#Rovers fans listening to "rumours" RE Appletons agent, his agent is Simon Miotto, don't think he's with Kentaro but possibly was for a wk

Miotto seems to have been at WBA for a time so would know Appleton from there.

Alan Nixon disagrees and says Appleton's with WMG.

I do not know who is right on this. The timing of the releasing of this information makes me suspicious. Wondering, why it wasn't mentioned earlier.

Just because an agent is dodgy, does not mean the manager or player is.

But Appleton has to be given a chance and judged on results alone. We all want good results. lets see what happens.

He's done nothing to deserve anything

Unfair. I'm quite prepared to give Appleton a chance. As people say he is considered a good coach and seems to have addressed Blackpools defensive problems within 12 games. I have no idea how he will do, and unless your psychic, then neither do you. Your merely making what you believe to be an educated guess.

My gripe is with JA and his money making schemes. I thought we had seen the last of him but alas, it would appear he has been slinking in the shadows all this time.

I can assure you that Appleton is a far better manager than Kean. Don't compare the two. We all know why Kean was given the managers job and it wasn't based on his abilities.

Berg was appointed primaruly because he was an ex player. Appleton has served his apprenticeship firstly as a coach and then as a manager at the toughest club in the league to manage, Pompey, and then took over a struggling Blackpool team and steadied the ship. Although stronger candidates are out there, he has got the job on merit and not because he is friends with an agent or because he's an ex player. He deserves a chance.

So it appears Anderson has took it upon himself to fly to India to meet the clowns over there and get his man in AGAIN going over Shagnew & Shabba's backs. Oh dear. One thing maybe is that we might see a couple of new players come in. Might not be any good and massive agent fees will be paid. Wonder if the might Myles Anderson will be re-signed now as a young Allesandro Nesta this time around

Oh give it a rest with this agent clap trap. People are bored with it. Be a football fan and judge the man on what happens on the pitch.

As many have stated Appleton is not Steve Kean. At least this isn't his first managerial job.

Kean was pathetic in every way and inept in every way.

Berg was hired due to his past playing days at Rovers rather than his abaility as a manager, which was non existant.

Appleton has lost only 2 games at Blackpool, and we all know how they used to play under Holloway (5hit or bust is the best way to describe it). Seems as though he's started by sorting the back 4 out, and a decent job he's done.

Yes its rotten to the core if Anderson is involved in getting him here, but he is not Steve Kean.

Whether true or not some people are now going to associate Appleton with SEM/Kentaro/Anderson and never give him a chance.

I don't care where he comes from if he gets results on the pitch as at the end of the day that is what counts, not where you come from or what you have done before, it's what you do now.

Whichever name is on the door of the managers office will get my support until they have proven they are not worthy of it, this applied to Ince and Kean, it applied to Berg who I think was hampered more by the fact he was working with the same coaches from the previous regime than his abilities, and will apply to the next man, bald or not.

PS - Seen as we all believe we need a new board could we please consider that very competant lady from Mansfield Town, cheers.

STATEMENT: The SEM Group OR Jerome Anderson is not in ANY way involved with Michael Appleton & never has been OR have they had any dialogue whatsoever with Venky's in respect of the prospective appointment of Mr Appleton as manager. ALL reports by any individual or otherwise are fabricated & totally untrue

It is disappointing to read so many negative posts about Appleton who has yet to appear at Rovers. There is no guarantee that an experienced manager would be spectacular at Ewood but the same can be said about writing off a young manager who has had very positive things said about his coaching abilities (where he does have a good track record at WBA) and his dealing with issues at Portsmouth. He can't really be judged on his Blackpool spell apart from sorting their defence out, the lack of strikers there have made it difficult to win games.

There is plenty to criticise Shaw, Agnew, Shebby and of course the owners. I suspect that the appointment of Berg (who by all accounts was Shebby's call) was partially motivated by the desire to placate the vociferous fans with a Rovers legend. I think most of us would agree that history helped but not as much as Shebby thought. Shaw has history with Appleton and experience of him as a character, whilst Shaw hasn't got my respect he has successfully appointed managers at PNE (e.g. Moyes) and has had some failures.

However, it demeans individuals who pre-judge Appleton, if he is our manager I will support him until he loses that through how he performs. So he starts with respect and can only lose that through his actions not the other way round.

BRAG and their representatives, who I believe love the Rovers as much as me, are going the wrong way here in their demands for 'experienced' appointments. It is becoming repetitive and damaging as it seems that they will block and complain about anything whilst the current owners are at the club. That seemed to ease a bit when Shebby appeared and talked directly to BRAG, now he has been marginalised by the Appleton situation that seems to have changed with threats of demonstrations.

For once, can we actually hope that a new manager will succeed and not work, plan and pre-celebrate his downfall?

Well I think that clearly puts that one to bed then.

Thank goodness for that.

It is pretty unequivocal and should squash speculation over the last 12 hours or so.

Everybody that came on here after bergs sacking and complaining about bowyer being in charge, now want bowyer to stay on and are whinging about appleton, give the guy a bloody chance!! He might do well! Mark Hughes screwed up QPR, spent in excess of £20 million and still couldn't even win 1 game in 10 this season before he was sacked! Get behind the new manager!!

Agree with those saying Appleton is way better than Kean and deserves the fans support and patience. Has done an OK job at Blackpool and has worked as a coach with good names like Hodgson. Not my ideal choice but we could and have done worse.

I also hope Gary Bowyer gets the recognition he deserves at the club and gets given some more involvement with the senior team, he clearly has had a positive effect on the squad in his short time with them.

I feel for you.

You haven't answered my question, though.

While I remain cautiously optimistic, I can see why Blue and White Army is so desperately pessimistic. After the failure with Kean and Berg, and the hiring of a manager whose win percentage is worse than Kean, that spells failure. Of course, that's discounting the fact that his stints were at Portsmouth and a Blackpool team who lost their last 5 matches before he took over.
