how do you know it was Balaji???

PAFELL told me.

There was a new advisor involved whom I still don't know who it was but they got hold of the list of 12 candidates still in the running after Shebby had panicked and appointed Berg- Appleton was the one selected from that list of 12 and the calls went to Pune without Ewood involvement.

Venkys were there today weren't they?

Is it too early to give a bit of credit to Darren Moore as well?

Really glad he's doing well for you, he was always respected and liked at ours. It would be good to see how he does after a couple of seasons at a club

Edit- Its never too early to credit Big Dave met him a couple of times a true Gentleman

ok thanks for Telling the forum this Philipl.

Shebby rush the last appointment because of his own deadline. Shaw was Holloway or McCarthy.

would really like to know who this new advisor is??? tbh dont give a toss now.

well done to Appleton and his coaching staff on a well earned win today and for getting the team playing in the correct way.

do some fans groups want him out and going to protest against it???

Bet they feel really stupid now. if they don't, then they should.

I said when Appleton was appointed, it was good. Some were moaning cos he had not done anything. Yet I said at the time, he stopped the rot at Blackpool who had been going on a bad run of results. he has done the same at Rovers now. Is that 9 hours without conceeding a goal in open play? I have yet to meet a pompey fan who has a bad word for Appleton.

agree.

you got any idea who this new guy who advise to appoint Appleton???

i think venky's took the decision themselves. coz blackpool - rovers match was the only one rovers match telecasted live here in india. probably balaji saw the match and liked appleton. #justaguess

The appointment was made by Balaji totally by-passing everybody at the club.

Do you remember MG Road's posts?

Shaw was simply told to do the contract and make sure Shebby didn't interfere.

Somehow I doubt that.

Singh is Venkys employee, not a family member. At the end of the day, he'll do as they wish.

Oh Please. Do you not remember MG Road's posts at the time saying an agreement has already been reached with somebody, hand shake etc.

I'd recommend a look at the first few pages of this topic. Some people must be feeling pretty embarrassed. Here's looking at Stuart, DE & Pick!!

Ah, pointing the finger at people with the power of 20-20 hindsight. Bravo. Seven games is probably a fair number of games to make that observation though so at least you have waited.

At the time we brought him in, yes, I would rather have kept Bowyer. We were doing well already and the players were playing for them. Appleton was completely unproven but has continued that form.

I'm not embarrassed. It was a gamble - the third of Venkys short tenure. It had to pay off eventually. It appears that Appleton has proved my initial reaction wrong but no, I'm not embarrassed. I hope I remain wrong for the rest of the season.

I probably predicted elsewhere that we wouldn't be promoted this season. Let's hope you get the chance to dig up that old post too. ;)

Onwards and upwards.

In London with miserable Arse fans :)

Just realised some of them will be coming to my club tonight. Not working tonight. But I think I will be drinking in my place of work tonight.

What are you blathering on about?

My point was that Shaw would not have been told to stop Singh interfering.

And to think I was actually getting wistful about your lack of posts when Bradstics was squatting on the MB...

Read the thread. Philip said how Appleton was appointed by balaji - without any one at the club being involved. That Shaw was told to just sort the paperwork out.

Your post appeared to doubt that. I therefore pointed out to you that MG Road had said simular to what Philip had said.

You keep going on about me having digs. but it is you who is doing the digging.

FFS. My post wasn't in discussion with you but you responded - and read it wrong. Did you not notice the bit I highlighted in bold??

You are the one digging in this instance. A keaning big hole.

Nah, not having any of that. You wrote MA off before he'd even stepped through the door. A salutory lesson for future reference Stuart :rover:

Have (or don't have) what you like but you thought Kean would be here as long as Venkys were and that Singh would just suck up to Kean (a replacemnet for Agnew, wasn't it?).

Not quite how it went down either.

Still not embarrassed.
