rovers11 Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Best solution would be to keep Bowyer in the coaching team for the first team squad. Players would like that. Bowyer has done incredibly well but I never felt he was the right man long term.

Tyke87 Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Maybe Murphy enjoyed the extra responsibility he was given with Bowyer in charge and now it may be gone. Even so I thought it was a stupid comment and totally dismissed his new boss which is never clever.
Rover_Shaun Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 If, as he admitted, he doesn't know much about Appleton, how can he spot him as a "donut"? Obviously because our owners and board have selected him We hardly select the cream of the crop or the brightest pencils in the box Maybe Murphy enjoyed the extra responsibility he was given with Bowyer in charge and now it may be gone. Even so I thought it was a stupid comment and totally dismissed his new boss which is never clever. I doubt Murphy will bother. He's got a fat contract that will end with him hanging up his boots.
Mercer Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 IMO, Murphy's comments are a total disgrace. IMO, his performances are one of the reasons we are where we are - I think he is an overpaid washed-up moron.
beerwins Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Murphy's comments after the match when asked about Appleton:"I don't really know anything about him." Totally dismissive of him, put the spotlight straight back onto Bowyer. From that interview alone it seems obvious the players are not only underwhelmed but irritated. And it showed in their awful performance tonight. He's spot on tbh why when the squad looks to be turning a corner and playing why would you make a decision that could change that? it's become a power struggle behind the scenes for certain people to get what they want and while they have all been bickering Bowyer has brought out the best in the team and now they have ruined it. Why oh why did'nt they just write this season off due to their own bad decisions give Bowyer the reigns till the end of the season to see if he keep the squad playing as they were and push for a play off spot, I was'nt for giving Bowyer time but after the results he got he earned it. The lacklustre effort tonight resembled a team that had just been told a new manager was coming in when they had just got to like the one in charge, in this league going on an unbeaten run can build confidence and get you promoted I fear we have just blown our chances, our team is full of tempremental primadonnas and you need someone who knows these guys to get them playing, CKR performance summed it up for me tonight, petulant and very easily influenced by the goings on behind the scenes.

Have to agree. Wasn't impressed by those comments. Fair enough that he wanted to praise bowyer but he was very disrespectful towards Appleton in the process.

This +100 Obviously SKY were gonna ask him about MA, to come out with what he did really annoyed me. He really has not looked interested all season, now becoming one of the worst type of wage collecting journeyman.
onlyoneDuff Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Murphy needs to worry about earning the nice wage he enjoys instead of dismissing the new manager...he's not too good to drop or replace

I agree to a point I'd have liked Bowyer to at least get a longer shot but I don't think that was ever an option to them, Shebby came out and said as much. Where I don't agree is writing off the season. It's not been great by any means but we're 4 points off the playoffs (I believe) it's nothing like a write off. He may be spot on with his comments and it may be a bad decision but why not even give it a chance rather than saying that from the go? He's hardly a great example of what a team needs and if we had any half decent midfielders he'd be dropped IMO. He's not got the legs for the division and doesn't seem to care at all.
Rover_Shaun Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 From the Shebby topic but apt here too From the LET boards: Bumped into Shabby Singh this afternoon near Brockhall - definitely no one working together at Ewood - when I told him I was ashamed at what they had all done to a once proud club he openly admitted the whole situation was a mess - couldn't believe my ears!!!!!!! He then mumbled on that he didn't see why he should put himself through all this grief - I reminded him that maybe it was the 'big fat retainers' that spur him and his cohorts on - didn't give him any further chance to speak - I said that I had no belief in any of them regarding the future of the Club - they have brought this once proud club to its knees and it looks like this latest appointment has been made without the full support of all the Board Members - yes what a mess!!!!
beerwins Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Murphy needs to worry about earning the nice wage he enjoys instead of dismissing the new manager...he's not too good to drop or replace Thats the problem.... he is, he has the experience and position as captain to influence the rest of the team on the pitch and if you upset him you upset the harmony of the team, like it or not until Venky's pony up the dough to bring in two quality central midfielders to replace him and his dogshit sidekick Ethuhu you need this guy on your side. Who would replace him in the team?
Oklahoma Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Good luck, MA! Hope the V's let you get a few players to improve the team.
dwayne cage Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 I didn't think he meant anything by it. I just thought he genuinely didn't know what Appletons record was or something like that. Maybe he did mean some disrespect I don't know.
Backroom DE. Posted January 11, 2013 Backroom Posted January 11, 2013 Murphy's experienced enough to know what he was saying.
Kamy100 Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 I don't think Murphy was having a go at Appleton per say, but the players are really peeved off at the way the club is being run. From their point of view they were told last week that Bowyer was here until the end of the month, that on the back 3 good results gave them some momentum. Then this week it was back to the circus and uncertainty, with boardroom squabbles and what they were told last week (bowyer until end of the season) completely out of the window. I think it was that frustration coming out in that interview.
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 You cant blame the players for being annoyed at the situation. 4th manager in one season?? ridiculous, and its not really fair to expect the players to stand there and praise everything thats going on at the moment.
BuckyRover Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Exactly. Why would he have a problem with MA before he has even met him? Annoyed at the circus surrounding it
cop Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 I would like to know what Danny Murphy was saying to the Wolves player immediately afterwards. As they were walking towards the tunnel, Murphy glances at the Steadicam and the appears to wipe his nose on his sleeve, he is clearly saying something to the Wolves player, who then turned his back to the camera and replied while applauding the home supporters... Probably nothing in it other than some light banter or whatever but it was noticeable that what Murphy didn't want to be heard or lip-read. Also, when he replied to the interviewer regarding the amount of managers this season - "I think it's five actually", I wonder if that's relating to these so called 'shadows', 'evil forces' etc etc - supposidly interfering with team selections previously?
bob fleming Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Beerwins & Kamy - Great posts. Absolutely nailed it.
Aberdeen Blue Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Murphy needs to worry about earning the nice wage he enjoys instead of dismissing the new manager...he's not too good to drop or replace Aye, but the useless little gobshyte would still be picking up his fat contract. Absolute waste of space and another terrible remnant of the loathed ones regime.
Ewoodbhappy Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 The circumstances of Appleton's appointment deserve scrutiny. I hope he's the next big thing, and wish him well. I hope he's joined for the right reasons. We need a man with skill, guile & integrity running team affairs. The present board & owners can all do one for me.
Roverthechimp Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 There is one thing to remember about Murphy, he was a Stevie signing and seems to think that our favourite baldy should not have left. That or he was hoping for a shot at the managers gig himself but was told that he had too much hair...
Tyke87 Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Also, when he replied to the interviewer regarding the amount of managers this season - "I think it's five actually", I wonder if that's relating to these so called 'shadows', 'evil forces' etc etc - supposidly interfering with team selections previously? Appleton is the fifth. Kean, Black, Berg and Bowyer before him.
cop Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Appleton is the fifth. Kean, Black, Berg and Bowyer before him. Ahh, of course
AndyC Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 IMO, Murphy's comments are a total disgrace.IMO, his performances are one of the reasons we are where we are - I think he is an overpaid washed-up moron. The game had just finished and he has a mic in his face. I really think you're over reacting about how bad it is. He's just articulating what 98% of our fans are saying. Appleton doesn't have any pedigree or record to speak of. It's for Appleton to earn the respect of the players....and quickly. He'll be getting my support as I did berg .
