As I said on the other thread the big concern isn't Appleton himself despite the fact he looks inexperieced and unproven. The problem is no one knows who decided he was the right man for the job. Its not shebby. It apparantly not shaw and Agnew. Therefore who is making these decisions? Its irrelevant if it is JA/SEM or not, it is not the right people and and it should be a huge concern.

That's my point you gotta give someone at sometime a faircrack. I'm an outsider, but to me you've got absentee owners, A board try to one up each other, and, at least two different supporters groups with what looks like different agendas. I know Appleton as a coach is extremely well respected at ours. At pompey he kept them solvent keeping a team on the pitch. I think he can and will do a job for you. If give the chance.

Trust me Baggie, the great bulk of the fans will get behind Appleton even if they aren't excited by the appointment yet. If he gets the results then he will be loved, fail and then he's in trouble just like every other football manager.

Meanwhile I'm looking forward to making your part of the West Midlands smile tonight when we turn Wolves over in what might be Gary Bowyer's last game in charge, 100% win ratio would be brilliant for him.

this is obviously an appointment fuelled by boardroom politics. Not who is best for the club.

I think that was the case with Bergs appointment, this time though it seems more like the owners themselves have played a much larger role in the selection and appointment maybe to try end some of the infighting as the board-members & Shebby won't be as quick to undermine the owners decisions(you'd normally think!!!! )

i am glad that the 12.000 or so supporters that are left who are going to home matches don't read some of the vitriol some of you so called supporters come out with on this message board it is quite upsetting/annoying no one it seems is good enough,

Nonsense, a complete misrepresentation of the response on here.

What most people seemed to want is an experienced manager with a track record, not another left-field gamble.

It's pathetic how some feel the need to grossly misrepresent the reaction of fans who've been by and large dignified and reasonable in the face of two years' worth of utter @#/?.

Now here's your toys back try not to throw them out of the pram again.

We can't complain about this being a rookie appointment when we all want Bowyer. I'm against Appleton's appointment myself but my reasons are that I believe Bowyer has turned us around and deserves a chance. Most Blackpool fans believe Appleton has sured them up and that it's only a matter of time before they become a force again. So maybe this isn't a bad appointment but we'll have to see after 10 games rather than before we've even kicked a ball under him.

We all want Hughes, Curbishley, Poyet, Coyle, or someone with the relevant experience. Actually, scratch that, there is no-one we all want.

The point is that if we are going to bring in someone with minimal experience then we may as well stick with Bowyer - who so far appears to have the players playing for him. We need to ride this wave for as long as we can, not kill it.

The worst thing now is that a win tonight (something we all want) will put massive pressure on MA - as if there wasn't enough already. If the players aren't behind him, the movitation and therefore form could instantly drop.

I really hope, if we do get Appleton that his is successful but if he doesn't hit the ground running then he could potentially be another Berg as the pressure mounts.

Baggie, I do respect your views and thanks for sharing them, it does appear as though the supporters at the Hawthorns liked the guy, can you enlighten us to his man management skills and his relationship with the players?

Man Mangement is his strong point He was both respected and liked at Albion still is in fact, while at Portsmouth we helped with loans when it hit the fan. He isn't a "Yes Man" either

It's just a bizarre appointment all round. Fans of other clubs are confused about this one.

Let's be positive though, might be third time lucky.

Good luck to him. He gets my support. Mourinho would struggle at Ewood.

Any derision, contempt, or anger should be directed toward Venkys and the club hierarchy for the shambolic way they are running the club. A young manager learning his trade isn't the chief villain here.

Thanks, nice of you to come here and give some positivity, myself, whilst he wouldnt neccessarily be my first choice, will be behind both Appleton and the team though I can never, ever forgive Venkys nor the three stooges supposedly running the club in the UK for the way they have divided supporters, boardroom, players management et al. and destroying what was a really well run football club, a Premiership Football Club with proper people in charge.

We are left with owners who remind me of the Beverley Hillbillies who's education was 6th grade (Primary level) who inherited a profitable business, unfortunately, the beneficiaries havent a clue how to run anything other than a chicken farm!!

I feel certain sources in the club are deliberately sending incorrect info to the supporter groups to rile the fans again Appleton before he has begun.

Not fair and not right. Appleton is the opposite of Kean, he is honest and has shown loyalty to a club in a dire situation. I genuinely hope he does well but he needs time. 10 games is certainly not time to judge, he will need til start of next season.

I really hope not. Who the hell thinks they should be able to choose their own manager? Absolutely crazy

not often I agree with you but I do on this .Mind you players these days are pampered mard arses. Why no announcement though? Surely it is best for everyone if the announcement is made .

Like MG Road said. It is 40% for and 60% against. How does anyone know this is a terrible appointment? don't give me the @#/? about his win ratio either.

The Kean about his win ratio? You mean don't tell you the facts about how good a manager he's been? The only Kean around here is the set of sorry excuses and irrelevant rubbish some are coming up with to try and justify this appointment.

Well regarded in football - Irrelevant.

Strong character - who cares

Tough circumstances - and didn't triumph over them.

Young manager - means nothing

Blackpool fans think he's good - so what?

All that is the real Kean, a fog of nonsense trying to disguise his poor record.

When he takes over here I don't want to hear excuses about how difficult it is working with the 3 stooges, how Venkys have given him no money to spend in January, how the players respect him, how he interviews well. Its all complete Kean, all I wanna see is us winning enough matches to make the play-offs minimum.

Bowyer has won 3 out of 3 so its more than possible. Appleton's record gives no inidcation he is capable of doing it and the idiots in charge of this club are probably about to throw away another season, and £50m in TV money along with it.

maybe because of the match tonight and being respectful to Bowyer. (though these days i don't expect rovers to do anything respectfully)

Or they could be doing it at the match.

No one should blame them for trying - I bet they're as cheesed off with the uncertainty and stupidity as supporters.
