PAFELL Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Hang on. Didn't we first hear it from Kamy?Play fair. I do not believe that is correct. He gave a history of agents that appleton has used. also what he had been told from sources he respected. SSN have just showed him outside ground. No wonder some of our squad are not sure about him.....he looks a right hard case!!We may be able to save money on player bonuses and incenctives.....the new incentive is you get the @#/? knocked out of you if you lose.....and you don't if you win!! I am maybe the only one. but I am slightly optimistic over this possible appointment. Not saying he is the ideal choice. But am willing to give him a chance.

Roversider Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Because he took the Portsmouth before Hodgson left. We were in talks with Hodgson for a new contract before he took the england job, and, hired Steve Clarke instead after. Its no big conspiracy. "that doesn't mean we can't be massively against someone before it happens" Statements such that does "Supporters" of your club a massive disservice, I listened to a few of the podcasts where people on it decried the media for having a pop at the protests. Well that kind of makes the media's point for them don't you think?Edit another point about O'Driscoll, to play Devil's Advocate. While at Doncaster he once lost 19 straight. No ones perfect Fair comment Baggie, sometimes we make it too easy for the media to portray us negatively but then Rovers fans aren't unique - the same would happen elsewhere I'm not happy with it but I can't and won't alter others views nor will they change my disappointment in the way it is said. The internet gives us a feeling of immunity and a belief that others can spot the subtle nuances of our comments. Clough lost the dressing room at Leeds but that didn't make him a bad manager did it?

Stuart Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Err no. I didn't mention JA or SEM.I said that two people who I trust had told me that Appleton's agent is Kentaro. I qualified that by giving Appleton's agebt history and saying that Kentaro have bought a lot of agent companies who they allow to run pretty independently so needed name of the agent. Apologies Kamy. I think however that after the events of the last two years, a lot of people view both organisations as synonymous with each other and a particular common denominator.
Rover_Shaun Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Are we not losing sight of what a poor appointment this is?
CapeTownRover Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 He was asked his opinion and gave it. Really? Was Wayne Wild asked his opinion, or did he go out there and beg them to listen to his take on matters? Imo, its a damn shame that Appleton is being treated in this way, and for what? A record where his win ratio doesn't look that good? Or is it because his name is not the big name everybody wanted? He is by no means my 1st choice, but ill give him a chance to see what happens. These statments by BRAG and Wayne Wild are nonsense imo, and just further adds fuel to the fire.
callumrovers Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Are we not losing sight of what a poor appointment this is? No one should give the time of day.

No ones perfect Baggie, I do respect your views and thanks for sharing them, it does appear as though the supporters at the Hawthorns liked the guy, can you enlighten us to his man management skills and his relationship with the players?
sjsbrfc Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Are we not losing sight of what a poor appointment this is? Only time will tell
roverandout Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 blue and white you are starting to sound like a stuck record
PAFELL Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Are we not losing sight of what a poor appointment this is? How do you know it is a poor appointment? None of us do yet. He may not be our first choice, ideal choice. But he does not deserve to be written off before he even starts the job. He managed at a club in a worse mess than Rovers. he went to blackpool who had had a few bad results. Yet in twelve matches, he made them hard to beat. Yes only two wins, but also only two defeats. drew against some of the form teams - beat rovers If he is appointed - give him a chance first. get behind the team and see what happens. ANY appoinment is a risk. Unnecessary rookie gamble number 3 Earlier you said he was a failure. So i ask you again. Where has he failed?
Roversider Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Unnecessary rookie gamble number 3 Sorry Blue and White, I am getting the feeling that you don't agree with this appointment. I think you have made your point.
T.J.Newton Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Unnecessary rookie gamble number 3 have you slept or left your screen in the last 24hrs? blimey! i will give you credit for your perseverance though, though you are just repeating the same things over and over and over and having the same arguments with diferant people over and over...... go have a few beers in prep for tonights game fella.
sjsbrfc Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 We aren't a Premier League Club anymore + we have owners who are clueless = We are not going to attract experienced big name managers. At least give the guy a chance
Ossydave Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 There's clearly people on here that WANT Appleton to fail so they can start crowing and saying "I told you so, experience experience blah blah blah" I noticed a comment on Facebook earlier : "as a blackburn fan, blackburn fans are f**king morons.", its hard to argue with comments like that sometimes.
Roversider Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 There's clearly people on here that WANT Appleton to fail so they can start crowing and saying "I told you so, experience experience blah blah blah"I noticed a comment on Facebook earlier : "as a blackburn fan, blackburn fans are f**king morons.", its hard to argue with comments like that sometimes. Got to agree with the sentiment but I don't think we should describe our partners and spouses as morons.
onlyonejackwalker Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Can't help feeling we will regret this appointment. The key is with the players and we have already seen CKR on Twitter offering his support for Bowyer. It was clear to me when Kean left that the team rallied under Black, even if winning results did not materialise. They have rallied again under Bowyer in a far more positive way than they did under Berg and my worry now is that we will go straight back to square one with unhappy players, full of confusion and uncertainty who struggle to perform.
philipl Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 So has he been appointed or has Shebby put a spoke in the wheel?
Baggie192 Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Fair comment Baggie, sometimes we make it too easy for the media to portray us negatively but then Rovers fans aren't unique - the same would happen elsewhere I'm not happy with it but I can't and won't alter others views nor will they change my disappointment in the way it is said. The internet gives us a feeling of immunity and a belief that others can spot the subtle nuances of our comments.Clough lost the dressing room at Leeds but that didn't make him a bad manager did it? That's my point you gotta give someone at sometime a faircrack. I'm an outsider, but to me you've got absentee owners, A board try to one up each other, and, at least two different supporters groups with what looks like different agendas. I know Appleton as a coach is extremely well respected at ours. At pompey he kept them solvent keeping a team on the pitch. I think he can and will do a job for you. If give the chance.
booth Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 There's clearly people on here that WANT Appleton to fail so they can start crowing and saying "I told you so, experience experience blah blah blah"I noticed a comment on Facebook earlier : "as a blackburn fan, blackburn fans are f**king morons.", its hard to argue with comments like that sometimes. Until they've been through it like Blackburn fans have in recent times, I'll argue with them. So it seems Appleton is now the manager so I will support him. Who knows he may be a success, but it's impossible to get excited about due to him being pretty much an unknown quantity. The issue that people seem to be losing sight of, instead deciding to play the "I'm a better supporter than you because I support the manager" card, is that this is obviously an appointment fuelled by boardroom politics. Not who is best for the club.
T.J.Newton Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Got to agree with the sentiment but I don't think we should describe our partners and spouses as morons. No! well you haven't met mine(cue the dig in the ribs I'm about to receive!!!) p.s. Ouch
RockinRover Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 We can't complain about this being a rookie appointment when we all want Bowyer. I'm against Appleton's appointment myself but my reasons are that I believe Bowyer has turned us around and deserves a chance. Most Blackpool fans believe Appleton has sured them up and that it's only a matter of time before they become a force again. So maybe this isn't a bad appointment but we'll have to see after 10 games rather than before we've even kicked a ball under him.
roverandout Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 i am quite optimistic with this appointment, think it could turn out to be a good 'un, hes only 37, hes got years to learn, he has been through some tough times with portsmouth, made blackpool solid, dont get why people have such a stiffy for bowyer, probably could have put hendry in charge for those 3 games and you would have got the same results, ie the players clearly didnt like berg!!!
