it's a cracker by Henry Winter) about Richards career.

“I wind up the opposition. If I do a nice trick, I’ll wink at the player trying

to mark me. When we played Ipswich Town, [Luke] Chambers was more bothered about

holding me than watching the ball coming in and we managed to score. I said:

‘Stop holding me, man. Start concentrating’.”

The mood is changing. After reading the Mail article:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2279454/Michael-Appleton-settled-Blackburn-Rovers.html

I would be interested to hear people's views on the role that Shaw has played in all this.

As I see it; Singh got rid of Kean by making his job untenable, he then messed about for 5 weeks (or whatever it was) appointing Berg. Berg always seemed very isolated and had to work with the incumbents. Sadly, it all turned into a bit of a disaster. Finally Shaw and Agnew flew to Pune to try to set things right. Something significant happened there and Singh was banished to the far reaches of the Venky empire. Appleton was appointed - again at the insistence of Shaw - and it turns out (and it was by no means obvious to many of us) that he seems to know what he's doing!

Appleton got his own team in - a luxury not afforded to Berg, and he was then allowed to concentrate on the football whilst Shaw et al deal with the meddlers in Pune. No more cross-continental meetings for the manager - leave that up to the managing director! Good grief, It just seems so simple - if only JW was still here!

Maybe I am giving Shaw too much credit - but somebody brought the change about. Appleton could be responsible for some of it - who do you reckon it is ? We owe them a huge debt of gratitude.

A chairman in charge, football manager based at Ewood and reporting to the Chairman alone, whilst running it his way, Shebby nowhere to be seen.

Arsenal 0-1 Rovers.

It's showing isn't it Tony.

Still just two goals conceded in the last half dozen matches and both penalties by Brighton. Even better given the shut out at the Emitartes. Well done to the players particularly to the keeper and the two centre halves and the management team.

Not ready to eat humble pie yet but I am at the stage where I am getting the ingredients in ready to bake one just in case. The ultimate test is still whether he can get this club promoted or not, if he can do that either this season or next season then I will eat that pie.

In his interview on football focus he was asked what Shebbys job was. He said he'd had no involvement from Shebbys since he joined the club but that Shebbys had his mobile number.

Amazing what can happen when a manager is left to manage isn't it? Venky's take note.

Correct. I wonder who pointed Balaiji in Appleton's direction.
