Backroom DE. Posted January 10, 2013 Backroom Posted January 10, 2013 Glenn Pegden@GlennPegdenFrom a v.good BCFC source "signed 2.5yr deal on 4x wages after a vid conf. call. Got to use same squad but been promised funds if needed." Guess Shebby's 6 month contract deal was only real in his own head.

Ferrit Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 This is a disastrous appointment, to think anything else is pure naivetey.
rover2000 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 I'm sorry Gary Bowyer isn't getting the chance of the job as he seems to have turned things round, whereas Appleton's record doesn't inspire confidence. He might of course turn out to brilliant, and if he is Blackburn manager I hope he does. You have to wonder if he is being brought in, not with aim of promotion, but with the thought of clearing out all the players with a transfer value and replacing them with young players like appeared to happen at Portsmouth. This is an article about Port Vale players being allegedly touted for sale by an agent:- http://www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/Port-Vale-Stars-angry-touted-sale/story-15524118-detail/story.html Seemingly an agent of the same name also represented Michael Appleton according to this article:- http://www.chichester.co.uk/sport/football/pompey-latest/appleton-encouraged-by-positive-trust-talks-1-4424830
Gumbi Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Ok so are you going to boo him? Say he lasted 57 days are you going to boo the next one as well? this has got to end sometime lads Kean I could understand. But don't turn yourselves into fools. The fact of the matter no 1 appointment will please everybody but to protest before he's even arrived? just saying you not doing yourselves favours and you're making the job a bigger Poison Chalice than it already is. Well said. If our fans boo any manager they don't like then we will never be able to attract a decent manager as they will probably know they will be treated in exactly the same way if a few results don't go our way.
sparky12 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 I'll do what the hell I want And this is the exact reason they hired berg last time around, a rovers legend and they knew not many people would not kick up a fuss, well seeing as appleton has more experience than berg then why not give him a chance?
T.J.Newton Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 I'll do what the hell I want I heard a 5 year say those exact words to her mother this morning, pathetic hearing it come from an adult(!).
Ferrit Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 And this is the exact reason they hired berg last time around, a rovers legend and they knew not many people would not kick up a fuss, well seeing as appleton has more bad experience than berg then why not give him a chance? Fixed. Can't believe how many people are being positive about this to be honest, do people never learn?
Gumbi Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 You have to wonder if he is being brought in, not with aim of promotion, but with the thought of clearing out all the players with a transfer value and replacing them with young players like appeared to happen at Portsmouth. Appleton didn't have any choice in that. Portsmouth were on the verge of going out of business and had to sell as many players as possible so they could carry on running.
callumrovers Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 This is a disastrous appointment, to think anything else is pure naivetey. Based on what? Stop embarrassing yourself.
blueboy3333 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 +1This WILL end in more tears Give it a rest you boring sod. You don't want Appleton, everyone gets it, but you haven't got a clue if he'll do well or not.
Ferrit Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Based on what? Stop embarrassing yourself. His record? The only person embarrassing their self is you gangsta of love. Wow, I guess irony truly is ironic.
Rover_Shaun Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 seeing as appleton has more experience than berg then why not give him a chance? That is a joke, right? Tell me it is
dwayne cage Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Give it a rest you boring sod. You don't want Appleton, everyone gets it, but you haven't got a clue if he'll do well or not. Don't think anyone has a clue but I hope he does well for our sake,if not we are truly fecked

Shame though he's done an immense job.

Backroom DE. Posted January 10, 2013 Backroom Posted January 10, 2013 - Recent (5 years or less), somewhat lengthily Championship experience with a steady club - A small amount of success at a club at some point in the recent past - Decent managerial (not COACH) reputation - Hair (optional but preferable) That's all most of us wanted. Or failing all that, Bowyer would have been accepted as a permanent replacement if he could be persuaded to take the job. To think, we could have had McCarthy or Holloway before Berg, and Davies, O'Driscoll or Sven this time around... both times we've ended up with total nobodies with hardly any managerial credentials. Oh well. Onwards and downwards.
DannyKeg Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 I don't know anything about the guy, he wouldn't have been my choice, but I'll give him a chance. At the end of the day results are all that count. I do think the three amigos on the board should be relieved of their positions.
roversfan83 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 At worst I'm pretty @#/? off with this appointment and at best apathetic but there seems to me to be 2 choices support him fully or walk away from the club. I'm undecided. Certainly had enough of the circus, venkys, shagnew vs shabby so if I don't feel I can support it I just won't go again ever but those that continue to go have to support him otherwise we will get a reputation for unreasonable fans where no manager would want to work. Kean deserved all the protests in fact he got away lightly but the fans gave him a chance for the best part of a year and rightly things gradually built up so if we start at protest/booing level at the start where do we go up to from there.
alderson777 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Well they can feck off then. IMO, that load of shyte have relegation on their cv's. As I have said before, they are paid enormous sums of money, so stop bellyaching and give 100% in every training session and match. If PL WBA players and Hodgson respect Appleton, who are this, IMO, bunch of under-performing primma donnas not to. Time to stop pandering - I think it's been been a holiday camp at Brockhall since Sam left. Even me Mercer, you my friend are on form today! 2 posts of the highest quality!!
pontyrover Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 I'll do what I want. I'll do what I want. I'm a grumpy old fart, I'll do what I want.I was going to come back for as many games as I could but now I'll save my cash, sit on the fence, and see what happens by the summer and if against all the odds we are not looking for a new manager I may restart my quarter of a century with a season ticket. That is my prerogative as this no longer feels like the club I love An understandable stance but ultimately we all need to pull in the same direction for Rovers get back to where we belong... in my opinion.
beanie Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Well It seems from people on bpool message board seem to think he can orginise a team and will get them fit to be fair these are two things we have been asking for for since sam left i for one will get behind him and support the team.
callumrovers Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 His record? The only person embarrassing their self is you pal, gangsta of love? Wow, I guess irony truly is ironic. I'm not getting into a petty argument over a messageboard, when your response has nothing to do with football. His record? 2 losses in 12? Getting a team together two days before kick off and making it competitive?
John Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Know little about him - obviously his results record looks pretty dire - the warning signs are there already. Will, of course, give him a chance but don't really give a Kean these days.
sparky12 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 That is a joke, right? Tell me it is Sorry let me re phrase.... Within English football Appleton has more managerial experience :-) happy?....... I don't understand why you don't give him a chance, agreed its not a fantastic appointment but neither was berg, but like I said most people seemed to back him!! Granted only 2 wins out of 12 isn't fantastic but only 2 defeats is also very good! its people like you and groups like BRAG that need to wake up...as hard as it may be were not a premier league club anymore, were a midtable championship club with a nightmare for a board of directors and fans like you who will never be happy! Pathetic
Ricky Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 He'll have my backing. Not my first choice by a long shot but he may just have something about him. I wonder of there's any chance of keeping bowyer involved in the first team? Maybe first team coach or assistant manager. He may not want it though.
