Appletons already peddling backwards

"I'm just glad that I got the response I got off the players in the

second half, I'm sure at some point the players who came off on Saturday

will get the opportunity to make amends and to make sure that it

doesn't happen again".

How is that peddling backwards?

I wouldn't say back pedalling. Depends on the question he was asked.

Orr's positioning is questionable most defiantly and he does lack serious pace.

But he does offer a sort of steadiness, His tackling and crossing at times can be superb, he's also a willing outlet on that side of the pitch. Do I think we have better? Yes i do, ADAM HENLEY.

TBF though Orr over Rekik anyday.

ORR DANN HANLEY HENLEY unless Raheem is any good at left back and swapping adam to right back whilst Givet continues his absence.

I forgave him for his stupid outburst, but i like his fire and passion which is something allot of our team lacks! as well as depth.

Moaning and bitching at your team mates whilst swearing at your own fans does not equate to fire and passion. The man is a Grade A pillock and should be nowhere near the first team.

Whereas I'd usually agree about keeping these things in house, it's got to the stage where too many players have grown used to having excuses for poor performances.

They can't be blamed, the manager is clueless. They can't be blamed, the fans are on their back. They can't be blamed, the club is in tourmoil etc etc.

I dare say they've had their fair share of dressing downs in the last year or two from 5 different managers, all of which defended them in public.

I think Appleton was not only within his rights, but also correct in stating that this culture of hiding has gone on for long enough, and if the players don't like it then in the summer they'll be out.

Just been reading quotes from Kean regarding Murphy on the Murphy thread and it just makes me realise how great Appletons quotes are compared to the toxic drivel spoken by that moron.

That may be because Appleton uses a very highly paid PR company, Kean had Agnew advising him

Nah, Kean was in a league of his own when it came to PR disasters. I've never known a "manager" make so many outrageous comparisons like he did:

Formica was the next Batistuta.

Ribiero was the next Denis Irwin.

Goodwillie was the next Rooney.

...And Murphy was the next Pirlo/Tugay.

Worst of all, he actually expected people to buy this crap.

The dew comment will take some beating along with the cardiff after match comments.

We're all expecting the next season to be like the first part of Starship Troopers! The fitness part of pre-season training sould be done in a small village in Devon called Lympstone. Or more specifically the Marine training camp there. A quiet word to a couple of corporals to treat them like regular Nods would shake a few up a gear.

He can't be speaking through a PR company every time he does an interview though

I'm convinced the words after the game on Saturday were his own feelings

And I doubt a PR company would advise him to use such strong words like 'the club needs an exorcism'. It would probably be put as something like 'next season, I'd like to really put my stamp on the squad with players who will fight for the team and get us promoted.'

I'm half-expecting his next words to Murphy/Orr to be:

'Appleton 3:16 says I just whupped your ass! Mike Appleton's time has come! And that's the bottom line, because Voldemort said so!!'

Hope it's sunny otherwise their vitamin D levels will be low and they won't be raring to go , a few days in Dubai should sort it the answer to all problems according a certain wine fuelled law breaking guitar strumming liar :)

I think MA has identified the problem. Let's see if he can cure the disease.

I'm looking forward to the Bolton line up. It'll tell is a lot.

Given the regular disappointments of the last 2.5 years, I'm expecting Murphy to start - possibly even Orr.

If that happens then you can write off anything Appleton has to say in future interviews.

Or it could be that injuries force his - ie who would have played right back when Henley was injured? Lets wait and see what happens

Henley isn't injured tonight, is he? Nor is David Jones. After his interview Saturday he has no excuse to play Murphy or Orr. Play a youth team/reserve member if he's desperate - at least they'd give 100%, unlike the aforementioned scousers. Unless our entire reserve and youth team are injured too, in which case put a training cone on the pitch and stick Murphy's face on it. Nobody will notice the difference and it'll probably give the ball away less.
